"Operation plan change begins, the logistics team is fully distributing supplies?"
The Dream Domain is a conscious space generated by the Dream Space, a convenient research product of technology. The realm of dreams is infinite, and it is clear that in the world of dreams, one can endlessly adjust the flaws present in their legion.
Initially, the Dream Domain could only simulate a segment of real combat, but after improvements and long-term development, scientists connected collective consciousness together to form a shared spiritual world. In this dream space, years or even decades can pass, while in the outside world, it may only be a little over an hour.
Moreover, fighting in the Confronting dream world also produces sensations of pain. This indirectly informs everyone involved in the battle that although their consciousness is immensely powerful upon entering this dream domain—where they can even achieve immortality—truly being invulnerable remains quite difficult. Weapons can be obtained through decryption methods, akin to gradually enhancing one's strength in a virtual game world. Ultimately, some individuals even donned Biological Armor.
At least during this period before his Awakening, he was a leading figure in this space. Now, however, the entire legion had already lost three battalions. Freyr was leading a group of newcomers; however, they had likely endured several years of life-and-death trials within the apocalyptic environment created by the dream space. At this stage, they had already transformed into veterans. He was the squad leader of the Third Team and undoubtedly held a position akin to that of a trusted leader.
Freyr forcefully maneuvered the giant biological weapon from the base—the Moon Krypton mech. The mech model was the oldest Type II chassis. In terms of weaponry, aside from Patriot Missiles, there were also a limited number of Sparrow Missiles. Additionally, for close combat weapons, there was a High-Vibration Cutting Blade capable of rivaling initial mech models.
The High-Vibration Cutting Blade was immensely powerful, capable of breaking through the encirclement of the Zerg with sheer force. The encirclement consisted of layers upon layers; such intensity would only create a few seconds' gap before it quickly closed again.
As another round of Sparrow Missiles replenished from the magazine, Freyr pressed the launch button. The display screen showed the rapid collapse of light spots on the sonar radar range.
"This is bad!"
Clearly, this was the final full replenishment of Sparrow Missiles. The weapon bay had limited space; every component of the mech reached peak design standards. There was no possibility to add other weapon bays without compromising overall balance, which would greatly endanger maneuverability.
Most troops surged out from the explosive encirclement without looking back; the fortress had completely fallen. The Division's firepower had just begun to strengthen significantly. With the highest commander's authority and Black Card access for maximum defense, they still consumed vast amounts of power. The Zerg pressed forward with their low-level troops swarming in.
This fortress had been besieged for nearly half a year and ultimately fell under the relentless assault of the Zerg. Freyr's mech was engulfed by the tide of insects; only fleeting arcs of light swept past as he fought off creatures that couldn't breach half a meter radius around him. The High-Vibration Cutting Blade flowed like water as he executed extraordinary sword techniques—two-flow style, divine thought flow, protective spirit techniques—creating a massive rift in the Insectoid tide.
He pushed deeper into enemy lines until his mech's power supply ran dry. A hole was pierced through his back as green liquid-like insect waves surged forth to bury him beneath the rubble.
The fortress's destruction mode had already activated. Other troops struggling to break through in different directions experienced intense explosions as they rushed out from encirclement.
Additionally, this war that had plagued them for nearly half a year ended with heavy losses. Although it was merely a simulated battle, those who sacrificed during it would not return to the dream realm. Months later, morale within the Crimson Dragon Army plummeted sharply; ultimately forcing even the Logistics Department to join strategic deployment plans.
Furthermore, an entire Division's numbers drastically decreased; only lower-tier units remained in Battalions One and Two. First and Third Squads suffered losses up to 80%, with only Second Squad retaining some survivors; Third Battalion faced catastrophic losses with only one training unit left intact but filled with veterans willing to risk their lives in battle.
The casualty count reached over a thousand people; however, it remained uncertain how many would survive under subsequent attacks. The Logistics Department team suffered complete annihilation; Third Squad faced severe casualties with only one person remaining—Froth.
Froth was ill-suited for direct involvement in warfare; his weapon was an ultra-heavy Sniper Rifle. Upon entering the dream realm and exchanging points for a Gene Pill through Score, he unexpectedly gained an exceptional ability—Exclusive Eagle Eye. Although this ability would vanish once consciousness returned to its original form, its remarkable vision greatly benefited team plans for strengthening during this time.
"I must survive until the end!"
Froth silently vowed to himself and then boarded a helicopter.
As the helicopter flew away, insect-like creatures resembling Mantis attacked. Their stripes flickered, allowing them to blend into the dim corners for ambush, while their natural camouflage could deceive the naked eye, though it could not fool sonar radar.
Two modified bio-humans emerged from the helicopter, their flesh-like pupils revealing a flickering light pattern. This structure was derived from basic infrared and surface heat transmission images. These two were essentially members of the Crimson Dragon Army, willingly transformed into tangible biological weapons at a high cost.
Bullets flew rapidly, and their arms morphed into silvery liquid forms, reshaping into dark gun barrels. It seemed that what would be fired from these barrels would not be bullets, but rather the terrifyingly powerful Sparrow Missiles.
The insects were blown to bits by the barrage, and the helicopter slowly retreated without fear.
With the fortress destroyed, humanity's last Base Camp in this world was lost as well. The fate of those who remained would undoubtedly be fraught with hardship.
"Alright, wake up!"
The sound of metal clashing echoed, accompanied by the crisp sound of wooden clogs. Many people opened their eyes, with only a few still sleeping in the Machine Pod due to the limited number of bases that could accommodate thousands. Others were induced into similar dreams through Dream Space's hypnotic waves.
Freyr awoke once again from a disorienting nightmare. The first thing he saw was the time on the Virtual Screen.
It was already past seven in the morning. He vaguely remembered sitting in a mech battling against the Zerg until the end, ultimately being consumed by the bugs. However, he had completed the mission assigned by his superiors at military headquarters. His team had been designated as a Suicide Squad, meant only for sacrifice. In the years or even decades following his unknown death, only a few from that dream had survived, living lives perhaps worse than that of dogs.
Fortunately, after each death in the dream, they would have no knowledge of what happened next in the storyline. Upon waking up, Freyr's first feeling was simply knowing that he had recently died in an explosion; it was still just another instance of self-destruction. Throughout these simulated trainings, he had repeatedly fulfilled his duty and detonated himself multiple times. After waking up, he awkwardly chuckled to himself, wondering how many more times he would have to carry out such a cursed order.
"You fools have failed again! It's simply disgraceful! If such turmoil truly arises in the entire biological realm, then Crimson Dragon Army's current dominance will be at stake."
A voice filled with grandiloquence emerged from the Virtual Screen mounted on the wall. It belonged to a sharp-eyed old man with slicked-back hair that shone brightly; though his sideburns were already gray, this Old Guy still exuded vigor as he occasionally clenched his fists and waved them at the air.
After scolding them, Old Guy's expression turned wooden as he sighed slightly. He was the leader of Crimson Dragon Army—aged yet still possessing remarkable strength and authority. Adorned with numerous honor medals, he was like a military soul within the entire army; no one dared to question his orders.
The Virtual Screen went dark. Colonel Cousins sat cross-legged on the ground wearing dark sunglasses and a cape draped over him. He likely didn't want others to see his reddened and swollen eyes. Regardless of his high status, greater responsibilities came with war; he hadn't rested in quite some time. Although physically fit, his energy had been continuously tested by Simulated War. Despite trying to mask his mental fatigue with a rough voice, enduring Simulated War seemed far more brutal than undergoing more rigorous physical training.
"It has been three consecutive failures; each of you has worked hard. Of course, being able to correct mistakes repeatedly and prevent things from deteriorating further is why I never expected Crimson Dragon Army to become this powerful. You are all excellent individuals but must continue striving."
"Correcting mistakes indicates that we still have some issues to address. These are problems we need to identify and resolve after the war ends. I believe we can go further together." Colonel Cousins nodded solemnly to his soldiers before injecting them with a dose of Cardiac Stimulant for effective reassurance before reopening the induction wave channel.
Suddenly—
His eyelids felt heavy again as that sense of weakness washed over him once more.
When they opened their eyes again, they were in the dark world of Outer Space, but they knew that this was just the beginning of the plot. Just like the plot of the game has a beginning, this dark and endless world is the old era and... RedemptionDay that connects the new era. Hundreds of years ago on Redemption Day, the global sky occupied a gap that seemed to have been opened by God. Scientists called these gaps wormholes. When the time stayed at seven o'clock, seven minutes and seven seconds in the early morning, the old era ended and the rule of the The Dark Age that has lasted for nearly a hundred years is coming. Freyr opened his eyes and got up from the ground. He clenched his fists and felt the changes in his body. He sneered and said: "Back again, normal body, again?!" A different plot , unable to predict the future trend, a large group of people around them sighed immediately. Looking up, it was quite a situation. Almost a thousand people got up from the ground. "Pick up the weapons on the ground, don't fall behind." The top Commander of each detachment shouted, the Platoon Leader gave orders to the captain, and the company commander transmitted the orders from the upper level to the three Platoon Leader. Based on this, Until the top Commander General Abelromio sat in direct command of the three Commanders. This time is different from last time, General personally joined Simulated War. It is also the strange old man who appears in Virtual Screen. He is wearing a plain white General military coat and is full of military medals. On his dry, white cheeks that lack elasticity, he gently reaches out and takes off a pair of black glasses. Next, at that moment, everyone felt that the idea of failure was stuffed into the back of their minds. "We will definitely win, attack with all our troops!" A scorching light flashed through the bottom of his red pupils, and Abbey General Romeo shouted calmly. The next moment, the entire Division was excited and provoked a violent cry. The two fortresses in front of the roaring BaseCamp descended. They rushed out of the gap created by BaseCamp and crashed into the two dark golden fortress spaceships ()
