The gaze of the Sky Elder shifted slightly as he observed Zhao Yang's recent actions.
"Is it coincidence or insight? A mere Qi Refinement Stage cultivator cannot possibly grasp the essence," the old man gritted his teeth, a heavy killing intent flashing in his eyes as he stared at Zhao Yang.
The young man, having failed to land his strike, spread his fingers wide. A fierce wind howled around him, and an immense suction force tried to pull Zhao Yang closer, aiming to seize him by the neck and crush him. However, he failed again. Zhao Yang stood calmly in place, looking unconcerned as he addressed the young man, "Are you the Sect's personal fan? Blowing cold air on me in front of so many people in the middle of winter?"
The young man was furious; he had embarrassed himself in front of everyone once more. The others, seeing him humiliated, felt that Zhao Yang was somewhat uncanny and prepared to join forces to eliminate him.
Zhao Yang fixed his gaze on the young man and said, "As an Inner Courtyard Disciple, do you dare to compete with me, an Outer Court Disciple, in a life-and-death battle?"
The young man's expression darkened as he coldly replied, "Have you ever seen an ant trying to match strength with a dragon? Would the dragon even bother to respond? You are not worthy!"
"I only ask you this: do you dare or do you not dare?" Zhao Yang's eyes burned with intensity, his tone imposing. If those present were not one hundred percent certain he was merely a Qi Refinement Stage disciple, they might have been frightened into silence.
"Dare or not dare?" Zhao Yang raised his voice.
The young man felt a strange intimidation creeping into his heart; he didn't understand why he felt a twinge of fear. He was not a True Disciple but just an ordinary disciple under the old man's tutelage. Usually, he flattered and fawned over the elder, intending to teach a new disciple a lesson to impress him. He never expected to encounter such an embarrassing situation with this young man.
"If you're looking for someone, I'll help you find them!" the young man shouted angrily as he dove downwards. His fist glowed with Azure Light, a manifestation of True Qi that could shatter even the most resilient bronze cauldron with a single blow.
Zhao Yang showed no fear at all. He had easily killed Qin Lei, a late-stage Qi Refinement cultivator; this young man's cultivation was even weaker than Qin Lei's. At that moment, with the Enlightenment Realm descending upon him and the perceptive power granted by the Spirit Pearl, everything became clear before his eyes. He could catch any hint of flaw. With a single punch aimed five inches above the young man's chest, blood erupted from his mouth and nose as he was sent flying ten zhang away.
Everyone looked on in shock; a mere Qi Refinement Stage youth had defeated an Inner Courtyard Foundation Stage Disciple with one move!
The young man was terrified now, his eyes filled with horror as all traces of arrogance vanished from his expression.
Zhao Yang stepped forward again to strike. The young man instinctively clutched his chest where he had nearly been punched through and stumbled backward.
"Fight him; don't be afraid. It's just a momentary strength," came the voice of the elder from above.
"Master." The young man hesitated, glancing at the old man with fear, instinctively taking a few steps back.
"I told you not to be afraid. Do you want me to do it myself?" the old man snapped angrily.
Upon hearing this, the young man steeled himself, a fierce look flashing in his eyes. He channeled all his energy to its peak, leaping five inches off the ground and throwing a punch. At the same time, Zhao Yang secretly gathered Chaos True Qi at his fingertips, preparing to kill the young man. To him, the young man's speed was like that of an ant crawling.
However, in the next moment, Zhao Yang became furious as he felt an extremely cold aura enveloping him, slowing his movements drastically. He looked up to see the old man grinning wickedly and prepared to use Time Walk to pierce through the young man's head. But in an instant, he found himself unable to move at all.
"Another suppression of realms!" Zhao Yang gritted his teeth in frustration, cold sweat pouring down his body. As he saw the young man's fist coming toward him, he struggled to raise his right hand to block the vital strike but was sent flying seven or eight yards away upon impact.
"With such a high realm, you must be an elder of the Inner Sect. I truly underestimated your shamelessness!" Zhao Yang ground his teeth as he lay on the ground.
The old man laughed heartily. "Just a small fry from the Outer Sect. I've killed at least eighty of your kind; a talent that cannot grow is nothing!"
"Prepare to die!" The young man realized that the old man was aiding him and shouted again as he leaped forward, revealing his magical artifact, the Heart-Piercing Arrow. He shot it downwards, but Zhao Yang's body shattered, and the Heart-Piercing Arrow missed its target again, embedding itself in the ground. The young man's face was filled with confusion. Those watching from above clearly saw that at the moment the Heart-Piercing Arrow made contact with the boy's chest, he vanished. However, he did not disappear far; instead, he reappeared thirty yards away beneath the Azure Stone Tablet path.
Receiving this hint, the Heart-Piercing Arrow shot out again towards Zhao Yang.
Zhao Yang flashed away once more and appeared on a nearby stone pillar.
"This won't do; True Qi consumption is too great, and I can only use Seventy-Third Transformation once in a short time. I don't know how much my cultivation differs from that shameless elder's. Absolute Sheep Transformation takes at least three seconds; that's enough time for me to hide a mile away and then figure out how to escape Myriad Spirit Sect. Who knows if Myriad Spirit Sect is full of snakes and rats? If I kill this young man in front of me, I might not be able to escape."
As he watched the Heart-Piercing Arrow come at him again, Zhao Yang fixed his gaze on the old man in mid-air and began to speak: "I will turn you into..."
"Stop!"
Bang! The Heart-Piercing Arrow was struck down by a suddenly appearing Floating Dust, crashing to the ground and shattering into pieces. The young man's magical artifact was destroyed; he suffered mental backlash and spat out a mouthful of blood as he collapsed onto the ground.
Before Zhao Yang could finish saying "Transform into Sheep Technique," the old man's expression changed dramatically as he felt his cultivation rapidly draining away, as if his body were about to disintegrate. That shout had saved him instead.
"Second Elder, as one of the higher-ups of Myriad Spirit Sect, it's not a glorious thing to incite disciples to kill each other, especially when he is just a kid at Qi Refinement Stage. If this reaches the Sect Master’s ears, he will surely be furious."
An old man holding Floating Dust appeared, a faint white light trailing behind him. He addressed the elder who wanted to kill Zhao Yang as Second Elder, seemingly reminding him of his status. The old man was Hong Wushou, one of the Outer Court Third Elders. He stood in front of Zhao Yang, quietly channeling a wave of harmonious True Qi into Zhao Yang's body to help him recover from his injuries.
"Hmph, you have no right to meddle in my affairs!" the Inner Courtyard Second Elder scoffed.
"I don't know whether I have the right or not." Another cold snort echoed as Fire Wuyan, clad in fiery robes, appeared like a blazing sun, illuminating the surroundings. Fire Wuyan glared at the Inner Courtyard Second Elder and said, "Duan Wude, your reckless killing of fellow disciples over the years has long displeased the Sect Master. This kid is my disciple; how dare you lay a hand on him!"
Second Elder Duan Wude laughed heartily. "Just a waste with a Mixed Spiritual Root. You are only fit to take such a disciple. How many years has it been? Still stuck in Outer Sect."
"You old bastard, how dare you speak to my brother like that!" Yellow Wind roared as Ji Wuyou, dressed in a Bagua Robe, strode forward. "My brother became an Outer Sect Elder willingly; at least he didn’t rely on selling pills and connections like some people's brothers to become an Inner Court Elder. And before he could even stabilize his position as an Inner Court Elder, he was poisoned by his own disciple. It’s nothing but a joke for the Sect—a disgrace!"
"You’re asking for death!" Duan Wude seemed to be hit where it hurt; his eyes widened with rage as he raised his hand to unleash an overwhelming wave of freezing cold air.
Fire Wuyan glared fiercely, spewing forth blazing flames that instantly erupted into towering infernos, colliding with the icy cold air. The other disciples hurriedly retreated, fearing they would be caught in the crossfire. The surrounding environment subtly shifted under the impact of ice and fire.
"Hah, Core Formation Seventh Layer! It seems you've made quite some progress over the years; no wonder you dare to act so arrogantly. Although we are both at the late stage of Core Formation, you must understand that even a single layer difference after Core Formation creates an insurmountable chasm!" Second Elder Duan Wude declared.
