They arrived at the outskirts of the Black Forest, hiding their vehicle well before gearing up and heading into the depths of the forest. 0

In fact, this was their first time entering such a forest, which resembled a lifeless gathering place. The black leaves, gnarled dead trees, and the hard, jagged stones scattered everywhere made it seem unlikely for any life to thrive here. The ground was hard, making it truly strange if anything could grow in such an environment. 0

However, it was indeed peculiar. As they ventured deeper, they often found that there were no other creatures around. There were many snakes, and while not everyone in the team feared them, they certainly didn’t like them either. Particularly strange was the presence of a type of Amazonian Green Anaconda that seemed to thrive in this eerie place. The world was full of wonders; these snakes were particularly sensitive to any attacks on their kind. Even if just one from their group was affected, the others would pounce on the intruder until they had annihilated the threat completely. 0

They weren’t afraid of insects; most insects confronted these snakes as if they were mice facing cats—an instinctual enmity. It wasn’t a complete rivalry; whoever was strong enough could devour the other. Since there were so many snakes here, it indicated a rich food chain. Yet, after walking half a kilometer in, all they saw were bare branches with no signs of beasts—no footprints or traces at all. In an ordinary forest without those terrifying venomous snakes, it might have been a decent place for meditation and tranquility. Unfortunately, this place was utterly unsuitable for life. 0

But what about these so-called snakes? Most of them coiled around branches, lying in wait as they observed the creatures below moving slowly forward. It felt as if some divine force was manipulating human fate, playing with them like pieces on a chessboard—whoever was marked for death must meet their end. 0

Freyr sensed something unusual—not the kind that signaled danger but rather an unsettling premonition about unknown things or events yet to unfold. Whenever this feeling arose, it often preceded something frightening. Sure enough, he felt a chill creeping up his back. 0

“Bad news! Everyone stay alert!” Freyr shouted. He quickly concentrated Elemental Power and infused it into the Survey Gem, activating its recording function. Each infusion allowed for two recordings; even if it was tucked away in his pocket or covered by cloth, it wouldn’t miss capturing any events. 0

Suddenly, the ground rumbled violently, followed by tremors shaking the other side of the forest. The snakes recoiled in unison, clearly afraid of something. Whatever could instill fear in Amazonian Deadly Poison Snakes and Forest Pythons must be a significant threat that added immense danger to their mission. 0

No one had ever considered this forest to be safe; however, their mission indicated that it concealed many powerful insects from the Zerg. The reality they faced deviated significantly from their expectations—far more than just slightly. 0

The vibrations soon faded away, replaced by a wave of heat washing over them from above. 0

“What’s going on? What are you afraid of?” Xiong Tai asked as he noticed Ross looking as if he had seen a ghost. Feeling awkward, he stepped forward and nudged him. Even slapping him in front of others didn’t snap him out of his nightmarish state; his gaze remained fixed on something above him. 0

“Ah~” 0

Xiong Tai followed his gaze upward and, sure enough, among the dense thicket, there was a slight opening that seemed deliberately made. A pair of strange eyes were intently watching their every move. Through the gaps in the leaves, it was easy to see the shadow of a head resembling that of an eagle, complete with a sharp beak. 0

However, the rest of its body was obscured by the foliage, making it difficult to discern clearly. The hot breath escaping its nostrils carried a faint scent of blood, as if it had recently devoured a live prey. It seemed unsatisfied, still fixated on the six oddly dressed creatures before it, much like a friend playing with a cake on a platter. 0

Even from a distance, the creature's physique was imposing. This explained why the environment here had undergone such drastic changes, allowing the Forest Pythons to thrive. It appeared that this so-called Zerg had been wiped out in this area, and now everything was closely tied to that massive creature. 0

“Shark Eagle—an intermediate Parasite Beast, probably around level 15,” Parker Parkinson suddenly exclaimed. Freyr turned to look as well and confirmed Parker's observation. Among Parasite Beasts, this intermediate quality was already quite terrifying; possessing the power to completely annihilate a race was truly formidable. One should note that even an enhanced human battalion stationed in this Black Forest might not emerge unscathed. 0

To wipe out an entire species required immense strength. As of now, the Shark Eagle had not fully noticed them, which provided some relief. Although it was watching them closely, given their size, they resembled ants; even if it decided to eat them, it might not be enough to satisfy its hunger. 0

The appearance of a Shark Eagle in this area indicated that the food chain here was exceptionally rich—enough for it to feast abundantly. 0

But honestly, what food could there possibly be here? 0

Freyr pondered this and had a thought: Could it be waiting for an opportunity to strike? With so many snakes around, there must be some long-lived ones among them, likely of considerable size. The massive bodies of Amazonian Green Anacondas looked relatively impressive, but there was also something more dangerous and larger—a Naga Serpent God that could fall under the category of Parasite Beasts. 0

The Naga Snake God was the leader of the serpent race, with strength around level 17—though slightly higher in level, its quality remained comparable. 0

There shouldn't be too much discrepancy between them; they were not only adversaries but also rare equals in skill. 0

“What is he doing?” Ross suddenly reacted and became increasingly agitated, his voice loud. 0

“Shh! Quiet down!” someone nearby pulled him back and covered his mouth. They leaned closer and whispered in his ear: “The Shark Eagle only appears when hunting and prefers to wait patiently. As long as you don’t enter its line of sight, you won’t be attacked. If it considers you worthy prey, your life will end. Our size is too small for it to bother with us; it’s likely looking for something larger as its meal.” 0
