Freyr paused for a moment, quickly regaining his composure. "Alright, if there's something to discuss, let's do it privately. We shouldn't talk about such matters in a place like this, understand? It could have negative consequences." 0

"I understand. Now hurry up and help me get ready," Mackey replied with a slight nod. 0

Freyr quickly responded, "Where are they? What's the situation now?" 0

Mackey's expression shifted as he realized it was about the two individuals. "I remember that their entire team can't stay together; they must act separately. They're on the other side covering for us, so they must have made some plans." 0

Freyr nodded. "That's good. We're a team; sometimes it's enough to understand each other without words. I mean no harm." 0

The butler applied a special powder to everyone, and then they waited for the scent to become less overwhelming. However, the powder reacted on their skin, causing an intense itch that they were immediately told not to scratch. They understood that the butler was only looking out for them by preventing them from touching the forbidden areas. 0

Now, even eating was a challenge as they couldn't use their hands. The butler prepared some delicious food and came over to feed them personally. 0

The group squatted inside a specially designed large wooden tub, which helped keep the scent strong without dispersing too quickly. In reality, this method was somewhat forced; their hands were bound inside the tub, leaving only their heads exposed, resembling a sweat therapy method mentioned in books. 0

While feeding them, the butler kindly asked if there was anything else they needed to discuss. Freyr simply instructed him to bring a piece of paper and a pen, as he used to write letters to his family. 0

This habit had become second nature; he took the paper and pen and dictated while the butler wrote it down for him. 0

After finishing the letter, he wrapped it in paper and then handed most of the money from his wallet to the butler. 0

The butler was somewhat touched and asked why he felt the need to do this. 0

In truth, it wasn't necessary to go this far. Freyr quickly replied that since they would be staying here for half a month, he still needed to pay; it's better to be honest in life. 0

The envelope remained pressed down as per the rules, waiting for him to complete his mission. If he failed, it would be sent back to the address left behind. When there was nothing else to do, the butler would be summoned, busying himself with some tasks at hand. 0

As they accompanied him into the evening, the thought that they might die was unsettling. Having someone to talk to helped ease the fear that lingered in their hearts. 0

Once the butler left, the room felt significantly emptier. 0

After a long silence, Mackey suddenly spoke up, responding, "Aren't you all afraid? Not afraid of death? Why is that? Commander, tell us about your past. I really want to know why you've become so indifferent to death. When you mentioned it, what struck me most wasn't your nonchalance towards it, but rather the helplessness you displayed when confronting it. That's why you laughed. What happened to make you view things this way?" 0

Relock seemed to react as he opened his eyes, not rushing to answer but instead looking towards Freyr. He had spent a considerable amount of time with his boss, but their interactions were mostly limited to discussions about missions. They had only shared a meaningful conversation a few years ago and had since remained distant. Now seemed like a good opportunity to learn more about his boss's past. 0

Xiong Tai chimed in enthusiastically, "Yeah, yeah! Let us know about your past!" 0

"What is there to tell? There's nothing good about it. Some memories are gone; I've had surgery on my brain. So you understand, this must be a response from the remnants of my physical memories," Freyr replied indifferently. 0

"Brain surgery? That sounds interesting. Was it for a mission?" Mackey asked, momentarily taken aback. What kind of mission could require such a thing? His memory recalled the most significant battle that had occurred recently. 0

It was the battle three years ago, where countless soldiers lost their lives. Even many formidable hunters perished in the chaos of war. 0

Could it have been that battle? He felt a jolt of shock; if it was from that fight, he was much younger then and could barely nod in acknowledgment. A young person like him sustaining such severe injuries on the battlefield—Mackey reflected on his own role in that war. Oh right, he had merely been involved in logistics, transporting weapons and managing food supplies. 0

He had never faced the horrors of war directly but had been fortunate enough to carry injured soldiers up the Tower. The sight of those who had endured the ravages of battle still haunted him. 0

"Ah, so it must have been that battle three years ago? Hunters who experienced it can only be described as brave. My commander died in that battle too; perhaps we crossed paths back then, but you might have forgotten me," Mackey replied lightly. 0

"It doesn't matter; I've forgotten. What difference does remembering make? But now you're my teammate, and that's enough for me. Since I've forgotten the past, I’ll treat it as if it never happened. What does it have to do with me?" Freyr responded calmly. 0

It seemed that the question was unnecessary, as the atmosphere quickly grew cold again. 0

In contrast, the people in this team appeared to be poor at conversation; even awkward small talk would not have much effect. After Freyr finished speaking, he closed his eyes and fell asleep, unaware that the others beside him were looking at him with incredulity, including Relock, who couldn't believe it either. 0

Those who had never been on the battlefield indeed had no right to gossip behind others' backs. The one who had initiated the conversation, Mackey, also fell silent. 0

Time passed calmly. 0

The butler, having finished his tasks, came upstairs. He dismantled the wooden barrel and finally released everyone. 0

Aside from a slight odor, it was no longer unbearable for an ordinary person. 0

After all, a smell was not too much of a burden for humans; if it was just a little odor, it could be tolerated, but something like the stench of a garbage dump would likely be intolerable. 0

"Oh? There's really no smell at all," Xiong Tai said as he sniffed his armpit and laughed. 0

"Of course, this is a specially formulated scent. As long as you don't come into contact with water, those things will keep a close watch on you. No matter where you run within a three-kilometer radius, they can track your location by following the scent. It's quite effective, almost like being cursed," the butler chuckled. 0

"Why is it that only you can obtain such suspicious things?" Freyr quickly asked. 0
