Zhao Yang couldn't believe what he was seeing, but he was still inside the Spirit Testing Gate, and the glowing crystal embedded in the door had indeed not lit up. 0

Zhao Yang never imagined such a situation would happen to him. If this were true, did it mean he was a failure? After all, he was the disciple of the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, Sun Wukong. If he truly was a failure, then wasn't his master deceiving him? As he hesitated about what to do next, the weak youth, Song Qianqiu, who had been standing behind the Spirit Testing Officer, whispered something to the indifferent judge. 0

The cold-faced Spirit Testing Officer glanced at Zhao Yang in surprise before returning to his usual demeanor and said to Zhao Yang, "Walk through again and see." 0

Zhao Yang was taken aback and pointed at himself as he asked the Spirit Testing Officer, "Me?" 0

"Who else would it be?" 0

Zhao Yang fell silent and walked through the Spirit Testing Gate once more. This time, the Spirit Testing Officers, along with Song Qianqiu and Zhao Yang himself, carefully watched the glowing crystal embedded in the recess of the door. They all clearly saw a fleeting glimmer of light within the crystal. 0

"Did you see that? The filament just lit up for a moment," Zhao Yang exclaimed with excitement over his discovery. 0

"Yes, I saw it. It's the worst kind of Spiritual Root, close to a pseudo-Spiritual Root. This is the first time I've seen it in all my years," the Spirit Testing Officer nodded in affirmation. 0

"I also saw just a flicker of light; it's my first time witnessing this," Song Qianqiu added with a nod. 0

"Are you sure that person intends to directly accept this newcomer with a failed Spiritual Root?" 0

Song Qianqiu nodded again. 0

"Sigh," the Spirit Testing Officer lamented deeply. "What kind of grudge does this child have against their ancestor? It's like walking in just to become cannon fodder." 0

"Zhao Yang, you are the two thousand nine hundred eighty-third qualified candidate through the Spirit Testing Gate. Here is your identity badge. Please queue on the left and wait. Once we finish testing your Spiritual Root, we will head to Yuwang City’s Teleportation Array together to return to Myriad Spirit Sect and prepare for tomorrow's Attribute Test!" 0

Zhao Yang felt puzzled as he accepted the identity badge; something about today felt off. 0

As Zhao Yang passed by Song Qianqiu, he quietly asked, "May I ask what my friend's name is?" 0

"You don't know him? So you must have entered the Sect through the back door?" Song Qianqiu raised an eyebrow and smirked. "I'm afraid you'll never be able to be friends with him in this lifetime, so it's better if you don't know!" 0

Although Song Qianqiu had benefited because of Zhao Yang, he believed he was in control of his own fate. 0

Zhao Yang frowned, surprised by Song Qianqiu's snobbery. Under the current circumstances, he had no choice but to swallow his anger and endure. Besides, Song Qianqiu hadn't done anything too outrageous to him, so he didn't take it to heart. When he saw Li Yunshan waving at him from a distance, Zhao Yang pushed aside his thoughts and happily approached, since he had already joined the Sect. 0

"Brother Zhao, thank you for your help! If there's anything I can do for you in the future within the Sect, I, Li Yunshan, will go through fire and water without hesitation!" Li Yunshan's address for Zhao Yang had become increasingly intimate, evolving from "Zhao Yang" to "Brother Zhao," and now to "Brother Zhao." 0

Zhao Yang sighed inwardly. In his past life, he had been betrayed by his own brother because he had fallen into despair, sometimes even reluctant to spend on a bowl of fried rice. Now, Li Yunshan reminded him of a warm-hearted and honest brother from his previous life. He understood that any friendship was built on a certain social foundation and financial stability; thus, he still couldn't fully trust anyone. 0

Though he didn't yet know the name or identity of that peculiar young man, he would find out once he reached Myriad Spirit Sect. 0

That evening, after all the applicants had completed their tests, the Spirit Testing Officers' palms shimmered with light. The three massive Spirit Testing Gates instantly transformed into tiny doors the size of fingernails and flew into their hands. The crowd watching gasped in astonishment. 0

The Spirit Testing Officers stood before the new disciples. One of them coldly announced in a loud voice, "You are the last batch of disciples admitted into Myriad Spirit Sect. You have half an hour to prepare your belongings. After half an hour, follow me into the Teleportation Array to Myriad Spirit Sect!" 0

Zhao Yang and Li Yunshan had no luggage to prepare, so they stood still for a while. Out of the corner of his eye, Zhao Yang kept an eye on the surrounding crowd, especially that peculiar young man from Myriad Spirit Sect's back row and the elderly Daoist Immortal with white hair and youthful features whom he had seen in the morning. However, it was clear they were no longer present. 0

Half an hour later, Zhao Yang and Li Yunshan followed the Spirit Testing Officers into the Teleportation Array in the city. 0

The Teleportation Array before them was an octagonal formation pulsating with radiant light. Waves of distorted space rippled outward from the array. At each corner of the octagon lay a shattered red stone. Zhao Yang instinctively touched the item in his pocket; if he guessed correctly, those shattered red stones were likely the coveted Red Essence Stones that cultivators went mad for. He hadn't expected that a few broken Red Essence Stones could withstand so many people teleporting together over such a distance; if the Red Essence Stone in his possession leaked out, the consequences would be unimaginable. 0

A wave of dizziness made him feel nauseous; his cheeks stung as if scraped. Suddenly, breathing became incredibly smooth. Zhao Yang realized he had arrived at Myriad Spirit Sect. Without the protective runes of the Teleportation Array itself, ordinary people attempting to travel through void space would be torn apart! 0

Upon arriving at the Myriad Spirit Sect, the new disciples were not greeted by towering palaces or the misty mountain pavilions they had imagined. Instead, they found themselves in a clean and tidy Courtyard. The walls of the courtyard were old but well-maintained, as if they had been frequently wiped down. Surrounding the Courtyard were numerous small houses closely packed together, numbering in the thousands. 0

Not far behind them stood a towering gate made of marble, with three large characters inscribed on it: Myriad Spirit Sect. 0

The Spirit Testing Officer led the New Disciples into the Courtyard, where a large group of disciples, aged between ten and twenty, were already present. They stared at the newcomers with sly smiles on their faces. 0

"It seems this year's intake of new disciples is not just Three Thousand People," Zhao Yang thought to himself. 0

"Everyone quiet down. Today, we have a total of six hundred twenty-three new disciples. Each of you has a number on your waist token; that is your accommodation number. When we disperse later, find your room according to the number on your token. We will gather here tomorrow morning at dawn for the Spiritual Root Attribute Test!" 0

After the crowd dispersed, Zhao Yang and Li Yunshan found their assigned houses. Since their numbers were consecutive, their rooms were adjacent to each other. 0

Li Yunshan bid Zhao Yang farewell and entered his own room. Zhao Yang glanced at the setting sun before lowering his head and stepping into his own room. It was small, with a bed occupying most of the space. He placed his bag at the head of the bed and considered going out to explore. However, it was getting late, and after a long day, he felt somewhat fatigued. Lying on the bed, he reflected on the events of the day and soon fell into a deep sleep. 0

In his dreams, Zhao Yang relived various experiences from his past life—countless exams, endless ridicule from others, and struggles against fate flashed through his mind. 0

Suddenly, a commotion broke through his dreams. Zhao Yang opened his eyes to find himself still in this strange world and breathed a sigh of relief. He got up and opened his door to see several young men blocking Li Yunshan's door under the moonlight. 0

"Brothers, I really have no money, let alone any Cultivation treasures. Please let me go." 0

A sharp slap echoed as it struck Li Yunshan's face. 0

A robust young man stood in front of Li Yunshan, speaking arrogantly: "No money? How did you get into the Sect then? We're all new disciples here; you'd better hand over your treasures before I get angry. Otherwise, don't blame me for being rude." 0

"I... I really don't have..." 0

As soon as Li Yunshan's words fell, the Robust Young Man raised his hand again. With a loud slap, a scream echoed, but it was not Li Yunshan's; it was the Robust Young Man who cried out. 0

Zhao Yang stood in front of Li Yunshan, a flicker of anger flashing in his eyes. He recalled the scenes from his past life when he was bullied by delinquents and classmates. At that time, he had vowed to take revenge one day and often wondered why no one protected him. Now, seeing his friend being bullied, he found himself in a different world, possessing extraordinary skills. There was no reason for him to hold back. 0

The young men accompanying the Robust Young Man saw him knocked to the ground and immediately rushed at Zhao Yang without hesitation. Zhao Yang did not dodge; with a series of sharp slaps, he sent them sprawling. He could tell that these individuals were at most at the third level of Qi Refinement Stage. Although he was also at the third level, his physical strength had reached an astonishing level, and if he unleashed his True Qi, their heads would likely explode instantly. 0

"You’re asking for death!" the Robust Young Man roared, pointing at Zhao Yang. 0

Zhao Yang snorted and exerted force with his legs, jumping in front of the Robust Young Man. With a crunch, he stomped down on the young man's jaw, shattering it with ruthless decisiveness. 0

"I have never liked it when others shout at me. Although I am still unfamiliar with the rules of Myriad Spirit Sect, I believe that survival of the fittest applies everywhere. You just arrived at the sect and already want to form cliques to bully others; you are either scum or worthless. Consider this a small lesson for today. Now, disappear from my sight immediately." 0

Though Zhao Yang appeared calm on the surface, his words struck the Robust Young Man like thunder, dark and terrifying as if they came from a demon in hell. This person was ruthless and definitely not someone he could provoke. 0

Zhao Yang's waist token number was 2983, and he was assigned to a dormitory at the very back where few people usually came by. Thus, there were not many witnesses to this scene. 0

The Robust Young Man was indeed unfortunate; he and his companions were mountain bandits by origin, accustomed to a life of robbery since childhood. After discovering their Spiritual Roots, they remembered what their mentor had said about cultivation requiring vast amounts of money to buy Spiritual Pills. They decided to rob a few newcomers during this period. Fearing tough opponents, they randomly selected targets from the last row of dormitories but did not expect to encounter someone who would stand up against them after only robbing two. 0

"Are you alright, Yunshan?" Zhao Yang asked with concern. 0

Li Yunshan glanced at Zhao Yang and replied tremulously, "I'm fine, thank you, Brother Zhao. I’ll go rest in my room." A hint of desolation flashed in his eyes before he lowered his head and entered his room. 0

Zhao Yang sighed softly, unsure whether helping Li Yunshan enter the cultivation world was a good or bad thing. 0
