Song Yuan smiled lightly and said, "It's just an unwritten rule. I, Song Yuan, am still at the late stage of Foundation Establishment, so your Foundation Pill is useful to me."
"But I no longer have my Foundation Pill," I replied, waving my hand.
"Not anymore?" Song Yuan's expression immediately darkened. He asked, "Did you take it yourself?"
I responded, "No, it was taken by Iron Baldy and his gang, along with my ten Qi Gathering Pills and everything else distributed by the sect."
"Iron Baldy? So it's that guy," Song Yuan scoffed, then turned to the young man below and said, "Go fetch Iron Baldy. He dares to steal my things; if he doesn't get a lesson, he really doesn't know his place."
"Yes, Senior Song," the young man replied respectfully before exiting the cave with an extremely humble demeanor.
Song Yuan looked at me with a surprised expression and said, "You must be wondering why everyone is in the Foundation Establishment Realm yet I hold a higher status."
I replied, "There is no doubt. Senior Song, your beauty surpasses all others and your skills are extraordinary; you must come from a noble family, so your high status is only natural."
Upon hearing my words, Song Yuan's gaze turned unfriendly. He pointed at me and said, "You can talk back, but you're not clever enough. You dare to retort my words? Since you are new here, I won't pursue this matter. However, if you dare to contradict me again, this will be your fate."
As he spoke, he flicked his wrist, and a silver gleam of metal shot past me. A potted plant behind me shattered, and outside the cave came a faint sound of wood being pierced.
Everyone was terrified, and I chose not to speak further. Song Yuan snorted and said, "Get lost."
Several young men bowed to Song Yuan in farewell, and I followed them out.
Once outside the cave, I looked at the direction where the potted plant had been pierced by the metal shard. Not far away on a Birch Tree, I found the metal piece; it was a uniquely shaped circular throwing weapon that was incredibly sharp.
I pulled the circular weapon free and tucked it away carefully before following the young man who had gone to notify Iron Baldy down the mountain.
When the young man arrived at Iron Baldy's residence, he was informed: "Iron Brother has taken some people to teach a newcomer a lesson. It's about three to five hundred meters south of the cafeteria. I heard that a new Outer Sect disciple has decent cultivation but just entered the Inner Sect and refuses to be disciplined. He severely injured several fellow disciples living with him and demanded they move out of their courtyard."
"Is there really someone so unaware of their own limitations?" A hint of interest appeared on the young man's face. "Then I'll go take a look as well. Today Senior Song also had a new disciple who almost provoked him into killing."
"Young people these days are becoming increasingly arrogant; there's no discipline at all. By the way, why did you come looking for Iron Brother?"
The young man replied, "Senior Song asked Iron Baldy to come over and deliver a Foundation Pill."
The young man hurriedly left, and I quietly followed him until we reached my residence. Outside the Siheyuan, there were many people gathered. Iron Baldy looked at the three severely injured youths and said, "Don't worry, I will avenge you. He won't escape."
When the young man saw Iron Baldy, he said, "Iron Brother, Senior Song wants you to go to his Cave."
"Song Yuan?" Iron Baldy asked in confusion. "What does he want from me?"
The young man replied, "He wants you to hand over the Foundation Pill."
Iron Baldy snorted, "That's my possession; why should I give it to him? Besides, I refined the Foundation Pill last night. I'm not his subordinate; just because I'm close to him doesn't mean I have to listen to him."
The young man felt awkward and said, "I've delivered the message. Senior Song is still waiting in the Cave. It would be best if you went."
After hesitating for a moment, Iron Baldy said, "Fine, I'll go. If you see that newcomer Yang Hao, make sure to teach him a lesson. Remember, don't kill him, but make sure he ends up crippled!"
"I will definitely ruin him!" the youth whose jaw I had crushed mumbled through his bandaged chin, tears streaming down his face from the pain.
I followed closely behind Iron Baldy as he walked towards Birch Mountain and saw him enter Song Yuan's Cave.
Before long, Iron Baldy emerged from Song Yuan's Cave with his hand pressed against his chest. His face looked grim as he cursed under his breath. He pulled out a medicine bottle from his pocket and smugly declared, "Want my Foundation Pill? No way."
As he walked along the necessary path down the mountain, it was getting late. Although moonlight filtered through the Birch Forest, Iron Baldy was too angry to notice the Silver Thread on the ground. He tripped over it and came to an abrupt stop. Looking down at the nearly invisible Silver Thread, he suddenly heard a rush of wind behind him and quickly leaped aside to avoid several leaves that shot toward him like meteors.
The moment Iron Baldy turned around, he gasped sharply in pain as something pierced through the back of his neck, locking onto his cervical vertebrae.
He reached back to pull out whatever had struck him in the neck, but his hand froze halfway up and couldn't move.
I descended slowly from above the Birch Tree, my index finger wrapped around the Silver Thread that connected to Iron Baldy's neck.
I turned Iron Baldy's head toward me; he glared at me with fury in his eyes and said, "It's you!"
I replied, "Yes, it's me. Surprised?"
"What do you want?" Iron Baldy snorted. "If you have the guts, fight me openly. Using such underhanded tactics shows your lack of skill."
As I pulled out the medicine bottle from Iron Baldy's pocket and retrieved my Foundation Pill, I said, "Whether a method is righteous or evil depends on who wields it. If it can defeat an enemy, it's a good skill. If you really thought you could fight me fairly, I wouldn't have gone through all this trouble to kill you. You clearly believe you can beat me but insist on bringing a large group for backup; then I have no choice but to play dirty. What was that saying? I don't know what youthful arrogance is; I only know that winners are kings. If he dies and I live, then I've won."
Iron Baldy's eyes were filled with disdain as he said, "With my status in the Inner Sect, even though I'm not a top expert on the Dragon-Tiger List, if you kill me, you'll lose your life too."
"Whether I live or die is my own business; I don't care what you worry about," I said as I retracted the Silver Thread and aimed Iron Baldy's body down the mountain path. "Do you think lying here and tumbling down would look more natural?"
Iron Baldy turned pale with fear, cold sweat dripping from his forehead. "What do you want to do? We're all from the same sect. I swear I won't trouble you again. I can introduce you to Brother Cao, who ranks fourth on the Dragon-Tiger List. His treatment is far better than here in Song Yuan. Brother Cao is generous and will definitely not mistreat you."
I leaned closer to Iron Baldy's ear and whispered, "What are those people to brag about like they're deities? Do you believe that if you provoke me, I'll kill them all within three to five months?"
"I-I..." Iron Baldy was at a loss for words. He wanted to use Dao Qi to break free from his restraints, but the Puppet Technique had locked his Meridians and confined his marrow. The only way to escape would be to break his own cervical vertebrae, but that would leave him incapacitated.
I took out a circular hidden weapon from Song Yuan and pointed it at the back of Iron Baldy's head, speaking softly, "Should I pierce your brain in one go, or should I insert this thing? What if you don’t die or if I pierce your brain but this hidden weapon goes unnoticed? No, this is too complicated."
"Wait, Brother Yang Hao, it was my fault before. Let me go, and you'll be the boss from now on..."
Before Iron Baldy could finish his sentence, I suddenly threw the circular hidden weapon at the back of his head. With a clang, it pierced through his skull and lodged itself in a Birch Tree ahead. Iron Baldy fell with wide-open eyes onto the mountain path. I retracted the Silver Thread, stepped over his corpse, and vanished into the darkness of the night.
The next morning, the Azure Cloud Sect's Inner Sect was in an uproar because Iron Baldy had been killed on Birch Mountain, a place cleared by Song Yuan, who ranked tenth on the Dragon-Tiger List.
Iron Baldy's reputation in the Inner Sect was quite notable; he was at least among the top thirty experts there, in the mid Foundation Establishment Realm, and also a subordinate of Cao Bohou, who ranked fourth on the Dragon-Tiger List.
On Birch Mountain, many disciples of the Inner Sect gathered around. The Elder of the Azure Cloud Sect heard the news and came personally. After examining Iron Baldy's corpse, he looked at the innocent Song Yuan and said, "The Dao Qi residuals in this disciple's body are of the same origin as yours."
