After a week of rest, Freyr and the others returned to Wanderer's Home. They had completed their mission, which was to exchange for their return to this place.
On the second floor, they went back to the Technology Building.
This floor remained the same as before, but their purpose for being here had changed. They were no longer the broke kids who came to look around aimlessly; now they had over two thousand five hundred Reward Points in hand. They were here to see what suitable items they could pick up.
However, they didn't go to the third floor mainly because the second floor offered better value. Although the third floor looked appealing, most of its endowments were for later development. The initial Gene Endowments, unless they were common ones like Immense Strength, were either peak exchanges or subpar items that required a certain level of capital before considering future plans.
They arrived at the Weapon Exhibition Line, knowing that the high-grade armor from the Armor Exhibition Line was absolutely out of their budget. The high-grade weapons on display here were also unaffordable. Weapons like the Gauss Submachine Gun came with custom ammunition that also needed to be exchanged with Reward Points. Not to mention those top-tier weapons that could leave a team financially crippled in seconds; even the Soldier-Level Hunter Team couldn't afford such firepower, let alone the 09 Military-Level Hunter Team they had previously collaborated with.
In reality, they could only look at lower-tier weaponry. A High-Explosive Bomb could be exchanged for just over ten Score points, allowing them to arm themselves as an explosive unit, which was a solid choice given their team configuration.
However, their Reward Points were not so limited that they could only consider this option. With zero Reward Points, tightening their belts would still allow them to buy many things. The most practical item was the so-called Spatial Ring. Although it sounded impressive, it had restrictions based on capacity—different cubic meters had different prices. They could initially exchange for a smaller Spatial Ring and later upgrade to a larger one; however, a Spatial Ring with zero cubic capacity cost 400 Reward Points.
It didn't seem too expensive. After some silent consideration, they decided to purchase this ring, which would be kept by their leader, Freyr.
The atmosphere within the team began to shift as they executed that mission. They truly felt that Freyr's leadership set them apart from other Commanders. Even those who hadn't contributed much gained something; for instance, Relock received a new military-grade Barrett rifle. Although it was an outdated model, its power was sufficient to take down an armored vehicle with ease.
Sniping required precision and a single lethal shot, which complemented Relock's Point-Line Eye ability perfectly—there was no reason not to accept it. All that remained was for him to receive seven or eight boxes of specialized sniper ammunition after each mission, costing less than 100 Reward Points in total; both the gun and bullets were now in hand.
However, simply having a Sniper Rifle did not create an advantageous tactical synergy since it was too ordinary; even regular soldiers could think of such tactics.
Therefore, unless it was a matter of life and death, he generally wouldn't use his Sniper Rifle for cover fire; others needed to find suitable weapons as well.
First, there was the Wolf Fang Club, a weapon that looked incredibly brutal and weighed a hundred kilograms. Xiong Tai was absolutely delighted as he looked at it.
He kept bothering others for ideas, but in the end, they couldn't resist his enthusiasm and agreed on the Wolf Fang Club. It seemed to have a considerable weight, but that might not be its main advantage. If combined with kinetic energy, it could indeed be a formidable weapon on the battlefield. In fact, any weapon suitable for team members could be used to enhance their strength.
As soon as the Wolf Fang Club was exchanged, Xiong Tai couldn't help but lift it onto his shoulder. The hundred-pound club was surprisingly held by his two hands, and just lifting it seemed to take a lot of effort. Could such a weapon really be used to kill? The opponent was the Zerg, who wouldn't foolishly stand still waiting for him to throw a deadly strike unless they were all just standing there like dummies.
Parker only requested a pair of goggles and two handguns, but there weren't any suitable specifications for the handguns.
Based on his palm size, Freyr quickly exchanged two Desert Eagles for him. One of these guns had a stronger recoil and the other had been specially modified, making it more expensive. The total cost for both firearms was about the same as zero Reward Points.
Freyr didn't mind; he picked up a very ordinary blade for himself. It looked quite plain, except that the blade was somewhat long, making it easy to cut himself during sheathing. However, such minor injuries shouldn't matter much; he usually took care of his body well, especially since his skills in swordsmanship were beyond what an ordinary Kendo Hall instructor could teach.
To be honest, if he didn't have to fight against the Zerg later on, he would rather abandon his family's interests and become a Famous Sword instructor. At least that would fulfill one of his dreams. In the peaceful days long ago, sword instructors were highly respected by others as they educated generations of swordsmen who grew and evolved over time; this could be considered a form of fulfillment.
The sword he acquired wasn't too expensive. On the other side, Ross specifically requested a bow and several Feathered Blades along with a quiver. He intended to be one of the Pillars of the Community within the team. In fact, his bow wasn't cheap at all; he directly spent Reward Points on it, which appeared to be an ordinary bow and arrow set.
However, they were unaware of its main feature: this bow could shoot accurately regardless of where he aimed.
According to Cat's Eye and his own instincts, shooting arrows wasn't as simple as imagined; even a fool wielding that Feather could easily demonstrate championship-level archery skills.
Moreover, those Feathers could only be exchanged on the second floor later. There were many high-tech materials available for Feathers as well as primitive ones coated with poison. The high-tech materials could be tied to Alchemical Bombs capable of penetrating two meters of hardened steel—truly formidable power.
After helping all team members exchange their weapons, their Merit Cards felt rather empty.
As for the previous bombs and reserves, it was even more impossible to consider, as there were no Reward Points left. With the next mission approaching, they needed to prepare well. It seemed that spending money to improve their replacement equipment was the only option.
Returning to the first floor, they handed the Merit Card back to Silver Granny for deduction, agreeing to take their weapons and step out the door.
