Xiao Nan stood dazed behind me. I turned to look at him and asked lightly, "Why aren't you going in?" 0

"Brother Sun, I want to follow you," Xiao Nan replied. 0

I paused for a moment, then stepped inside, with Xiao Nan illuminating the path behind me since my old flashlight was no longer working. 0

Fat Ma's voice came from inside, "Old Sun, stop dawdling and get over here." 0

I cursed, " Fat Ma, why are you in such a hurry?" 0

"Can I not be? If we take too long, you'll be left waiting for the wind to blow." 0

Fat Ma's voice grew closer, and I knew he must have stopped to wait for me. I hurried forward, taking two steps for every one of his. 0

Fat Ma shone the flashlight directly into my eyes. I raised my hand to shield myself and immediately shouted, " Fat Ma, what are you doing?" 0

He chuckled awkwardly and moved the flashlight away. "I was worried you might get dragged off by a ghost, so I’m lighting the way for you." 0

"Stop talking nonsense; it's not like I don't have a flashlight." 0

"My bad, my bad. I'm just looking out for you!" 0

"Get lost," I said. 0

The clay figure stood side by side with Fat Ma. I glanced ahead and saw that Hills and the others were almost at the corner. 0

Fat Ma waved his hand in front of my eyes and asked, "What are you staring at so intently?" 0

I withdrew my gaze and said, "Let's go!" 0

Fat Ma stood there for a moment, then quickly caught up with me. "Old Sun, don't you think something's off about Hilly Big Sister?" 0

Hearing this, I stopped in my tracks and replied, " Fat Ma, you're overthinking again." 0

Fat Ma muttered an explanation, "No, just listen to me." 0

I turned around and said, "Go ahead!" 0

"Don't you think Hilly Big Sister's personality has changed?" 0

"It's normal for someone to change a bit after so many years," I responded. 0

"Yeah, that makes sense. I'll think about it some more and tell you later," Fat Ma agreed. 0

"Then let's go! Otherwise, the treasure might get snatched away by someone else." 0

Upon hearing the word 'treasure,' Fat Ma's face lit up. He turned to the clay figure and said, "What are you standing there for?" 0

"Damn it, Fat Ma," the clay figure blurted out. 0

Fat Ma was already striding confidently toward Moneylender Avenue. 0

The clay figure hurriedly followed, and I sighed quietly, calling out to Xiao Nan as I quickened my pace. 0

This dark path was paved with large stones, all smoothed down, and the sides were the same. Here and there, specks of gold dust clung to the surface. 0

Fat Ma walked along, humming a tune, completely unlike someone who was panning for gold; he seemed more like a tourist. 0

“Wow! Damn,” Fat Ma exclaimed in surprise. The clay figure also clicked his tongue in admiration. 0

I quickened my steps, and when I saw what lay ahead, my heart was instantly filled with astonishment. Damn, I could hardly believe it. 0

Fat Ma's eyes were fixed ahead as his hand moved toward the knife at his waist. He pulled out a pouch and began scraping the side wall with the knife. The sound of metal scraping against stone echoed like nails on a chalkboard, sending an inexplicable chill down my spine. 0

I snapped back to reality and looked at Fat Ma, asking, “Fat Ma, what are you doing?” 0

Fat Ma's eyes sparkled as he replied, “Accumulating primitive wealth.” 0

I felt a sudden tightness in my chest. 0

The clay figure scolded him, “Are you stupid? There must be something better inside.” 0

Upon hearing this, Fat Ma seemed enlightened. He immediately perked up, sheathing his knife and praising, “You’re right, Clay Man! How did I not think of that?” 0

The gold on both sides shimmered brightly under the flashlight's beam; it was truly something he had never seen or heard of before! Both sides were covered in gold dust. While I couldn't be sure that the interior was also gold, just seeing this was enough to leave me in awe. 0

Fat Ma's earlier actions were somewhat understandable; anyone who saw gold would find it hard not to be tempted. 0

I had heard Old Zhang mention that there were gold mines in Xing'an Ridge, and I might have doubted it before, but now, with solid evidence before me, I had no choice but to believe. 0

"Old Sun, Hilly Big Sister is missing," Fat Ma mumbled. 0

I quickly looked up and said, "Let's go." 0

Fat Ma responded, "Alright!" 0

"Brother Sun." 0

"Yes, what is it?" I looked at Xiao Nan. 0

Xiao Nan's expression was a bit strange as she hesitantly said, "It's nothing, let's go, Brother Sun." 0

Fat Ma and the clay figure had already moved several meters away from me. 0

Feeling a bit awkward, I smiled at Xiao Nan and quickened my pace to catch up. 0

I also realized that something was off with my state of mind. I pinched myself hard to focus. 0

After walking a bit further and turning a corner, the path ahead looked just like the previous one. 0

The Hills stopped. Fat Ma leaned forward curiously to take a look. The way ahead was blocked; a person was crouching down, preparing explosives. 0

Fat Ma struck up a conversation, "Comrade, I didn't expect you could mix explosives too." 0

The girl who mixed the explosives ignored Fat Ma, who was left out in the cold. At that moment, Hills smiled and said, "Aran is quite the expert in this area!" 0

Fat Ma's expression softened as he replied to Hills, "Sister, you really have a talented team." 0

Hills chuckled again in response. 0

"Step back," Aran said as she straightened up. 0

Upon hearing her voice, we all took a step back. 0

"No, that's too close. At least ten meters," Aran instructed us. 0

We followed her command and retreated a bit further. After lighting the explosives, Aran quickly ran away. 0

With a loud bang, debris flew everywhere, some landing at our feet, but the overall structure remained intact. 0

I covered my ears; my eardrums were vibrating from the force of the explosion, which was contained within the area. 0

"You can come forward now," Aran said. 0

As we approached, the hole created by the blast was just large enough for an adult to pass through. Only Fat Ma had to exert a bit of effort to get through. 0

Once inside, we found ourselves in a room of about forty to fifty square meters, but the environment inside was breathtaking. 0

I had heard elders say that there were golden houses and beautiful jade-like figures in books—things you could hear about but never touch. Yet this place was a tangible Golden House. 0

Every corner of the room, every detail, was crafted from gold, and "opulent" barely began to describe it. 0

"Fat Ma" was ecstatic! Touching this and that, unable to keep his hands off everything! 0

"Xiao Nan" couldn't resist either, following closely behind "Fat Ma." 0

"Fat Ma" looked at "Xiao Nan," taking a moment from his busy exploration to educate her, saying, "Wealth is just an external possession; you come into this world with nothing and leave with nothing. Don't place too much importance on it." 0

"Xiao Nan" couldn't help but give "Fat Ma" a disdainful glance. 0

"Hills" also began to take action, but her target didn't seem to be the gold. She pulled out a map from her pocket and started comparing it. 0

I stepped forward, but "Hills" discreetly tucked the map away. 0

At that moment, "Fat Ma" let out a startled shout, and I instinctively moved away towards him. "Damn it! Scaring 'Fat Master' like that will cost you dearly." 0

A mouse was scurrying around on the floor, and "Fat Ma" chased after it, shouting, "I'll skin you alive!" 0

It turned out to be a false alarm; I wiped the cold sweat from my palms. This " Fat Ma " always made a big fuss over nothing. 0

"It's dead now! Where do you think you're running? Let me show you that 'Fat Master' isn't someone to mess with." "Fat Ma" laughed triumphantly. 0

I patted him on the shoulder. 0

"Fat Ma" turned to me and said, "Old Sun, it's nothing. Just a mouse; I've already taken care of it." 0

"Wow! This mouse's fur is actually golden," I said, captivated. 0

"What's so strange about that? Living in a place like this for years, if it were me, I might turn golden too," came the reply. 0

I couldn't help but laugh. "Then why don't you trade places with this mouse?" 0

Fat Ma glanced at the mouse he had just dealt with and shook his head vigorously, disdainfully saying, "Fat Master’s elegance is not something this mouse can compare to." 0

The Golden House wasn't very large; everything was visible at a glance, except for some niches in the walls. It was easy to see everything clearly. 0

Although this was a Golden House, most of the things inside couldn't be taken away. 0

The floor and walls seemed to be one solid piece, as if they had been dug out of the ground just like that—smooth and even, though it was undeniable that some craftsmanship had gone into it. 0

Two golden pillars stood tall, each entwined with a Divine Dragon, exuding an imposing aura. 0

At the front of the Golden House, there was surprisingly a bed. At first glance, it didn't clash with the rest of the room, but as we approached, we realized it was made of wood and covered with a blanket. 0

There was no doubt this was a Treasure House; someone had once lived here. 0

Fat Ma boldly lifted the blanket, and suddenly five or six golden-furred mice scurried out from underneath. We were all taken aback. 0

Fat Ma's anger flared up again as he chased after them furiously. 0

The Golden Mice scattered in panic, but there weren't many hiding spots in the Golden House, so they all dove into the niches in the walls. 0

On one wall, there were twenty or thirty niches, and they seemed to stretch endlessly into darkness. 0

Fat Ma, bold and reckless, almost reached in, but I quickly pulled him back. 0

"Don't," I said to Fat Ma. 0

I shone my flashlight into the niche and found that it was impossible to see the bottom; the small niche was surprisingly winding. 0

Golden Mouse had already vanished without a trace. 0

"Are they inside?" 0

"No." 0

The purpose of the niches was to hold decorations. I looked into other niches, and Fat Ma mimicked me. I reminded him not to reach in. Golden Mouse must be hiding inside, and it wouldn't be a joke if it bit him. 0

"Don't worry, Old Sun," Fat Ma said confidently. "I'm not a three-year-old child." 0

But in reality, Fat Ma was just like a three-year-old. This Fat Ma had already poked into several niches while I wasn't paying attention. 0

Just as I was about to prepare for the next one, suddenly, Fat Ma let out a terrible scream, immediately withdrawing his hand and collapsing on the ground, convulsing and foaming at the mouth. I saw that his fingers were entangled with a Gold and White Striped Snake. 0
