Abel Romeo gazed at Old Ba, his voice resonating throughout the room. 0

"Even so, his actions are still questionable. Not all officers agree that it's appropriate. Who would want to have a ticking time bomb at their side? Such a man could become a source of instability in the team. Soldiers are meant to obey orders; if anyone can act on impulse, leading the army will become difficult. Although I admit he has talent, he has crossed a line. If we don't punish him, we won't be able to uphold military discipline and set a good example for the troops." 0

After his earlier speech, Old Ba's aura had slightly diminished. He paused for a moment, glancing at the many officers present. Ultimately, he remained unwilling to back down. Such behavior always carried significant risks. Abel Romeo was known for having the best temperament among the eight generals and was the most understanding one as well. Perhaps due to the years Old Ba had spent following him, he felt entitled to directly reprimand him when he made mistakes. Their relationship was not only one of superior and subordinate but also akin to that of mentor and apprentice. Alternatively, Freyr and Duan Shuai's recent misdeeds—kidnapping an officer and recklessly leading their own mission—were indeed serious enough that either action could land them in military court. 0

The officers, particularly the Logistics Department head who had been tied up, wore grim expressions. If he had been slightly more capable, he might have been able to prevent Freyr and Duan Shuai's decisions. Yet in the end, he had been bound by his subordinates and taken away without resistance. Now, he came forward to report the situation, appearing almost cowardly as he bit his tongue, revealing his managerial shortcomings to his superiors. 0

His face bore an awkward smile as he subtly shook his head when no one was watching. 0

"Old Ba, we all had our youthful days. To us, they are like our juniors; young people make mistakes sometimes. The key is that after making a mistake, they should understand and correct it. Are you really willing to send them to military court? They are all talented kids! Your concerns should be discussed when the parties involved are present; otherwise, arguing here is futile." 0

The officers exchanged glances; a few of them tactfully placed their hands on Old Ba's shoulders and shook their heads at him, hoping he would refrain from continuing. It wasn't until the exercise was declared over that they learned about Freyr and Duan Shuai's unauthorized actions and that communication had just been restored. In this context, the highest commander of the Wolf Brigade suddenly initiated a video call, leading to an unexpected turn of events. 0

Meliev, one of the generals known for his consistent victories, angrily greeted the officers before breaking into a mischievous grin and raising an eyebrow at Abel Romeo. "Abel Romeo! Long time no see! It seems like you’ve become more cunning with age. You've trained such an impressive disciple that those few managed to fend off assassins I hired from the mercenary market! You’ve truly raised a fine apprentice—no wonder you're my rival! I'll remember this debt; next time I’ll return it with interest." 0

"What’s this?" Abel Romeo chuckled lightly. "Is this why you finally decided to contact me?" 0

"Hmph! You can never hide anything from me." Meliev replied with a soft hum before switching the Virtual Screen to a private two-person communication mode, dismissing all nearby officers. What began as a fierce argument unexpectedly turned into something else entirely. When General Meliev called in with an appreciative tone, the officers' hearts sank. 0

The communication continued for quite some time until Abel Romeo switched off the video call, disbelief evident in his eyes. He slammed his hand on the table heavily, his lips twitching unnaturally as he muttered, "Fate plays tricks on us; this doesn’t belong to me or any military faction. What will this child evolve into in the future?" 0

This remark left Old Ba outside with many questions swirling in his mind. He desperately wanted to eavesdrop on how the two generals assessed Freyr. Although he knew eavesdropping was wrong, he sensed Abel Romeo's hidden intention for him to wait outside from his gaze. Was that why he felt emboldened enough to stand there? 0

“Old Ba, come inside.” 0

At that moment, Old Ba had already considered several possibilities in his mind. Just as he was about to delve deeper into other potential scenarios, a meaningful summons echoed from within the room. 0

With no choice but to rein in his emotions, Old Ba pushed the door open. It seemed he was ready to confront the general with a fierce argument; after all, only he had that privilege within the entire Crimson Dragon Barracks. As he stepped into the room, the two doors behind him closed automatically. His mood was somewhat anxious, but he wasn’t prepared to broach the earlier topic. He lowered his head and silently awaited the general's response. 0

“Ah, at times like this, you’re the only one in the entire camp who can share my burdens, Old Ba. Back in the day, we had so many brothers; now you’re the last one left. Sometimes, it’s thanks to you that I can snap out of it. More often than not, you’re better suited for this position as general,” Abel Romeo said, a hint of sorrow welling up in his heart as he continued. 0

Old Ba felt a jolt at those words, fully aware that when Abel Romeo spoke like this, something serious was likely happening. As a former comrade and a brother who had shared both joys and sorrows, he felt an undeniable duty to help shoulder his brother's burdens—even if it meant laying down his life for him. 0

Clenching his trembling fists, he raised his head and shouted with a heart-wrenching roar, “What kind of joke is this? Abel Romeo, you are a general now; you need to have a broader vision! Sentimentality will only lead to your downfall. Even if you order a pardon for those two who seriously violated regulations during the exercise, what difference does it make? As your brother, Old Ba can still suppress any others who dare to break discipline with force!” 0

“Hahaha!” 0

“What~” 0

Old Ba was taken aback once more; could it be that Abel Romeo had suffered some immense shock? 0

In his astonishment, Old Ba then saw General Romeo throw back his head and laugh heartily. At that moment, Abel Romeo had reverted to the demeanor of a general, which brought some comfort to Old Ba. 0

“Are you testing me?” Old Ba thought he understood what was happening. He took a step forward and noticed General Romeo squinting at him with a habitual smile that sent chills down his spine. 0

General Romeo quickly shook his head and stepped closer to pat Old Ba on the shoulder. “No, my good brother, I have something I need from you.” 0

Old Ba stared at him in astonishment. He should have known Abel Romeo's temperament; this general had always been cunning, and there must have been many who had been toyed with by him. However, it couldn't be that he was going to play tricks on Old Comrade now. Yet, at that moment, he furrowed his brow slightly, feeling that something was still off, sensing that Abel Romeo's grip was tightening. 0

Old Ba adopted a nonchalant attitude as if he understood everything. "What kind of mission is it? Old Ba will definitely complete the task assigned by the higher-ups." 0
