The vehicle burst out of the jungle's edge, and the others began to regain their composure. 0

At this point, the remaining road seemed much smoother. Time passed, and the car's speed quickly reached a rapid pace. The forest was long gone, and they were infinitely approaching the site of their first mission. 0

This mission involved capturing a specific type of parasite and bringing it back in a quartz glass container, along with a live specimen. It wasn't considered too complicated; as long as they were careful, they could generally return unscathed. Moreover, parasites often appeared in large numbers, making it likely that they would be dealt with before even getting close to the target. 0

These parasites had a strong team capability, often accumulating in clusters like rolling balls. In the absence of other methods, their sheer numbers required high temperatures from flamethrowers to eliminate them. 0

However, their objective was not to eradicate all the parasites in that area; they only needed to capture one male parasite and one female parasite for research. The male had strong penetrating abilities, capable of burrowing into the flesh of living beings. As the level of parasitism increased, its size would grow until it eventually manifested as an external tumor filled with pus—an ideal Eden for the parasite. 0

This was not considered excessive at all. The female parasite laid hundreds of eggs in a single brood, exhibiting an extraordinarily terrifying reproductive capacity. Fortunately, females were ten times rarer than males, meaning their population was exceptionally low despite their dominance in that area. 0

Wherever they went, any living creature became prey. Additionally, these parasites had a migratory habit that made humans fear their invasion into inland areas for breeding purposes. There had indeed been incidents of parasitism inland before, resulting in many residents becoming infected and requiring various antibiotics at hospitals to cut open tumors. Even doctors found it nauseating; these parasites were truly disgusting. 0

People seemed eager to develop some defensive measures against these parasites, such as creating potent deterrent agents. The impact of their migration on human ecological environments was undeniable. What was frightening was that if these parasites mutated with their environment and carried terrifying viruses, it would no longer be as simple as cutting out tumors or administering antibiotics. 0

"We're on the right path; we should be almost there. Everyone change into your gear," Freyr said as he tugged hard on his ring, causing countless straightjacket-like garments to fall out. 0

These outfits resembled those worn by beekeepers, likely designed to prevent insect bites. They were lightweight yet had a high density; it seemed that any contact with the parasites would cause them to become stuck to the fabric, struggling helplessly as they tried to escape. 0

Using other methods to prevent contact with these parasites was ineffective. Eventually, adopting this approach allowed them to develop better strategies for executing such missions without enduring unbearable pain. 0

"This outfit is really ugly." 0

Everyone here looked quite embarrassed. The outfit was indeed hideous, and no one expected to be sent on a mission dressed like this. However, in order to survive, wearing these clothes was worth it. 0

They carried bottles of alcohol and a knife with them. As long as the parasites weren't too deeply embedded, they could cut them out with the knife. If the parasites burrowed too deep, the end result could be a tumor-like growth, which would be utterly disgusting, and everyone would have to endure the dual torment of pain and unbearable itching. 0

After putting on their clothes, they heard a vehicle approaching from a distance, slowly entering a dire situation before them—a desolate wilderness that was even more dilapidated than ruins, with not a single patch of intact grass. The creatures here looked increasingly bizarre, each bearing large tumors, sometimes in multiple places. It was hard to understand their mindset; these creatures had drool dripping from their mouths, their eyes were red and bloodshot, appearing exhausted and sluggish. 0

This was the horror of parasitism. As they walked by, insects would emerge from beneath the ground, so they moved cautiously, trying to avoid touching anything along the way. Freyr slowly crouched down and used a shovel to dig into the ground forcefully, scattering the mud around. 0

He unearthed two terrifying insects that were still wriggling. They were only about the size of a palm but could jump remarkably well. Their many claws and appendages resembled those of flies, capable of clinging onto surfaces and scraping against skin. Such insects were not difficult to subdue; he grabbed one with tweezers and placed it into a quartz glass container, carefully sealing it before putting it into liquid nitrogen, which he then stored back in his ring. 0

They discarded their clothes on the ground and drove away quickly. 0

The environment here was no longer sustainable. The wild creatures on land seemed unusually agitated upon seeing outsiders; it would surely be more dangerous at night, especially with their frenzied emotions—likely a result of years of parasitic infestation. In such situations, there was no other remedy but to eliminate them. 0

However, Hunter Team 116 did not believe that killing was necessarily a good thing; after all, that was still a life. They hurriedly set coordinates for their next destination before darkness fell. This time they activated Flight Mode, allowing everyone in the vehicle to rest for a bit. The previous encounter had been fortuitous; within ten minutes they had found both male and female Parasite Beasts, significantly reducing their time spent. 0

The speed of flight was indeed fast; after more than two hours, they arrived at their next destination where they needed to eliminate a King Worm and bring back its head. 0

The King Worm was an incredibly fearsome creature; they hadn't anticipated such an outcome. Moreover, it was nighttime now—many insects were likely in a state of dormancy. Therefore, they had no choice but to wait until early morning to continue their hunt. 0

After resting for the night, they chose the top of a hill as their vantage point and set up numerous landmines as defensive measures. Any creature that approached would be instantly detonated and killed. The explosion would also wake up anyone nearby who was sleeping—a twofold advantage in their strategy. 0

Even so, they still needed to have a backup plan. 0
