At the summit of Mount Tai, Guo Daozhen opened his eyes above the Royal Altar, the radiance around him converging. One of his eyes emitted a chaotic light, its power astonishing.
“Father, congratulations on the restoration of your eyesight!” Guo Huaiyi said.
Guo Daozhen nodded with great joy. “This Yang Family High Priest's eye is indeed extraordinary; it allows me to see things that are otherwise invisible. If I had left the other eye with him, I could now observe every move of the Yang Family through it.”
“What should we do next?” Guo Huaiyi asked.
“There’s no rush,” Guo Daozhen replied. “Your power is rapidly advancing. Come with me to the Underworld; I will complete the Demon King Diagram within you. At that point, no one among your peers will be able to surpass you. But you must remember one thing.”
“What is it?” Guo Huaiyi inquired.
“Do not oppose Yang Hao. You may play around, but never become enemies; otherwise, our fates will change,” Guo Daozhen warned.
“He has already lost his cultivation, hasn’t he? The Book of Life and Death and the Martial Dao Classic are gone, and even the Zhou Compass is missing. What kind of storm can he stir up?” Guo Huaiyi asked in confusion.
“Snake Goddess was released by him. I was also released by him. The Azure Cloud Sect was destroyed because of him, and the Hua Shan Uprising was due to him as well. Even your revival is related to his emergence. Even if he has lost everything, he cannot be measured by ordinary standards. I cannot see through him; there must be a way protecting him. Furthermore, there is some entity within him that grows rapidly and possesses terrifying power; I cannot determine what it is. Just listen to my advice.”
“Understood,” Guo Huaiyi nodded.
Within the Kunlun Secret Realm, a woman was climbing alone toward a cliff at the edge of the secret area. Below her, an altar emerged with strange runes swirling around it. The space seemed unstable as the ground trembled, causing her to fall downward. Her fingers clawed at the sheer cliff face as she was scraped by sharp stones.
This woman was Zhou Manman, who had lost contact with Yang Hao and others.
Three days prior, Zhou Manman had awakened from darkness after being swept into a gorge by the Beast Tide. Rocks and logs had trapped her inside the gorge, and when she regained consciousness, she felt intense pain throughout her body—her bones broken and muscles torn.
Zhou Manman called out for Yang Hao but received no response. She practiced The Art of Reviving Withered Trees in the Jade Pool to heal her injuries. Once she regained sensation in her limbs, she slowly moved her body and pulled one leg free from beneath a boulder. Clawing at the dark, damp earth and branches, she climbed upward until she emerged as a muddy figure.
Standing at the top of the gorge, Zhou Manman looked around at the desolate surroundings. Occasionally, corpses emitted a foul stench while some animals feasted on them. She called out for Yang Hao several more times without any reply before continuing deeper into the Kunlun secret area. After what felt like an eternity of exhausting travel, she reached a stream where she washed away the grime covering her body and face, revealing numerous bloody scratches.
Looking at her reflection in the water, Zhou Manman couldn't help but sob quietly; throughout her journey, she had seen no signs of life. The mountains were littered with decaying corpses reduced to bones and broken trees.
Upon entering the Kunlun Secret Realm, she was greeted by vast stretches of giant Great Demon beast skeletons kneeling on the ground. These remains filled her with fear yet compelled her to move forward; memories flooded back to a year ago when Big Black Cat had carefully guided her past the Daoist Sect across Kunlun. Now she was all alone, and sorrow welled up within her heart.
She had always been an orphan, devoid of any familial care. People only looked at her with lewd eyes. Perhaps it was fate that led her to encounter the Big Black Cat and The Woman in the Coffin, and ultimately to Yang Hao. In the end, her soul followed the Big Black Cat to Kunlun, where she was reborn.
Zhou Manman’s hands were calloused from toil as she gazed down at the distorted runes of the Mysterious Altar. Gritting her teeth, she climbed to the top of the cliff, while behind her, the altar disintegrated with a thunderous explosion. The massive bones of the beast were obliterated, and the entire Kunlun Secret Realm was flattened, with cliffs collapsing all around. Zhou Manman fell from the wreckage, feeling her arm twist painfully behind her back before losing consciousness.
Three days later, Zhou Manman awoke amidst the rubble of rocks. She limped toward the deepest part of Kunlun, dragging her injured body along. No one knew that beyond the Kunlun Secret Realm lay another vast expanse, a place even the renowned Dragon Tiger Mountain Patriarch had never reached.
At this moment, beneath Mount Hua, a bottomless abyss sprawled like a network of intertwining rivers leading into the distance, with no end in sight.
In a nearby mountain village, Rain Master Luo opened her eyes. Her lips were cracked, her complexion darkened, and her throat felt parched as if on fire; only her eyes and fingers could move.
Lying on a clean bed covered with a quilt, she faintly smelled a pungent medicinal aroma wafting from beneath it. Frowning, she glanced out the window and vaguely saw a man with long hair standing with his back to her.
A Villager approached from behind with a basin of medicinal soup. After exchanging a few words with the long-haired man and receiving his consent, she entered the room. The Villager placed the basin beside the bed and was about to lift Rain Master Luo's quilt when Rain Master Luo suddenly grabbed her arm.
Startled, the Villager quickly called out, “Sir! This young lady has awakened!”
The long-haired man turned and stepped into the room. Seeing Rain Master Luo awake, he spoke gently, “Senior Sister Yu, you’re awake?”
“Who are you?” Rain Master Luo asked hoarsely.
The long-haired man replied, “I am Song Qianqiu. It’s an honor to meet you, Senior Sister Yu.”
“Song Qianqiu, the eldest disciple of Azure Cloud Sect?” Rain Master Luo inquired.
Song Qianqiu nodded. “Indeed. Senior Sister Yu suffered severe injuries and has been unconscious for three days and nights. It’s time for your dressing change. How about we let Auntie change your bandages first before discussing anything else?”
Rain Master Luo slightly nodded in agreement as Song Qianqiu turned to leave.
The Villager lifted Rain Master Luo's quilt to reveal her body wrapped in bandages soaked with crimson blood and a strong medicinal scent.
As the Villager began to unwrap the bandages, Rain Master Luo winced in pain. The Villager remarked, “Miss, this gentleman outside must be your boyfriend; otherwise, why would he care for you so much? When he brought you here days ago, you were already lifeless. He must have used some method to bring you back; he even fainted once during that time and looked terrible. He has been gathering herbs for me to brew medicine for your recovery. I never expected you would truly wake up! Where can one find such a handsome and kind-hearted man?”
Rain Master Luo remained silent as she listened to the Villager until her bandages were finally changed and replaced with fresh ones.
Song Qianqiu entered with a bowl of medicinal soup, gesturing for the villager to leave. He blew on the soup lightly and said, "Senior Sister Yu, this is a healing soup. Let me feed you."
"No need, I can do it myself," Rain Master Luo replied, enduring the pain as she took the bowl from Song Qianqiu's hands.
"Senior Sister Yu, your injuries are severe. You will need to rest for a long time. During this period, you must not use Dao Qi or engage in any strenuous activities; otherwise, your wounds could reopen and become inflamed, which would be disastrous," Song Qianqiu explained.
Rain Master Luo asked, "What happened after I was pushed off the cliff at Mount Hua?"
Song Qianqiu replied, "In response to your question, Yang Hao was forced to commit suicide. His Qi Sea was destroyed, and he jumped off the cliff in front of everyone."
Upon hearing that Yang Hao had been driven to death, Rain Master Luo felt her mind go blank.
"I find it hard to understand. Senior Sister Yu was pierced through by Three Swords, with each sword penetrating deep into your body. Yet not only did you survive, but you also managed to endure it. Have you perhaps practiced some extraordinary Cultivation Method?" Song Qianqiu inquired.
Rain Master Luo said, "Aside from the Emei Cultivation Method, I have not practiced any others. Perhaps my life is just cheap; I still don't want to be taken."
"Senior Sister smiles. Now you are already a remarkable figure in the Daoist Sect. Many consider you the first extraordinary woman, defeating the leaders of the Five Major Sects as a disciple without losing. Just this achievement is unparalleled; even Divine Hero Yang Sanqian would fall short compared to you. No one's life is more precious than Senior Sister Yu's," Song Qianqiu stated.
Hearing Song Qianqiu's words eased Rain Master Luo's expression considerably. She asked, "Why would you go out of your way to save me?"
Song Qianqiu smiled and said, "It is an honor for Qianqiu to save Senior Sister. I have always admired you and am just an orphan without anyone to care for me. If you don't mind, we could call each other brother and sister."
"No need," Rain Master Luo firmly rejected.
"If Senior Sister is unwilling, I won't insist. For now, please stay here to recuperate. Once you're feeling better, you can return to Emei Mountain," Song Qianqiu said.
"Arched Eyebrows has already expelled me from the Sect; what would I return to Arched Eyebrows for?" Rain Master Luo's eyes revealed sadness and disappointment.
Song Qianqiu asked, "There are rumors that you saved Yang Hao because you fell in love with him at first sight. Is there any truth to that?"
Rain Master Luo frowned and said, "I'm tired; please leave for now."
Realizing he had asked an inappropriate question, Song Qianqiu's expression turned apologetic as he said, "Then I won't disturb your rest any longer. If you need anything, just let me know."
Song Qianqiu finished and stepped out of the room, while Rain Master Luo stared at the ceiling, memories of the young man's appearance flooding his mind.
At that moment, on a street in the Central Plains, Dongfang Yuqing, carrying the Five Element Sword, walked towards the city outskirts. The streets and alleys around him grew increasingly deserted. When he reached the edge of the city, he paused, sensing an eerie silence; many stalls remained, yet there were no people in sight.
Dongfang Yuqing stopped and picked up an apple from one of the stalls. He drew the White Sword from behind him and began to peel the fruit as he ate.
"If I finish this apple and you still don't come out, I might just leave on my sword," Dongfang Yuqing said.
Suddenly, the sound of rustling clothes filled the air as a group of Masked Men swooped in from all directions, surrounding Dongfang Yuqing. The leader of the Masked Men remarked, "Eastern Young Hero really has a good attitude, eating fruit at a time like this."
Dongfang Yuqing replied, "What does it matter when you eat fruit? It depends on whether you like it or not. Now tell me, who sent you?"
The Masked Man said, "Our Young Master wishes to see you. Please come with us to avoid any trouble."
"Dongfang Zhen?" Dongfang Yuqing asked.
"You don't need to worry about that," the Masked Man replied.
"Is that so?" Dongfang Yuqing took one last bite of his apple and then threw it at the Masked Man's face. "It's truly pathetic how unprofessional you assassins are."
As a group of Masked Men prepared to attack, four swords suddenly emerged from behind Dongfang Yuqing. They circled around the Masked Men in a flurry of strikes; in an instant, their heads fell as they met their demise.
With the four long swords returned to their sheaths, Dongfang Yuqing held the white Gui Water Sword in his hand and sheathed it behind him. The hidden black-clad figures on either side fell silently to the ground, their hidden weapons clattering as they lost grip on their triggers.
Behind Yinshan Imperial Hall, by Longevity Pool, an elder watched as pieces on his chessboard disappeared one by one. The elder said, "Dragon, it seems those we sent have all died. Their strength was insufficient to capture Dongfang Yuqing."
From within Longevity Pool, Soul Yang Long remarked ethereally, "I knew those people were useless. The Yang Family has raised so many worthless individuals; they can't even capture a single young man!"
"Dragon, don't be angry just yet. This Dongfang Yuqing is no ordinary talent; instead of wasting time here, why not capture some talented individuals from other sects and use their bodies as your furnace?" suggested the elder.
Yang Long replied, "Dongfang Yuqing is among those with the highest hidden potential. Do you think just any talent can wield the Five Element Sword? If I can't find a suitable body soon, my Soul will weaken and my power will regress. Can you bear that responsibility?!"
"Brother, don't rush. I'll find a fellow clansman for your Soul to use as a furnace. I will personally lead people to capture extraordinary talents! And those disciples from Arched Eyebrows who dared to harm my brother's body—it's clear they don't take our Yinshan Yang Family seriously; they must be eradicated!" Yang Peng declared.
"Well, you go to the dungeon and bring back a young man," Yang Long said.
"Understood." Yang Peng bowed and left the Longevity Pool.
Seven days later, Yang Long roared in anger, striking down a young man brought from the dungeon, a bastard son of the Yang Family. He was furious. "How can someone with such poor talent be worthy of my furnace? What are you all doing?"
"Elder Yang said, 'Long, I have already sent people to search. This time we are capturing talents from other sects. It is crucial; if this is exposed, our Yang Family will face scrutiny and condemnation from the entire Daoist Sect!'"
"Brother, I have already brought the best-qualified bastard son from the dungeon," Yang Peng reported.
"No, there is still one more person. Although he isn't great, he will do just fine," Yang Long suddenly remembered someone and said excitedly.
"Who is it?" Yang Peng asked. "I'll go get him right away."
Yang Long looked at Yang Peng as if he were prey and said, "You."
