Jono's mind reacted in that split second. If Jin Chengyan really intended to do something, she would rather die than submit. Just because this hotel belonged to his family didn't mean he could do whatever he wanted!
Two seconds later, Jin Chengyan pulled a phone out of her trench coat pocket and tossed it into the air in a parabolic arc. With a splash, Jono's most valuable possession fell into the bathtub.
"What are you doing?!" Jono stared incredulously at Jin Chengyan. How could he treat her phone like that?
Jin Chengyan withdrew his hand, crossing his arms over his chest as he stood a meter away, sizing up the woman before him. She looked somewhat familiar, but he couldn't quite place where he had seen her before. Was she one of those paparazzi who had been following him for a long time?
"I don't care how you got in here. You better get out before I call the police!" The pent-up anger within Jin Chengyan finally erupted. He glared coldly at Jono, relieved that she was a woman; if she had been a man, it wouldn't have been as simple as just telling her to leave!
If she wanted to go, then let her go. Did she think he cared about her being here? Without capturing evidence or posing a threat to their capital, Jono shot Jin Chengyan a glare and headed toward the bathroom.
Her phone was still in the bathtub; maybe if she dried it off with a hairdryer, it would still work.
Jin Chengyan watched in confusion as Jono walked not toward the door but into the bathroom. He saw her retrieve her phone from the tub, her face showing a hint of disdain as she pulled out a handkerchief to wrap it up!
Even at this moment, she didn't forget about the evidence she had captured!
With a dark expression, Jin Chengyan walked over without saying a word, snatched the phone from her hands, and tossed it into the toilet!
"Jin Chengyan, are you crazy? Why did you throw my phone?" Jono looked at her phone pitifully lying in the toilet. She had already built up the courage to reach into the water where Jin Chengyan had just bathed; there was no way she could muster the bravery to retrieve it from the toilet!
Jin Chengyan found this to be the funniest joke of the year. This woman dared to say he was crazy?
"Unreasonable." Jin Chengyan snorted coldly, turning to pick up the phone installed by the bathroom door. He pressed a few numbers and said, "Alice, there's a reporter in my room. Come and deal with it, immediately!"
After hanging up the phone angrily, he felt a surge of frustration.
Jono realized that Jin Chengyan thought she was a reporter who had barged into his room to take photos.
"Mr. Jin, I think you misunderstood. I'm not a reporter; I came here to catch... catch someone. The target is definitely not you, but I don't know why you're in this room!" Jono explained, aware that she couldn't afford to get into trouble now.
Jin Chengyan shot her a sharp glance, disbelief evident in his eyes.
"If you don't believe me, I, Jono, swear on my integrity that if I have any intention of infringing upon you, let the worst misfortune in the world befall me!" Jono was desperate to extricate herself from this situation.
However, when Jin Chengyan heard Jono's name, his furrowed brow relaxed slightly, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his mind.
"Jono?" He looked closely at her, finally understanding why she seemed familiar. "Miss Qiao?"
So Jin Chengyan knew her. Jono nodded quickly, relieved that she wasn't mistaken for a paparazzi; otherwise, who knew how she would be treated.
Unexpectedly, Jin Chengyan suddenly chuckled softly. "The former Miss Qiao."
Jono stiffened. For half a month, she had forced herself to adapt from being a young lady to an ordinary citizen, accepting the pitying or mocking glances from others. But when faced with the coldness of a stranger so closely, Jono still felt embarrassed.
