Listening to Relock, others could tell he had strong opinions about the Boss family, particularly because they had provided significant help to him and his family.
So even when the young master found himself embroiled in scandalous rumors, Relock would go to great lengths to defend him and maintain his image. Although his approach was somewhat rigid and not very palatable, they were all companions now, making it all seem inconsequential.
"You can't say that. Until we have a conclusion about Commander’s preferences, you can’t just assume he doesn’t like someone like me," Xiong Tai couldn't help but interject.
Ross chuckled, "Maybe he does like me; who knows? You silly Gorilla. But what you just said is true. Until we reach a conclusion, we can’t know that Commander’s interests are actually so broad. Do you think he prefers me in black stockings or white ones? Should I go completely wild?"
Parker smacked his forehead beside them. "Guys, can you be a bit more normal? Our Commander is getting ruined by your antics! It’s really awkward for us watching this back and forth. I swear, you two might as well be a couple; if you don’t get married, it would be a disservice to humanity!"
Unexpectedly, Xiong Tai snorted and continued, "Hmph, don’t provoke me like that. If I liked someone, even if it were a man, I’d marry him. Do you believe that?" As he spoke, he shot a flirtatious glance at Ross, who stood there with an expression of indifference, looking as if he might turn to stone. But once Ross processed what had happened, he quickly regained his composure.
"Uh, what was that angle? It looked like you were about to kiss," Parker chimed in to ease the tension. Indeed, from their vantage point, it appeared as though the two at the dining table were almost leaning into each other, with barely any distance between their lips.
"Oh my gosh! If Commander has that kind of preference, then my chance has come! I could marry into wealth!" Xiong Tai continued jokingly.
Relock still seemed puzzled. "Ahem, I still find it hard to believe that the young master would do something like that."
"Don’t doubt it! You saw it with your own eyes; no one was forcing him at knife-point to act," Ross replied.
Mackey added thoughtfully, "I feel like something's off here. It seems a bit like a visual misalignment. A friend of mine who works in film often mentions how kissing scenes and knife wounds are created through visual misalignment."
The others looked at him in astonishment.
Mackey finally found his sense of presence and boasted, "It's nothing, I learned all this from my friend."
Xiong Tai was taken aback, and the others looked at him with mischievous smiles. "Someone's dream of marrying into a wealthy family has been shattered."
"I've moved on from you. I won't have any thoughts about that kind of life anymore. I'm quite happy living an ordinary life, thank you. If you come by in the future, please make sure to order the full-price set meal according to the menu, instead of just getting a glass of water and lingering for an hour to take advantage. I look down on that kind of behavior. Even so, I'm treating you as a customer now, so please don't do that again. This restaurant isn't mine; it's my boss's. After searching for so long, I've finally found a job that can support myself, and I don't want to lose it because of this, understand?" Wu Hua said.
As he spoke, he returned to the bar area of the restaurant, flipping the spatula with force before bringing out a steaming bowl of Fried Noodles.
The aroma of the Fried Noodles was indeed enticing, but Freyr had undergone body sculpting and had been advised by a Nutritionist to avoid junk food. Although it looked high in starch and fat, with wilted vegetables lacking in nutrition, he took two bites and found it unappetizing. He decided to adhere to the Nutritionist's recommendations and tossed the entire bowl into the trash. He pulled out a large bill from his wallet, slapped it on the table, and walked out.
Wu Hua turned around and noticed that the plate was empty. Looking at the remnants in the trash can, he realized that Freyr had thrown it away. It seemed that coming to eat was just a pretense; he had really come to chat and check on his situation.
On another side, Xiong Tai and the others noticed someone approaching them and instinctively stepped back. However, their movements were still a bit slow; their presence had already been detected. They shouldn't forget that even if they could mask their aura, hunters possessed keen observational skills and strong predictive abilities with their ears. Thus, even an ordinary hunter would not overlook such details if they concentrated.
Hiding inside, Freyr was aware that someone was present but chose to ignore it as he walked past slowly.
He descended the stairs and continued downwards.
"What should we do? Should we keep following him?" Xiong Tai asked.
"Um..." Mackey hesitated but quickly regained his composure and continued to gesture, "I think it's just a false alarm; there's no need to follow him anymore. I still want to go back and practice my newly acquired abilities. Don't you all want to practice too? Since we have some free time, why not help me assemble some explosives?" Maggie glanced over, and many people turned back thoughtfully while ignoring his words.
"Oh right! At this time, I really should be heading home," Ross added.
“Mackey” glanced at him, and when Ross noticed, he had already turned his eyes away. The others standing nearby awkwardly whistled, creating an extremely uncomfortable atmosphere. It dawned on him that he shouldn’t have been so chatty; asking for their help could indeed complicate things. Perhaps it was better to go back and figure out the research on his own.
“Xiong Tai” spoke up, “Oh right, I have something to do too. I need to head back to my den and tidy up a bit. It’s been ages since I last went back, and it’s probably as messy as a pigsty.”
“Alright, alright, you all go ahead. Don’t mind me; I can handle this alone,” “Maggie” smiled. In truth, it was just an excuse; he could definitely manage those volatile materials by himself. Having more people around would only make the situation more chaotic!
But they were independent individuals, each with a strong sense of time.
“Okay, see you at the usual place on time,” Ross said.
“I need to head back too; I can’t keep the young master waiting,” “Relock” replied, turning and walking down the inner corridor without looking back.
“Mackey” smiled and said, “Ah, these guys…”
Just as he was about to think of something else, he realized only one person remained standing there. Just one person—how lonely that felt. Shaking his head, he was the last to head downstairs.
