"Hu~"
Wu Hua took a deep breath, realizing it had indeed been a long time since he had taken action, and he felt an overwhelming fatigue wash over him.
The crowd around him instinctively dispersed; such incidents had occurred multiple times before, so there was no concern about anyone reporting it.
Everyone was bound by a shared Agreement, and countless eyes were always watching. Even those who might deliberately report would be swiftly exposed.
At that moment, no one would be willing to stand by his side; he would become the most superfluous person in the association.
A hunter whose character was questioned and who had long been sidelined.
Even on the battlefield, he had no shoulders to lean on or back to rely upon.
So even after being bullied for two years, Wu Hua would not report others' actions, even when he himself was mistreated. Such acts would only tarnish his character and lead him further down a lonely path.
Fighting was always shrouded in secrecy; the association often turned a blind eye. No one could truly adhere to the strict behavioral guidelines laid out in the rules.
However, this time was different. Wu Hua's motivation for taking action was not solely for himself but also for those two brothers who treated him like a foolish younger sibling and used him as a pawn.
Even if their character was questionable, it remained a family matter.
Being bullied by one's own brothers could be seen as a form of happiness.
Because in this world, only family could truly educate him and help him grow. No matter how close others might seem, they could never compare to the depth of blood ties. So even if he hated his brothers, he would never allow anyone else to tarnish his family's name; others were unworthy. His feelings for his family were deeply respected in his heart, even if his actions outwardly contradicted that sentiment.
Since the two brothers had encountered trouble during a mission, it had been a long time since he had returned home.
When he held his brother's urn, the look in his father's eyes was terrifying, as if he wanted to swallow him whole.
He never went back after that, too afraid to confront his family, not even daring to write letters back and forth.
His mother had long since passed away, and his father’s feelings towards him were as blank as a sheet of paper. The men of the Bellwulf Family were meant to endure the torment of a lonely life. For a long time, he had heard that this was how the men of his family lived, and now it was his turn to confront such a life.
This life, however, seemed to take care of him; at least it placed him in crowded places.
He would not experience loneliness, and although he was ostracized everywhere and regarded as the Death Star, he still felt that he was living quite happily.
No one knew how he had spent these past few years, and deep down, he truly did not wish to interact with others.
Not only did others see him as the Death Star, but the cursed warrior bloodline inherited from the Bellwulf Family would indeed doom anyone around him whom he trusted or grew close to.
Over the years, this would make him live like a statue, becoming numb and indifferent.
As time passed, he too would eventually die.
And by then, the Bellwulf Family would truly be in decline.
"Not bad~"
Suddenly, it felt as if someone had pushed him hard from behind.
Turning around, he saw three people standing there, all familiar faces.
After hesitating slightly at the sight of the three behind him, he calmly responded to the two in front: "What are you doing here~ Why haven't you left~"
"Leave~ Where to~" Xiong Tai replied nonchalantly, showing disdain.
"We came to find you and recruit you into our team~"
Freyr looked around at the chaotic surroundings, where a plump man was flailing his legs in a comical manner.
"I've made my decision clear. I will no longer fight. Don't you understand what I want to do and what I don't?" Wu Hua brushed off the dirt from his clothes, resolutely rejecting the other's intentions.
"What are you afraid of?"
"I have nothing to fear from you. Let's go," Wu Hua said angrily.
"Are you afraid that your cursed fate will continue to harm those around you?" Freyr paused, then smiled gently.
"That's not all. Those who have helped me will also gradually decline. I can already feel that I've affected you all in some way. Before things turn sour, stay away from me. I have no reason to keep fighting." Wu Hua pushed aside Relock and Xiong Tai, who were blocking his path, gritting his teeth.
"Damn it! With my temper, I really want to beat you up!"
Xiong Tai's anger flared up, his facial muscles twitching like a provoked thug.
Freyr immediately shot him a look, but Xiong Tai didn't catch on right away.
Relock reacted faster, grabbing Xiong Tai's arm to clear a path.
"What are you doing? Let me knock some sense into that guy! Don't you know the situation has changed?"
"Someone with his strength should be using it to their advantage. What else is there to think about?" Xiong Tai shouted.
"Listen to the boss," Relock interjected.
"Forget it. If he doesn't want to participate, then he won't. Even in this state, no one would dare bully him again. We shouldn't force someone who doesn't want to fight to contribute; that's just wrong."
"And we still have a list of newcomers. Let's see who Silver Granny brings over, and we can pick from them."
Freyr felt a sense of regret. He had hoped for something more, but it had ended up like this. With his hands stuffed in his pockets, he walked forward.
"There's no need to put him in a difficult position. Just watch how things unfold from here. It's getting late; you all should head back," he said, turning to leave before disappearing from sight, leaving the two behind staring blankly at his retreating figure.
"Hmph, it seems I've done something unnecessary. What do you think, Lei?" Xiong Tai said, patting his bald head with a grunt.
"I don't see anything wrong with it. Let's just listen to how Ming decides. I’m committed to following his lead; if he tells me to die, I would willingly do so. That's my duty," Relock replied, shaking his head slightly to express his opinion to Xiong Tai.
"You really are a good brother to Freyr. Fine, I won't worry about it anymore," Xiong Tai said, feeling carefree and deciding not to think about it any further as he turned and headed into his dormitory.
Relock looked around before walking out toward the entrance of the association.
He wasn't on the same path as Freyr; he was simply tasked with protecting his boss.
The place where Freyr stayed was heavily guarded, so there was no danger there, allowing him to take his leave for the time being.
As of now, he considered himself off duty.
