In the land of the Qilian Mountain and the Underworld, the Yin Soldier Army crossed the Yin River, advancing towards the Yang Realm.
At the junction between the Underworld and the Yang Realm, Wu Zheng and Yang Xuanzong were locked in fierce battle. The May Day sword pierced through Yang Xuanzong's neck, yet Wu Zheng seemed to pass right through Yang Xuanzong's figure. Yang Xuanzong's power was far superior to Wu Zheng's; it appeared he was deliberately testing Wu Zheng's cultivation method.
The Yang Family was skilled in Void Technique, a cultivation method learned from ancient texts by the Yang Family Ancestor and passed down through generations. This Daoist art, capable of transforming one's body from solid to ethereal in an instant, was unheard of in modern times.
Wu Zheng was taken aback as he saw Yang Xuanzong approaching and began to retreat.
Yang Xuanzong said, "Old man, I’ll say it again. Hand over the Linglong Tower, and I might spare your life!"
The battle between Wu Zheng and Yang Xuanzong quickly attracted a large number of Yin Soldiers. As they gathered, Wu Zheng formed seals with his hands, summoning a massive Yin-Yang Sword above Yang Xuanzong's head. The sword slashed down, causing the ground to tremble and dust to rise, sending a wave of Yin Soldiers flying.
The Yin-Yang Sword had a tremendous restraining power over the Yin Soldier Corpse Ghosts. The air crackled with its violent energy, forcing the Yin Soldiers to retreat. Meanwhile, Yang Xuanzong emerged from the dust cloud and watched as Wu Zheng fled through the Underworld Entrance. With a snort, he stepped onto the heads of the Yin Soldier Army and pursued him.
At the Underworld Entrance, surrounded by towering mountains that formed a deep valley, Yang Xuanzong had just stepped out when he heard the roars of Yin Soldiers. Countless Yin Soldiers were sent flying back. A beam of light enveloped him, suppressing the void and refining the souls of the dead.
Yang Xuanzong frowned as he saw a towering golden pagoda pressing down on the Underworld Entrance, enveloping him within its confines.
The Linglong Pagoda suppressed the void and refined demons. Realizing he had fallen into a trap, Yang Xuanzong quickly retreated. However, behind him stood a gate marked by a Yin-Yang Diagram—a barrier set up by Wu Zheng as he escaped from the Underworld Entrance.
As Yang Xuanzong felt the refining power of the Linglong Pagoda burning against him, smoke began to rise from his body. He punched at the Yin-Yang barrier, causing it to shake and crack. Yet he could no longer endure the burning sensation; he immediately transformed reality into illusion.
"Old fool," Wu Zheng scoffed. "I don’t want to waste time with you today; I’ll let you go this time. But if you dare to plot against me again, I’ll skin you alive!"
The Linglong Pagoda shrank back into Wu Zheng's hand as he glided away towards a distant mountain peak. The area was swarming with emerging Yin Soldiers. Not understanding Void Technique himself, Wu Zheng was fortunate that none of these Yin Soldiers were commanded to attack him; otherwise, once entangled by them, escape would have been impossible.
At the Underworld Entrance, Yang Xuanzong's figure shot out, solidifying from ethereal form. He landed atop a mountain peak and looked down at the approaching swarm of Yin Soldiers. With a cold snort, he tore through space and vanished from sight.
At this moment, west of Spirit Mist Mountain, in Peach Blossom Stream, although the outside was frozen and cold, the stream was warm as spring, especially within the peach blossom grove.
Not far from the grove stood a clean thatched cottage, surrounded by various blooming flowers. In the center of the peach blossom grove was the Ice and Fire Spirit Spring, where Yunxi had been soaking for seven nights, day and night steaming, healing her injuries.
I heard some noise coming from the cottage. Just then, I saw Yunxi gracefully walking towards me, her demeanor elegant. She looked at me with a shy smile. I took her hand and said, "Finally, everything is fine. It seems this Ice and Fire Spirit Spring is indeed extraordinary; not only does it keep this place in perpetual spring, but it also heals injuries. Eastern Senior truly found a treasure."
Yunxi asked, "Where are they?"
I replied, "They just heard some noise outside and went to check. Let's go take a look too."
Yunxi nodded, and together we leaped to the mountain peak. Sword Elder was standing there, gazing towards a distant village. In the village, Dongfang Yuqing was rampaging through the area, slicing the invading Yin Soldiers in half. Some villagers had already turned into Corpse Demons, yet these Yin Soldiers seemed endless.
Dongfang Yuqing retreated with his sword drawn and flew over to us.
"Yunxi, you're awake," Dongfang Yuqing greeted her.
"I just woke up. Thanks to Senior's Ice and Fire Spirit Spring, my injuries have healed so quickly," Yunxi replied.
Sword Elder sighed and said, "The Yin Soldier Army has advanced from all directions towards the Central Plains. The ground is littered with corpses along their path. If we don't stop them, the entire region will be destroyed."
"The Yin Soldiers follow orders from Ghost Seal and the Ghost King, while the Demon King's Scripture is what turns the people into corpses. Song Qianqiu can't possibly be everywhere; why are there so many ordinary people turning into Corpse Demons?" I asked.
Dongfang Yuqing responded, "I find it strange too. Those killed by Yin Soldiers do not become Corpse Demons. If Song Qianqiu isn't here, these people shouldn't be turning into Corpse Demons. Could there be another reason?"
"What is the combat strength of these Yin Soldiers?" I inquired.
Dongfang Yuqing replied, "The defense of these Yin Soldiers is comparable to that of Divine Transformation Realm experts. While they can be slain with a single strike, if thousands charge at once, even those in Mahayana Realm would struggle to withstand them; a direct confrontation would only lead to exhaustion and death."
I looked at Sword Elder and asked, "I wonder if you have any good methods?"
Sword Elder shook his head and said, "Aside from finding Song Qianqiu, Old Man has no good methods. But if what you say is true, he possesses the Time Forbidden Technique. Just this alone makes him invincible. Moreover, he has attained your Perfect Golden Core. Once he steps into the Supreme Realm, no one will be able to stop him."
I replied, "When we left Jiangnan Maple Valley, we all agreed on our investigation directions. Everyone must have returned by now. Old Guo has the Divination Technique; perhaps he can find out Song Qianqiu's whereabouts."
Dongfang Yuqing said, "Then I'll go back with you. Grandpa, you should come with us too. Now only Old Scholar and you are Supreme."
Sword Elder hesitated for a moment and said, "Alright, I will activate the Peach Blossom Stream's barrier and go with you."
Sword Elder flew towards Peach Blossom Stream. After a while, mist rose around Peach Blossom Stream, and the scene changed. Sword Elder flew down from the mountain, and the four of us slaughtered all the Yin Soldiers in the distance before heading towards Central Plains Jiangnan.
Thousands of miles away, in the misty Mangshan, Iron Bull sat cross-legged above the Cold Pool, surrounded by radiant light that matched the brilliance of the rising Great Sun.
Taihe Zhenren sensed a strange aura and pushed open the wooden door to look around. When he reached the edge of the cliff and saw Iron Bull sitting calmly on the water's surface, he was shocked beyond measure.
The surface of the pool was calm, and Righteous Qi surged from Iron Bull like the morning sun. Taihe Zhenren had been diligently teaching Iron Bull these past few days, imparting to him the Righteous Qi Formula. He never expected that in just a few days, Iron Bull would have already mastered it to perfection.
No one knew that Iron Bull had practiced Mangshan Sect's Chemical Martial Arts for many years, leading to a blockage in his brain's nerves that could not be removed. This was the limitation of Chemical Martial Arts; historically, Mangshan Sect had achieved nothing among Daoist Sects because Chemical Martial Arts could absorb others' attacks and convert injuries into stored power. This method was extremely dangerous; if one was careless and sustained severe injuries, death would follow. Additionally, Chemical Martial Arts could lead to brain tumors that affected intelligence. Over time, the leaders of Mangshan Sect had short lifespans and dared not continue their practice midway.
Before his master passed away, he predicted that Iron Bull would encounter a noble person after leaving the mountain who would recognize him as their master, changing Iron Bull's life forever.
At seventeen years old, Iron Bull had already entered the Divine Transformation Realm. While this was not remarkable within the entire Daoist Sect, in Mangshan it was unprecedented since its founding. However, due to his rapid cultivation, the tumor in his brain grew larger. Without Holy Medicine and Divine Healer treatment, he would undoubtedly die within ten years.
Now that Yang Hao had removed the tumor from Iron Bull's brain, it was akin to opening a door for him. After several periods of deep sleep and awakening, his cultivation speed became astonishingly fast; even Taihe Zhenren's Righteous Qi took him only a short time to master completely.
"Iron Bull, we should set off," Taihe Zhenren called out.
Iron Bull opened his eyes. Rising from the surface of the water, his massive frame stirred only a ripple beneath him. With a sudden leap, the water trembled as Iron Bull landed beside Taihe Zhenren.
"Master, Iron Bull pays his respects!" Iron Bull exclaimed, bowing deeply, his forehead thudding against the ground.
Taihe Zhenren quickly helped Iron Bull to his feet, laughing heartily. "You've spent your life practicing only Chemical Martial Arts, a method that straddles the line between martial and mystical. Because of this, your Dao Qi is pure, allowing you to learn other techniques at an astonishing speed. We shall leave the mountains now and work together; first, we will deal with that scoundrel Song Qianqiu."
Days later, countless Yin Soldier Armies gathered in the mountains near the Central Plains. The common folk were filled with dread; such a commotion could not go unnoticed.
I, Yunxi, Dongfang Yuqing, and Sword Elder arrived at Jiangnan Maple Valley, where Huzi and Douding greeted us. Huzi said, "Where have you all been? It's been ages without a word!"
I replied, "We were seeking skilled fighters to assist us. Song Qianqiu is planning to attack the common people. If the Yin Soldiers launch an assault, the consequences would be dire."
Douding burst into tears, throwing himself into Yunxi's embrace and clinging to her waist. "Sister Yunxi, I thought I would never see you again."
Yunxi felt awkward as Huzi tugged at Douding's ear. "Do you know what it means for men and women to keep their distance? You shouldn't be so familiar with your brother's wife."
Douding cried out in pain. I turned to Huzi and asked, "What about the others?"
Huzi replied, "So far, besides me and Douding, only Guo Huaiyi has returned—and he's badly injured."
"Guo Huaiyi is hurt?" I was surprised; Guo Huaiyi was nearly invulnerable and could absorb others' vitality to replenish himself. Though not as physically strong as I was, he had one of the best recovery abilities among us.
I pushed open the door to our dwelling and saw Guo Huaiyi lying on the bed, his face pale. Huzi said, "Douding and I don't know anything about healing. Old Guo brought him back in a hurry and then rushed out again."
I placed my fingers on Guo Huaiyi's pulse and channeled my Dao Qi into him. I sensed a chaotic energy rampaging through his body, wreaking havoc on his Meridians. Guo Huaiyi practiced Ghost Gate Secret Technique and Blood Sacrifice Technique; his bones and Acupoints were different from ordinary people’s. At that moment, it felt as if something akin to insects was infesting his Acupoints and marrow.
Moving my hand to his head, I discovered something similar to an insect within his brain. Yunxi asked, "What’s going on?"
I said, "If I guess correctly, it should be a case of being cursed. However, a hundred years ago during the Dark Turmoil Period, Miaojiang was already destroyed, and all those who practiced the art of curses were executed. Aside from the Old Scholar, there is probably no one in this world who studies such things anymore. Are Old Guo and his son really seeking revenge on the Old Scholar at this critical moment?"
I performed the Renewal of Withered Trees technique, and vibrant Dao Qi penetrated Guo Huaiyi's brain. Countless blood veins appeared on Guo Huaiyi's surface; he clenched his fists, his expression a mix of pain and ferocity.
"Guo Huaiyi, I am Yang Hao," I said softly.
Guo Huaiyi relaxed his fists and stopped defending himself. The Dao Qi from Renewal of Withered Trees surrounded the curse insects within his brain and suddenly shattered them, sending them into the void. This method was extremely dangerous; if I wasn't careful, Guo Huaiyi could lose his life. He let out a muffled groan, his expression filled with agony as veins bulged on his forehead. I quickly worked to heal the severe damage to his brain.
After a while, Guo Huaiyi woke up, bloodshot eyes filled with fear.
I asked, "What exactly happened?"
Guo Huaiyi replied, "My father and I discovered Song Qianqiu's whereabouts. He went to Miaojiang and resurrected countless corpses of the Miaojiang Grand Shamans buried underground."
"Miaojiang Grand Shaman?" Everyone looked puzzled.
Guo Huaiyi explained, "More than a hundred years ago during the Dark Turmoil, the previous Dao Sovereign went to great lengths to eradicate the threat of curses and sorcery by using forbidden techniques to wipe out all the tribes of Miaojiang. The Miaojiang Grand Shaman is the leader and high priest of each tribe. The curse insects they consumed were either century-old insect kings or highly toxic creatures with immense vitality that allowed them to withstand the Dao Sovereign's forbidden attacks. Before dying, they sealed their bodies within Corpse Puppets. My father and I discovered this secret; Song Qianqiu didn't even engage us directly but instead unleashed countless Miaojiang Grand Shamans to attack us. In my carelessness, I fell victim to the curse. My father went to find the Seven-Colored Underworld Insect; only that can save me. Directly shattering the curse insects inside me like you did is incredibly perilous; one misstep could mean my death."
