I felt a sudden darkness envelop me, and before I knew it, I was knocked to the ground. The flashlight I held slipped from my grasp and fell beside me. I hadn’t even had a chance to resist when the shadow darted away, vanishing in an instant. In that moment, I felt as if I had returned from hell to the surface, but my heart was still lodged in my throat, refusing to settle. 0

I quickly scrambled to my feet, patting my chest with my hand as I picked up the fallen flashlight. My breath was slightly uneven as I glanced at the Mud Man, who held a knife now stained with a black liquid. 0

I guessed that the Mud Man must have saved me just moments ago. 0

“Are you okay?” he asked. 0

I nodded, though the terror on my face hadn’t completely faded. I lifted my head to search for any trace of that shadow on the ceiling, but it was empty now. 0

“Mud Man, did you see what that shadow was?” 0

“No,” he replied tersely. 0

Yet I still felt a lingering fear. 0

“Check yourself for injuries,” the Mud Man urged. 0

“I’m fine,” I said, shaking off my body slightly. 0

“It’s better to check,” he insisted, his gaze fixed on me. 0

Seeing his determination, I reluctantly examined myself. To my dismay, I found several black claw marks on my skin. The marks resembled human fingers—five in total—but there were also some fine strands of fur scattered across my arm. 0

The claw marks were deep enough that some spots showed signs of blood. 0

Preliminary judgment suggested this might be a living creature, and that thought sent chills down my spine. In such an environment, the presence of any creature would be alarming. 0

The clay figure stared at the liquid on the blade in a daze. 0

"Is it blood?" I turned my thoughts to ask the clay figure. 0

"No." 0

Upon hearing this response, a storm surged within me; my assumptions were shattered. I leaned closer to examine the black liquid on the clay figure's blade, catching a faint metallic scent, though not overpowering, and it was very viscous! What could this possibly be? I had to ponder. 0

Is it a living thing? It shouldn't be; living creatures have blood, that's common knowledge. 0

Could it be that its blood isn't red? That isn't entirely impossible. 0

"Clay figure, do you think that shadow might be a living creature?" I blurted out. 0

"Hard to say," the clay figure replied with a serious expression. 0

Suddenly, I felt an urgent anxiety, as if something was pounding in my chest. 0

"What's wrong with you?" 0

I seemed a bit unsettled, and the clay figure was watching me intently. 0

"You're not right." 0

"What do you mean?" 0

The clay figure's gaze began to change, looking at me as if I were a monster. I slowly started to panic, feeling my breath quicken: "Clay figure, please don't scare me." 0

This time, the clay figure didn't answer directly. Instead, it suddenly grabbed my hand. The light illuminated my arm, revealing several red claw marks that now resembled a spider's web pattern spreading black tendrils, densely scattered and expanding. 0

It felt as if something was gripping my arm tightly. 0

"You've been poisoned." The brief statement left me momentarily speechless. I couldn't help but curse, "Damn it," realizing that I had been poisoned twice since entering this Tomb. It seemed I wouldn't be living much longer. 0

The patterns on my arm continued to spread like spider silk, and my discomfort grew alongside it. It looked like I was done for. 0

I thought pessimistically, but the Mud Man didn't hesitate. He quickly pulled out a white bandage from his backpack and tightly wrapped it around my bicep, causing my veins to bulge. In an instant, I felt the blood flow constricted, and a sense of swelling began to overwhelm me. 0

My other arm was soon bound as well. 0

Then he swiftly made a cross-shaped incision on my wrist. I realized he was trying to let out some blood, but soon I was stunned to see that the blood flowing out was black. A wave of dizziness hit me, and I felt like I couldn't hold on much longer. 0

Before long, the Mud Man gave me a pill. Instantly, a cool sensation spread in my mouth, refreshing yet disorienting. 0

However, my consciousness began to fade more and more until I finally lost it completely. 0

I had no idea what happened afterward. 0

When I finally woke up again, the Mud Man was wiping sweat from his forehead. Seeing me open my eyes, he sighed in relief and said, "It's good that you're awake." 0

"I'm okay?" I asked weakly, feeling mentally exhausted. 0

"You're fine; you have a strong will to live." 0

Looking at my hands nearly suffocated by the white bandages, I knew he was telling the truth. 0

I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a sense of having escaped death. 0

"Thank you, Mud Man." 0

The clay figure was taken aback for a moment, then let out a curse that roughly meant, "Why would we thank each other?" 0

I forced a bitter laugh a few times; at least I was still alive, but I still felt somewhat weak. 0

The clay figure handed me the water bottle, urging me to hydrate. Without hesitation, I took the bottle and gulped down a mouthful. 0

At that moment, Fat Ma swaggered over, muttering to himself and cursing aloud, "After searching for so long, turns out he damn well has nothing. What a waste of my effort." 0

"Old Sun, why do you look like some pretty boy?" Fat Ma teased, unaware of what had happened here. 0

"Get lost; your whole family are pretty boys." 0

Fat Ma laughed and replied, "Old Sun, did you eat gunpowder? Why are you so irritable!" 0

Just as I was about to respond, my body betrayed me with a fit of violent coughing. 0

Seeing something was off with me, Fat Ma quickly asked, "Old Sun, you’re not about to kick the bucket, are you?" 0

"You can’t expect anything good from a dog’s mouth; can’t you say something nice?" 0

Fat Ma chuckled and shook his head. I briefly explained the situation, and his face jiggled with disbelief. 0

"Here, Old Sun, have a smoke to calm your nerves!" 0

I waved my hand dismissively. "I can barely catch my breath; how can I smoke?" 0

Fat Ma didn’t press the issue and lit one for himself instead. He sighed dramatically, "Old Sun, we really are two unfortunate brothers." 0

I didn’t respond. 0

"Let's get our revenge for this." 0

" Fat Ma, stop talking so much," the Mud Man suddenly interrupted Fat Ma. 0

Fat Ma fell silent. 0

Suddenly, that shadow flashed by again, and this time all four of us caught sight of it. 0

Fat Ma let out a howl, and Old Ghost's face showed a hint of fear. 0

At that moment, I felt it was a bit difficult to even stand up. 0

Fat Ma's howl attracted the attention of the other five. 0

"Old Sun, here's your chance for revenge on behalf of Fat Master." 0

I placed a hand on my chest and said to the Fat Ma, "Don't let your guard down." 0

"Old Sun, what Fat Master said..." Before Fat Ma could finish his sentence, that shadow lunged forward. Fat Ma twisted his plump body and nimbly dodged it, whispering, "That was close!" 0

Meanwhile, Old Ghost had dropped directly to the ground. 0
