Twice I had seen another version of myself from a different timeline come to warn us that everyone in the future had vanished.
This time, it was through Douding that I received the message, urging me to leave this place quickly.
"Although the future can be changed, it's still better to be cautious. We should leave here; it's likely no longer safe," I said.
"But everyone hasn't returned yet," Zhou Manman replied.
After thinking for a moment, I wrote three characters on the wall: Niujia Village.
"Niujia Village is near Qingliang Mountain. If Wuruo sees this, he will know where we are. The warning from the future must be to help us avoid risks. If Old Scholar or Song Qianqiu want to deal with me, they will naturally retreat upon realizing their efforts were in vain," I explained.
Zhou Manman nodded and went inside to pack her belongings, preparing to leave with me.
"Sister Yu is still outside and hasn't come back. I'll go find her," Douding said as he placed the fish he had caught into the water tank in the courtyard and ran out.
We waited at the gate for a while, but when Douding didn't return, Zhou Manman said, "She should be just outside the city at the Pond. It's only a couple of miles away; she should have been back by now. I'll go see what's going on."
I nodded and replied, "Then hurry there and back."
Zhou Manman agreed and flew towards the outskirts of the city on her lotus feet. After a long time, she returned with Douding, who looked dejected. "I searched for a long time but didn't find Sister Yu. She was there when I was catching fish earlier."
"Never mind. Senior Sister Yu is skilled in swordsmanship; if she wants to leave, no one can stop her. Let's get out of here," I said.
Zhou Manman nodded while Douding pouted, "Fine then. Sister Yunxi and Brother Five went to deal with the Yin Soldiers and Corpse Demon; I wonder how they're doing now."
After we left Jiangnan Courtyard, we headed towards Qingliang Mountain. That night, under the bright starlight, Jiangnan Courtyard fell silent.
Not far away on the mountaintop, Song Qianqiu fanned himself with a folding fan while standing beside the Ghost King wielding a red Great Halberd. Behind them were the White-Robed Old Scholar with a broken arm, Miao Guanyin, Meng Xuanjian, Miao Shengnan, Sky Master, and two Holy Monks. Following them was a group of black-robed Miaojiang Grand Shamans.
The Ghost King reported, "Master, we have located Yang Hao and his companions right here. Since the Taishan Battle, Zhou Guanyin and Yang Hao have not left this place."
Song Qianqiu nodded and said, "Well done. This time I will concentrate all my forces; as long as we eliminate Yang Hao, no one will escape from the Great Wilderness Scripture. Although he is mortally wounded by Daoist arts and is bound to die, I still can't rest easy. During this time of training with the Sun Refining Cauldron, I've been restless. Until Yang Hao is dealt with, I won't give up. How are things on your end?"
The Ghost King replied, "All Yin Soldiers under Qilian Mountain have been mobilized. They are beginning to attack some border cities in Central Plains. The initial battles have been victorious; although the military has advanced weapons, we've already taken several cities as instructed by you. However, that Daoist Arts practitioner called Taihe Zhenren has great power against Yin Soldiers. Without our presence, it could be detrimental to our army!"
"Taihe Zhenren is from Wudang Mountain, practicing the Ancient Profound Skill of Righteousness Song, which has a great restraining power against Yin Soldier Corpse Ghosts. If we encounter him, we should first avoid his sharpness. Once Yang Hao is dealt with, I will take care of Taihe."
"Understood, Master," the Ghost King replied respectfully.
Song Qianqiu stood with his hands clasped behind his back and flew towards Jiangnan Courtyard. Upon entering the courtyard, he frowned and said, "Why is there no one here? There isn't even a trace of a living person!"
The Ghost King rushed inside and found it empty, breaking into a cold sweat. "Bai Shihou was here earlier, and Zhou Guanyin was also in the courtyard. It seems she was seriously injured while trying to save Yang Haoyuan. I feared she might not be my match, so I refrained from acting. I don't know why she has vanished now."
Song Qianqiu snorted. "Yang Hao is gravely injured and in a weakened state. His body is nearly immune to Holy Medicine; he cannot recover so quickly. Bai Shihou was here before but is now missing at night. Could it be that you were discovered?"
"Impossible! My power exceeds that of Zhou Guanyin," the Ghost King insisted.
"Is there anyone else besides these two?" Song Qianqiu asked.
"There’s also Rain Master Luo and that brat named Douding. I intentionally avoided Rain Master Luo to observe the situation in the courtyard," the Ghost King replied.
"This Douding is also unusual; he has awakened the Zen Bodhisattva within him, allowing him to see many things that are normally invisible. He might have noticed you," Song Qianqiu remarked.
"It is my failure!" the Ghost King said, feeling ashamed.
"Someone is coming," Song Qianqiu said as he looked into the distance, where they hid on the rooftop of the courtyard.
Under the glow of the Bright Moon, Rain Master Luo approached from afar, dressed in black. She held a silvery stone in her hand, which faintly emitted Spirit Energy. Under the moonlight, it appeared translucent, clearly hiding something extraordinary within.
Rain Master Luo's face lit up with joy as she reached the entrance and smiled. Ever since Douding brought her to Jiangnan Courtyard, she had been serious and rarely communicated with others. If anyone saw her expression now, they would surely be astonished.
The reason Rain Master Luo was so happy was that while watching Douding catch fish by the pond, she discovered an underground river within the fish pond. Observing its course from a distance, she found the source of the Yin River within a Silver Mine.
Within this mine lay an underground river that subtly radiated Spirit Energy; it was clearly a Mountain Spirit's domain.
Rain Master Luo recalled how Song Qianqiu had previously told her how to seek out Mountain Spirits. The vast land of China often concealed Mountain Spirits formed over millions of years within its mountains and rivers. The concentration of Spirit Energy varied among these Mountain Spirits; consuming them could lead to longevity and vitality or rejuvenate one's spirit and body.
Previously, while seeking enlightenment on Zhongnan Mountain, Rain Master Luo had discovered several hidden locations of Mountain Spirits—either too deep to reach or lacking sufficient Spirit Energy due to impoverished surrounding soil.
The silver mine she had just discovered not only had its Mountain Spirit buried shallowly but also possessed an exceptionally rich concentration of Spirit Energy. From a certain perspective, consuming this Mountain Spirit could activate hidden potentials in the human body and promote cellular vitality, aiding in healing and renewal.
As Rain Master Luo entered the courtyard and noticed it was dark without any lights, she paused for a moment, sensing something was amiss.
Rain Master Luo looked up at the ceiling and asked, "Who is still not coming out?"
"Ah, Senior Sister Yu, you truly are the first extraordinary woman. Even the hidden lairs of two Supreme beings can be detected by you," Song Qianqiu said casually while fanning himself.
By now, Huzi and Douding had already informed Rain Master Luo about Song Qianqiu's recent actions. Rain Master Luo snorted and said, "What have you done to Zhou Guanyin and Yang Hao?"
Song Qianqiu replied, "Senior Sister Yu is indeed a person of deep feelings and loyalty. Even when you are in danger, you still care about your lover. From the look of joy on your face just now, you must have found some fine Mountain Spirit to prepare for Yang Hao to consume, right?"
"Where are they?" Rain Master Luo asked with a harsh tone.
Song Qianqiu smiled slightly and said, "It's fine to tell you because they weren't captured by me; they left on their own. They had already departed before I arrived—three of them, but they didn't take you along."
Although Rain Master Luo knew that Song Qianqiu was doing this on purpose, she still felt a bit hurt. Song Qianqiu continued, "Think about it, Senior Sister Yu. With so many experts from the Mahayana Realm all going to deal with the Yin Soldiers, they only left behind a weak child and a woman who continuously supplied Yang Hao with Renewal of Withered Trees. Why didn't they take you along? Is it because you're too terrifying for them to invite, or is it that you simply don't belong to their group?"
"What do you mean?" Rain Master Luo asked.
"My meaning is simple," Song Qianqiu said. "Someone as outstanding as Senior Sister Yu stands out wherever she goes. You’ve seen it; I, Song Qianqiu, have never provoked these people. Yet they have repeatedly tried to kill me, claiming it's for justice while I am supposedly endangering the common people. Zhang Xing killed half the citizens of Jiangnan City with his Seven Star Sword Technique; Yang Sanqian slaughtered eight thousand innocent Daoist Disciples in one go; Yang Hao killed tens of thousands of Disciples of the Serpent Cult at Emei Mountain using the Way of Power. Their killings are justice while mine is harming the common people? Look at those I've killed—either Supreme beings or leaders of major sects—who among them doesn’t have hundreds of lives on their hands? In the end, it’s just a matter of differing stances! They started wanting to kill me from Azure Cloud Mountain simply because I sought the Martial Dao Classic. Why can Yang Hao obtain it while I cannot? Now that I have acquired the Demon King's Scripture and the Great Wilderness Scripture, they fear me and claim I want to destroy humanity. Of course, I can't let them have an easy excuse; if I don't take action, they'll think I'm afraid. Senior Sister Yu, you should think carefully about your One Sword Technique that slays gods and demons. Back then, Old Sword Saint Miao Zhong instilled fear in everyone; no one dared to stand on equal footing with him. You are the same—a stern woman who possesses the One Sword Technique; everyone fears you. You and they are simply not on the same level."
