After taking a few steps, he shook his head and returned to the pool, slowly submerging himself again. He swam back through the trench and into the deeper part of the larger pond. He swam back with determination, knowing that only a small portion of this pond was visible above the surface; most of it was covered by rocks, making him wary of what lay above. 0

As he swam back, he realized he had reached his destination and began to ascend. Breaking the surface, he saw his companions discussing something with disappointment. They had been waiting for a long time but had not seen their Commander. Just as they were about to dive down again to continue searching, their Commander surfaced unexpectedly. 0

"Keep your voices down; are you not afraid of attracting that thing? What’s the situation on your end? Have you found any suspicious passages?" Although it seemed like a question with an obvious answer, it was possible that there was only one exit designed in this place. 0

At that moment, everyone else hung their heads, clearly disheartened. It was easy to guess they had not found any openings. They had surfaced to catch their breath and discuss how to find an exit. 0

"Commander, we’ve searched thoroughly here; we didn’t see any Ghost Shadows. I even found quite a few skeletons at the bottom earlier, which made me feel nauseous enough to almost throw up my food. This place seems like a burial pit for lost souls; I really don’t want to go back into this water," Xiong Tai said disdainfully, raising his hand in agreement. 0

"Actually, I found quite a bit over there too. If you haven’t found anything, just follow me. I discovered a Channel earlier and followed it inside, where I found a peculiar room with another path leading somewhere. Although I don’t know where it leads, it’s better than staying here and getting discovered by the Living Spirit. The resentment in this water seems quite strong; if it weren’t for the Natural Temperature Patch, our body temperatures would have likely dropped significantly by now. It feels really uncomfortable; the temperature keeps getting colder," Freyr noted, sensing something unusual as he recalled the details of the Channel he had discovered while also feeling the change in water temperature. He even suspected that this water might be part of an Alchemical Matrix designed to sap intruders' body heat. 0

If that were true, then this Alchemical Matrix would gradually lower the temperature once someone entered the Ice Spirit Pool. The surface might remain calm, but the water itself felt as cold as liquid nitrogen. Their bodies might not withstand it; there was a reason for those strange skeletons. 0

Moreover, once an Alchemical Matrix was formed, it indeed possessed the ability to strip away warmth. If both stripping and purifying abilities were generated simultaneously, it indicated that this layer of Alchemical Matrix was a sophisticated module generated by advanced Alchemical language. 0

"Is that really true? That sounds amazing!" The others gasped in surprise. However, when Freyr glanced at Ross, he noticed Ross had turned away from everyone, his chin resting on his hand as he appeared deep in thought. His expression was pale and somber, possibly recalling some unpleasant memories; just his silent demeanor felt like an iceberg looming over them, bringing an undeniable chill. 0

"Um, does anyone else feel something strange? My scalp feels tingly; how about you all?" Freyr spoke up immediately. Upon hearing this, everyone nodded involuntarily; they too felt signs of tingling on their scalps. This confirmed that something was indeed wrong—it wasn’t just Freyr’s imagination but a collective sense that something was off. 0

Just as they were pondering this oddity, Ross suddenly looked up towards the ceiling. Everyone followed his gaze in surprise and indeed spotted a flicker of light far above them. A crack in the rock wall appeared to be forming gaps through which human eyes could see. 0

These gaps were indeed growing larger by the moment, and soon they saw a strong light flashing above—like a pair of eyes watching over the group below. But in such an isolated Catacomb, how could anyone be up there observing them? 0

The only possibility of what was observing them below was that it was not human. If it wasn't human, then what could it be? At this thought, their expressions subtly changed. Indeed, if it wasn't human, the greatest likelihood was that whatever it was had already discovered their presence and was planning to come down. 0

Moreover, the gap above them was widening. If it opened any further, that structure would collapse entirely. Regardless of the entity's attack power, the ability to destroy rock layers with bare hands indicated its strength. 0

"It has already found us! Follow me, everyone hold your breath and move quickly!" Freyr suddenly shouted. He didn't care whether it had truly noticed them; since it had begun to damage the rock layers, it certainly must have detected the activities of the group below. Otherwise, the Guardian wouldn't be making such a foolish move to destroy the structure of this Catacomb. After all, this was its base of survival. Once outside, survival would be impossible; exposure to sunlight would cause it to disintegrate. The original engineering design was for modules like the Alchemical Matrix, so as long as they left the range of this Catacomb and never returned, they would be safe forever. 0

Everyone plunged into the water. Freyr led them downward swiftly. Just as they reached the bottom, ripples spread across the surface accompanied by a thunderous splash—something had fallen into the water. Among those splashes were certainly some stones. 0

They quickly dodged to avoid being hit. Fortunately, the team remained cohesive; however, some were momentarily stunned by the sight. When another object fell into the water, they snapped back to reality and hurriedly followed Freyr's retreating figure. 0

That figure had already distanced itself somewhat, but if they wanted to catch up, they could still muster their strength and do so—it wasn't impossible at all. 0
