Confronting the flying off-road vehicle, their spirits lifted considerably.
In addition, the car's appearance had become very stylish. In the future, when it came to ambushes related to the Zerg on the ground, they wouldn't even need to be physically restrained on the ground; as long as there were no flying insects among them, their situation would be greatly improved.
Furthermore, they carefully observed the vehicle's functions. Aside from being equipped with an engine and flying apparatus, it also contained a Nitrogen Storage Container and a power circulation device. This was a type of current circulation system that provided the energy necessary for the vehicle to fly. The technology had advanced to the point where it could generate power autonomously, allowing this vehicle to remain airborne for up to eight hours.
Just like the current in a toy remote-controlled car, if it flew continuously for eight hours, it would need to take breaks during that time. Additionally, this vehicle had a ground mode; although it was an aircraft, it still needed to run on the ground like a car. When driving on land, it would automatically switch to fuel mode.
However, since this flying car was newly developed and had many areas that needed improvement, it was priced quite cheaply at the outset. Although Freyr was already wealthy and viewed money merely as a numerical value, this flying car was still more expensive than the antique car his Great-Grandfather had purchased. That antique car had become priceless over time, while this flying car's family lineage was worth at least hundreds of millions.
A price tag of over one hundred million was exorbitant. While their family's wealth was substantial, spending one billion on a single vehicle seemed excessive. It wasn't that they couldn't afford it, but no one wanted to buy an unrefined flying car when they could instead purchase an Ultrasonic Airship. Such a cost-performance ratio was something any businessman could easily recognize.
Thus, Freyr did not pay the full amount this time; instead, he exchanged two off-road vehicles using Reward Points as collateral and had them fully refurbished. This marked a significant transformation.
However, having this vehicle brought about numerous opportunities. For instance, survival became less of a probabilistic event; with the ability to fly, many previously encountered problems could now be easily resolved.
There was nothing wrong with this line of thinking; the team's future welcomed new possibilities. At this point, Freyr also considered upgrading the team’s construction. Initially, this would require some Reward Points, but it wasn't a significant concern since he could fully cover that expense.
If they upgraded the team’s construction level, it seemed likely that a new member would be added in the future. This new member could either be applied for through the association or filled in later when needed.
Moreover, their immediate priority was to upgrade team construction. To achieve this, they boarded the off-road vehicle and entered Flight Mode. Sure enough, the vehicle took off immediately and could drive itself once a destination was locked in place, eliminating the hassle of manual driving. Although electronic devices sometimes seemed unreliable, the thought of avoiding unnecessary troubles made this feature quite appealing.
Since it was their first time piloting, they had to monitor everything closely throughout the journey. With the help of driving regulations and an operation manual, they finally set up several frequently visited destinations. This time, their destination was set for Hunter Association's Wanderer's Home.
Although there had been talk of a Life Invisibility Cloak that could conceal Aircraft, such remarkable inventions in modern technology had yet to be effectively utilized in real combat. After all, the current enemy was the ancient Zerg, whose cultural essence remained rooted in humanity's Stone Age. They relied solely on instinct and physical strength to navigate their surroundings, growing stronger through combat, yet it was uncertain how many generations it would take for them to develop human-like intelligence.
However, humanity could not afford to give them too many opportunities. Once a chance arose, they would initiate the Judgment-style Cleansing Plan. The existence of either race posed a devastating threat to the other; only one race could sustainably thrive on Earth.
Humans were indeed a terrifying species, potentially preventing any similar creatures from existing on the planet to avoid forming connections that could lead to revenge. While the idea of seeking vengeance might sound absurd, it was plausible based on fundamental biological principles and criminal behavior. Even a slight error in this regard was unacceptable; for humans, Earth was the only territory where they could reproduce and live comfortably.
Though humans could also set their sights on distant Outer Space in search of suitable habitats, it remained uncertain how many years it would take to find such places.
Instead of waiting, it would be more efficient to seek revenge on the insects while simultaneously searching for a new home. If the latter could be accomplished, it would save a significant amount of time and allow for a more focused search for a new residence.
"Alright then, let's see," Freyr said as he attempted to operate the vehicle. Immediately, the flying car lifted off the ground and began spinning 360 degrees. They initially thought the vehicle had malfunctioned; however, this was merely a basic phenomenon during energy calibration. Fortunately, everyone inside was safe and secured by their seatbelts, preventing anyone from falling out.
According to the operating manual, there was also a self-destruct button installed in the vehicle, designed to turn it into an explosive device in times of crisis. It seemed that their vehicle possessed such hidden threats; however, there was no need for concern. No matter how intense the collisions or even if the vehicle endured flames, the explosives inside would remain undisturbed.
After all, if explosives were so easily triggered, safety considerations would have prevented them from being installed in the first place. These explosives had been properly handled and were classified as Alchemical Bombs, with power comparable to Marine Corps tactical nuclear warheads.
Despite seeing the explicit self-destruct clause in the manual being somewhat alarming, the flying car briefly halted before accelerating forward rapidly.
The vehicle's automatic operation even included a flat map that copied the terrain inside, ensuring that tall buildings would not become collision targets. However, this system required regular updates to maintain its effectiveness.
As a result, it seemed that their workload had increased before bedtime.
The flying car maintained impressive speed, reaching 100 kilometers per hour. It was worth noting that running on the ground sometimes did not achieve such speeds due to winding roads that could never be perfectly straight.
However, flying in the air eliminates some concerns, maintaining an initial constant speed of over 100 kilometers. If you feel uncomfortable with your eyes, you can close the window or reduce your speed.
