"Third Elder" snorted angrily, "You speak so boldly; let’s get started then."
As he finished speaking, several dragon maidens emerged from the "Dragon Temple," carrying the "Glazed Plate" on their shoulders.
"Song Baliang" interjected, "Wait a moment. You claim that if we lose, we must give you the 'Supreme Dao Artifact,' but you haven't mentioned what we would receive if we win."
"Third Elder" scoffed, "You won't win!"
A similar disdain appeared on "Song Baliang's" face as he replied, "Even if you win, what does it matter? Your words are so ridiculous; it's truly annoying."
"Third Elder" retorted angrily, "You, monk, have been disrespectful time and again. Do you really think I wouldn't dare to teach you a lesson?"
"Song Baliang" huffed, "What’s the point of bullying the weak? Why not challenge my master instead? He has just entered the 'Tribulation Period.' If you think my master isn't formidable enough, go challenge the 'Buddha' or the 'Consort of Rain.'"
"You!" "Third Elder" was furious, his fingers trembling with rage.
At that moment, the Dragon King seated on the "Golden Seat" spoke up, "Alright, if you can defeat 'Xiao Wu,' I will allow all of you to enter my 'Dragon Domain Sacred Ground' to absorb the 'Heaven and Earth Dragon Vein' and achieve an 'Immortal Body.'"
Upon hearing this, everyone gasped. The dragon patterns coiling around the towering pillars opened their eyes one by one, writhing with excitement. The Grand Elder looked astonished as well, and so did "Zhao Yang." The "Dragon Domain Sacred Ground" was a place only accessible to past Dragon Kings; even someone as esteemed as the Grand Elder did not have that privilege. Thus, when everyone heard the Dragon King's words, they were inexplicably alarmed.
"The clan leader must reconsider!" an "Old Dragon" immediately voiced his opposition.
"Please think carefully, Your Highness the Dragon King!" another "Old Dragon" protested.
The Grand Elder appeared lost in thought, as if contemplating something. After a while, he interrupted the whispers among those in the "Dragon Temple," saying, "That matter has already occurred; the clan leader's decision must have its reasons!"
"That matter? Could it be that the Elder is referring to the prophecy from eight thousand years ago?" a white-haired, aged voice inquired hoarsely.
The Elder nodded. "Exactly, the prophecy of the Old Man of Heavenly Secrets."
The Dragon King on the Golden Seat spoke, "A great calamity for our dragon clan is approaching. I have recently sensed something ominous. The arrival of these young ones seems to be fate's design. If they can defeat Xiao Wu, they will have a connection with our dragon clan. Now, awaken all your descendants who are currently in seclusion. Three Queens, aside from the older generation from the Tribulation Period, all dragons who have transformed within a Century can enter the Dragon Domain Sacred Ground to absorb the Ancestral Land's Dragon Vein. How much they can absorb will depend on their own fortune!"
Upon hearing this, everyone finally understood the Dragon King's intention.
"However, if it is discovered that Xiao Wu deliberately holds back, all qualifications for entering the Dragon Domain Sacred Ground will be revoked!" The Dragon King's tone was resolute and left no room for argument.
"That's not fair!" protested a young dragon. "This Zhao Yang first consumed the Dragon's Saliva Fruit and then took the Overlord Pill. It's a miracle he’s still alive; how could he possibly compete with Brother Xiao Wu!"
"Don't speak nonsense! Xiao Wu is one of our dragon clan; how could he betray his own?" a middle-aged dragon scolded.
Long Xiao Wu's expression was also grim. His father's words meant he had to give it his all. If he won, Zhao Yang and his companions would be unable to enter the Dragon Domain Sacred Ground to absorb the power of the Dragon Vein. But if he deliberately held back, so many people watching would surely notice, and his actions would determine whether everyone in the dragon clan could enter the sacred ground. If he intentionally let Zhao Yang win, he would bear an eternal infamy and become a true disgrace to his clan!
Thinking of this, Long Xiao Wu no longer hesitated and looked at Zhao Yang seriously. "Zhao Yang, although we are brothers, this concerns a tremendous opportunity for everyone in our dragon clan. I will not let you win."
Zhao Yang replied, "That's great! I was afraid you would let me win on purpose, which would ruin my chance to enjoy this fully."
The Elder declared, "You may begin."
As the competition started, a Glazed Plate filled with Holy Fruit flew through the air before Zhao Yang and Long Xiao Wu. The Holy Fruit emitted an enticing aroma and overwhelming Spirit Energy that made everyone watching drool.
The Elder addressed the gathered Dragon Clan disciples, saying, "Do not be greedy for these Holy Fruits; just one is enough to burst the body of an ordinary Dao Fruit Stage human expert. If you don't believe me, look at that scholar." He pointed to the Scholar Xiu, who was sitting beside Nangong Wuxin. At that moment, Scholar Xiu's skin was cracked, blood and True Qi oozing out, his expression one of immense pain as he struggled to refine the Holy Fruit he had just consumed. He was not a genius; despite receiving the true teachings from Ruo Shui Laozu, his cultivation was simply too low. With only Divine Transformation Stage cultivation, how could he possibly withstand such a massive Spirit Energy impact on his own?
Nangong Wuxin was about to use his True Qi to help Scholar Xiu regulate his meridians, but Scholar Xiu stopped him, crying out in pain, "No need! This little difficulty won't defeat me."
After saying this, Scholar Xiu activated the Water God Technique, and streams of clear water appeared around him, repairing his injuries. A faint white light enveloped him, but even so, his skin continued to crack, blood soaking his body.
Yu Qingsnow conjured a snowflake in her hand and gently infused it into Scholar Xiu's body. Meanwhile, Liu Rou sent forth a long Willow Branch from her fingertips. The sharp bud on the Willow Branch pierced Scholar Xiu's arm, and immediately after, the rushing True Qi was transmitted through the branch. The cracked flesh on Scholar Xiu began to heal.
A fine sheen of sweat appeared on Scholar Xiu's face; it was evident that the recent pain had been nearly unbearable for him, leaving him almost exhausted.
The Elder continued, "Holy Fruits are extremely rare in the human realm. Although they are not scarce in our Dragon Domain, they are still precious. It would be best for you to deplete your True Qi within three days so you can enter the Dragon Domain and absorb the Dragon Vein. Otherwise, if your True Qi overflows by then, you will no longer be able to absorb it. However, I know some of you may be dissatisfied and wonder why an outsider can freely consume our Dragon Domain's Holy Fruits while you cannot. If anyone is unhappy about this, speak up now, and I will let them eat."
"I am not satisfied!" a Blue-Clad Youth said angrily.
"I am also not satisfied!" another Purple-Clad Youth echoed with discontent.
One by one, more youths expressed their dissatisfaction. The Elder noted this and pointed at the first speaker, the Blue-Clad Youth. "You were the first to voice your discontent. Given your cultivation level, you should be at Dao Fruit Stage. You may choose three Holy Fruits from this Glazed Plate in front of Zhao Yang and eat them here. If you can't finish them all, you are not allowed to leave!"
The Blue-Clad Youth appeared confident as he stepped forward and picked up three Holy Fruits from the Glazed Plate—one of which was their Dragon Domain's signature Holy Fruit, the Dragon's Saliva Fruit.
The youth's eyes were already filled with greed; Holy Medicine held significant value even within their Dragon Domain and was not something one could steal!
After consuming the Dragon's Saliva Fruit, radiant light enveloped him; his face flushed with color as vibrant hues began to burst forth from his mouth. The other youths looked on with eager eyes as more of them expressed a desire to eat Holy Fruits. The Second Elder gestured for them to remain silent as the Blue-Clad Youth prepared to eat his second Holy Fruit.
The second Holy Fruit was a sky-blue orb, roughly the size of a fist, radiating an exceptionally bright light. The Spirit Energy it emitted was overwhelming, striking the senses of everyone present. The young man swallowed the Holy Fruit in one bite, his expression one of ecstasy, as if he had just tasted the most delicious thing in the world.
"It’s the finest among Holy Fruits, taken from Mirage's Azure Crystal Fruit!" someone exclaimed, envy gleaming in their eyes.
However, almost immediately, the Blue-Clad Youth's expression froze, beads of sweat appearing on his forehead.
With a sudden cry, the Blue-Clad Youth collapsed to the ground in agony, his body convulsing uncontrollably as he curled up into a ball. Blood began to seep from his torn skin, pooling beneath him like a long snake.
“Father, save me!” the Blue-Clad Youth cried out.
A middle-aged man gasped and rushed forward to help, but Third Elder shouted angrily, “Nonsense! This is his own choice!”
Hearing Third Elder's reprimand, the middle-aged man halted. Third Elder glared fiercely and said, “This is only the second fruit! I’ve already stated that the Dragon Vein of the Three Queens is open to you. Yet you still greedily pursue more. The Holy Fruit is not something an ordinary person can consume! With your talent, eating one Holy Fruit means you will have no chance to absorb the Holy Land's Dragon Vein of the Three Queens. I truly overestimated you. You are hailed as a genius, yet you can't even withstand the second Holy Fruit? Why don’t you just finish off the remaining one?”
The Blue-Clad Youth struggled to lift his hand that still clutched the Holy Fruit but suddenly let out a loud scream and fainted, his life force beginning to dissipate.
Third Elder snorted and said, “You overestimate yourself.” He then turned to look at the timid middle-aged man and added, “Why don’t you carry your son away for treatment? This is truly embarrassing!”
