In the records of the Daoist Sect, the Ten Thousand Swords Technique was created by the once-glorious leader of the Ancient Shu Mountain sect. This leader's swordsmanship was legendary; with the Ten Thousand Swords Technique, he swept through all opponents, leaving no one able to stand against him.
Later, the Ten Thousand Swords Technique became difficult to learn, only accessible to those who reached the Sword Realm. The Sword Pavilion rose during chaotic times, and within its Sword Manual, the Ten Thousand Swords Technique ranked first, while the Five Elements Sword Technique ranked second. Aside from the founding Ancestor Master Invincible East of the Sword Pavilion, who mastered the Ten Thousand Swords Technique, no one else in later generations could achieve it, including the Supreme Sword Elder.
However, Dongfang Jiu mastered the Crimson Dawn Sword Technique at a young age, reaching the Sword Realm in his swordsmanship. Later, as he took charge of the Sword Pavilion and learned the Ten Thousand Swords Technique, he passed on the Five Elements Sword Technique to Dongfang Yuqing, as it required immense mental strength and intellect to master.
Dongfang Jiu could be considered the most extraordinary talent in a thousand years for the Sword Pavilion. He single-handedly led the Sword Pavilion to prominence in Zhongzhou. No righteous person could surpass him; even the ancient Emei and Wudang sects had to bow down to him.
The Seven Star Sword was a divine weapon brought out by Zhang Sanfeng from a hidden sword cave over six hundred years ago at the founding of Wudang Sect. Whether Daoist or mortal, anyone wielding the Seven Star Sword could unleash sword energy. Thus, Zhang Sanfeng created Wudang Sword Qi Slash and Wudang Sword Qi Piercing the Heart based on the sword energy of the Seven Star Sword.
During the Dark Turmoil over a hundred years ago, Wudang Grandmaster Zhang Zong mastered Wudang Sword Qi Piercing the Heart and dominated the Daoist Sect for decades until Emei produced a Sword Saint named Miao Zhong.
The Sword Saint's One Sword Technique emerged, challenging anyone to compete with him.
Zhang Zong met his end in Wudang's forbidden grounds. Before dying, he comprehended a great secret about the Seven Star Sword: hidden within its hilt was its true sword formula. If one mastered the Seven Star Sword Technique and lit up its seven stars on a night of Seven Stars, they could slay their master; on a day of continuous strikes, they could defeat even a Supreme!
Any sword formula or Daoist arts would pale before the ultimate essence of the Seven Star Sword Technique because this move was called World Annihilation.
On the eve of Zhang Ziling's death, Zhang Xing retrieved the sword formula from within the Seven Star Sword. After mastering the Blood Demon Technique, he began absorbing foul energies from mountains and rivers and drinking human blood, rapidly increasing his power. Within just six months, he reached Mahayana Realm while suppressing his strength so that no one noticed.
Months prior, he had begun plotting this scheme to seize the sword by contaminating the drinking water of the Sword Pavilion with his demonic blood, gradually controlling everyone within it. In this era where demonic paths had vanished, no one could detect his actions.
Historically, Wudang Grandmaster Zhang Zong had used the Seven Star Sword Technique but ultimately only lit up six stars and could not unleash its ultimate power because what had been passed down was a version created by generations of leaders that could not fully harness the true might of the Seven Star Sword. Only by mastering its innate Ultimate Technique could one alter reality itself.
The ultimate form of Seven Star Sword Technique unleashed. The earth trembled and split; day and night lost their light. The North Dipper's Seven Stars dimmed under this strike as Jiangnan was turned upside down and all of Central Plains felt its impact.
Countless people were struck dead by this world-ending force. At that moment, as if summoned by it, Seven Star's power forcibly shattered its divine weapon exterior; dark light seeped through its fragile shell, absorbing light from mountains and rivers. The countless souls slain by Seven Star Sword Technique were drawn into this Evil Weapon, becoming part of its Sword Soul.
In darkness, I struck open debris that buried me and Yunxi beneath it. Yunxi looked around in shock; all those ordinary people who hadn’t managed to escape and some low-powered Daoist disciples who had come to witness were dead.
Countless people cried out, searching through the rubble for the bodies of their companions, with few understanding what had transpired.
Yunxi and I exchanged a glance and flew towards the Sword Pavilion on Lake Island.
The surface of the lake was littered with many corpses, and all the buildings of the Sword Pavilion had been reduced to ruins. The nearest Nangong and Yu Youya emerged from the ground, covered in dirt and confusion, completely stunned by the recent events.
In the midst of the wreckage of the Sword Furnace, the Sword Cauldron lay shattered, with Poison Flame from the Five Poisons True Fire spilling everywhere. The Divine Weapon was cracked open, revealing the Evil Weapon inside.
The Evil Weapon emitted a red glow, radiating a sinister power that devoured countless souls to strengthen itself.
Amidst the Poison Flame, Dongfang Jiu lay with mutilated limbs, trembling uncontrollably. His body was riddled with wounds, bones protruding, and his face was nearly unrecognizable.
Above him, Zhang Xing looked down from the Forging Platform, his eyes losing their starlight as he gazed at Dongfang Jiu below.
"With my Wudang destroyed, it seems the Sword Pavilion has met its end as well."
Dongfang Jiu struggled, his face twisted in pain. "I never expected that sparing your life would ruin my plans. I see your aura is weak and your Magic Skill is in disarray; you won't last long!"
Zhang Xing laughed heartily. "When I practiced my Magic Skill back then, I was already prepared for this. As long as I can outlive you, that's enough. I endured humiliation while watching Wudang fall to someone like you who only seeks profit. I want you to know that the law of the jungle you cherish will one day come back to haunt you. Now that retribution has arrived, I will make you witness how I use your own Evil Weapon to destroy this sickly and cruel Daoist Sect!"
Zhang Xing charged towards the Evil Weapon.
Whoosh!
A streak of light shot out, piercing through Zhang Xing's arm as Yang Xuanzong flew in from a distance and landed in the arena. "An ant dares to seize a Divine Weapon? What does your Seven Star Sword Technique matter now?"
Zhang Xing seethed with anger. The Seven Star Sword Technique consumed immense energy, and with the alignment of the Seven Stars no longer present, he could only use it once more in a short time. He had already cleaved half of Central Plains' Nation with a single strike, causing devastation and claiming countless innocent lives, resulting in a loss of ten thousand Merit.
A massive hand descended, slamming Zhang Xing into the ground. As the hand lifted, Li Chang'an landed atop the Sword Sect Ruins.
The enormous handprint left on the ground crushed Zhang Xing, and Li Chang'an snorted, "One strike is enough. Using the Seven Star Sword Technique will inevitably backfire, yet you still dare to remain here."
Suddenly, Zhang Xing's corpse transformed into a Blood Serpent, slithering out of the giant pit left by the handprint. Slowly, he began to reform, his face twisted with Evil Energy as he glared at Yang Xuanzong and Li Chang'an. "Two old fools, do you think this is enough to kill your ancestors? I, Zhang Xing, have never offended your Yang Family. The next to be destroyed will be the Yang Family!"
"Youthful arrogance truly knows no bounds!" A booming laughter echoed from above the void, where a figure stood with hands clasped behind his back, descending at an angle from the clouds. This person had a topknot and wore the attire of an old scholar. "I have watched as you obliterated thirty thousand miles of beautiful landscapes with your sword. The destructive power of the Seven Star Sword is indeed astonishing!"
Zhang Xing turned to the elder and asked, "Yang Family Old Scholar?"
The Old Scholar raised an eyebrow. "Indeed. It seems that the title of Old Scholar is more renowned than my given name, Yang Kaishan."
Zhang Xing replied, "Since even the Supreme has arrived, it seems I won't be able to obtain this Evil Weapon. I have no enmity with the Yang Family, but may I first take the life of this old fool, Dongfang Jiu?"
With one hand behind his back and the other extended in a gesture of invitation, the Old Scholar allowed it. Grateful, Zhang Xing took up his Seven Star Sword and approached Dongfang Jiu, who glared at him with his single eye, filled with rage.
A slight smile curled at the corner of Zhang Xing's mouth as he lunged forward, aiming for Dongfang Jiu's neck. Suddenly, a long sword shot down from the clouds with a whoosh. Hearing the rush of wind, Zhang Xing retreated swiftly as four more long swords targeted his previous position. Holding his sword ready to attack, he faced off against Dongfang Yuqing, who descended gracefully. With two fingers bent in a gesture, he executed the Five Elements Sword Technique. Without even looking at Zhang Xing, five long swords whirled around him, unleashing a brilliant burst of sword light that sent Zhang Xing flying backward.
At that moment, I and Yunxi flew in from afar and landed in the arena. Upon seeing us arrive, Zhang Xing frowned and began to retreat.
"Dongfang Yuqing," I called out.
He glanced at me before furrowing his brow at the fallen figure of Dongfang Jiu.
With a bitter smile, Dongfang Jiu looked at his son and said, "Son."
"Dongfang Yuqing" replied, "How did you end up like this?"
"Eastern Nine," he said, "my stubbornness and competitiveness have led to this outcome, and now you get to see the joke of it all."
Dongfang Yuqing's eyes were red as he turned his gaze elsewhere. I stepped forward and patted his shoulder. "His Qi Sea is destroyed, and his Nascent Soul has been eroded by Poison Fire. Say your goodbyes."
Dongfang Yuqing replied, "What’s there to say? The grudge of a mother’s murder—he's a great hero; losing a son means nothing to him. What am I to him?"
I sighed and looked at Dongfang Jiu, who was also looking at me. He said, "When you jumped off the cliff and came back to life, I thought it was strange that your Qi Sea could regenerate. Now it seems you've suffered an Injury of the Dao. It's unfortunate that you're about to descend into the Underworld."
"Life and death are determined by fate; success and failure depend on you. As long as you still have breath left, there's no need for further words," I said.
"Eastern Nine," he continued, "when I saw Dongfang Yuqing turn against me to save you, I wondered who he would side with if we ever fought."
"After all, you are his father. He never intended to turn against you; it's just that your actions have been too selfish. Besides power, have you ever thought about pursuing anything else?" I asked.
Dongfang Jiu's gaze became distant, as if lost in memories. "Aside from power, nothing else lasts long. How could I not want to pursue..."
