Wang Niu followed the host closely, who led him to a very quiet residence. They arrived at the front of a house.
Wang Niu paused for a moment, his gaze fixed on the entrance. Hanging in front of him was a white bone, which left him feeling puzzled and concerned about what had happened.
"What's wrong, benefactor?" The host noticed Wang Niu's dazed expression and asked. Wang Niu awkwardly smiled and pointed at the bone, asking the host, "What is that?"
The host's gaze also fell upon the bone, and a complex expression flickered in his eyes. Wang Niu was taken aback; he couldn't understand why the host looked that way. He then asked, "Host, is there something difficult to say?"
The host chuckled awkwardly but didn't elaborate. Instead, he said to him, "Benefactor, perhaps you should rest. There's something else I need to tell you: there are many strange occurrences in this courtyard. I hope you won't let your curiosity lead you outside; it could be very dangerous."
Wang Niu's expression shifted slightly as he felt confused. He replied to the host, "Alright."
Afterward, the host left. Wang Niu glanced at the host's retreating figure before turning his attention back to the room ahead. His gaze returned to the white bone at the entrance, and then he stepped inside.
The room itself seemed quite normal. After a long night of tossing and turning, Wang Niu suddenly felt tired and lay down. Soon enough, he drifted into sleep. However, he did not expect that once asleep, strange images would appear in his dreams, causing him to be momentarily stunned.
In his dream, many people and objects appeared—people and things he had never encountered before but felt oddly familiar.
He furrowed his brow when suddenly a girl's voice echoed through his mind, pulling him back into reality.
Wang Niu immediately woke up. At first, he thought that voice had been part of his dream, but then another girl's voice reached his ears. In an instant, he was fully awake. He paused for a moment as if recalling something important and quickly exited the room. The night outside was particularly eerie. Just as Wang Niu stood there in confusion, that voice came again.
"Help me!"
Wang Niu jolted awake at the sound of a girl's cry for help. This strange voice puzzled him; how could such a sound be heard here?
With a strong sense of curiosity, Wang Niu opened the door and stepped outside, the sound seeming to come from a distance.
Wang Niu followed the sound, and at its source, he found what appeared to be an abandoned place.
His heart raced; in such a large gym, how could there be not a single person in sight?
He wanted to turn back, feeling that something was off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
Just as he was about to head back, the voice echoed again, causing him to shiver. Instinctively, he moved toward that direction once more.
The sound grew closer, seemingly right beside him. He glanced around; the night was eerie and unsettling.
Taking a deep breath, Wang Niu suddenly noticed a strange lantern appear before him.
Startled, he was about to flee when the lantern flashed past him, blocking his way.
Wang Niu's heart trembled with uncertainty, feeling lost about what to do. After a moment, the lantern stood still, leaving him with an overwhelming sense of confusion. Then, unexpectedly, the lantern began to move again. This puzzled Wang Niu as he kept his gaze fixed on it. The lantern seemed to beckon him toward a certain direction.
Without thinking, Wang Niu followed the lantern as it led him deeper inside. He could also hear that female voice again.
After walking for a while, the lantern finally stopped in front of a cottage.
At that moment, it extinguished and vanished from Wang Niu's sight. He stood there momentarily stunned, his eyes fixed on the small house ahead. Just then, the voice emanated from within the cottage again, heightening his curiosity even further.
He approached the small house; it was dark inside and he couldn't see anything clearly. This made Wang Niu feel uneasy. He took a few more steps forward and suddenly spotted a red light inside the cottage—it looked like an eyeball. Wang Niu jumped back in shock and quickly turned to leave. Just then, a voice came from within the house that made him freeze in place.
"Help me."
Wang Niu shuddered at the sound.
He instinctively turned back to look inside, where the space suddenly lit up, revealing a woman sitting there.
The woman looked somewhat deranged, and Wang Niu felt a surge of curiosity. How could such a woman be in a place like this? Moreover, her hands and feet were raised.
The woman remained motionless, causing Wang Niu to doubt whether the earlier sounds had come from her.
At that moment, the woman lifted her gaze to Wang Niu. His heart raced as he saw her face, which appeared quite terrifying with large blisters covering it.
"Help me," the woman suddenly stood up and walked toward Wang Niu. He felt a jolt of fear and instinctively wanted to flee, but she grabbed his hand tightly, sending him into a panic.
However, the woman seemed to mean no harm. "Help me, please. I don't want to stay here; I will die."
Wang Niu was momentarily stunned by her words. He didn't understand why she said that, but seeing her pitiful expression made him agree without hesitation.
Her eyes brightened at his response. "Then quickly tear off the talisman on the door."
Wang Niu froze at her words. A talisman?
He glanced around but saw no talisman at all.
Just as he was about to ask the woman, she pointed to the wall beside them. "The talisman is right there. You need to bite your finger and smear your blood on it; then you will see it."
Wang Niu was taken aback, puzzled by how she knew all this. While he was lost in thought, the woman suddenly grasped his hand and bit down on his lip.
This shocked Wang Niu; a sharp pain surged through his palm as blood began to flow freely. The woman pressed his hand against the wall, and in an instant, a bright light erupted from it, enveloping him completely. Soon after, a talisman appeared before him.
"Quickly take it off," the woman said to him.
Wang Niu was momentarily stunned. At that moment, a chill swept over him from behind, rushing toward him fiercely. Just as he was filled with confusion, suddenly, Ling'er’s voice appeared before him. "You can't."
With that, he was stopped by Ling'er.
Ling'er's expression turned serious as she scolded Wang Niu, "Do you even know what that thing is? You want to save her? That's a harmful Demon!"
Upon hearing Ling'er's words, Wang Niu froze. Demon.
He redirected his gaze to the woman. At this point, she had returned to her original position, crouching down with her face buried in her hands. Although the woman looked terrifying, could she really be a Demon?
Seeing Wang Niu lost in thought, Ling'er asked, "What are you looking at? Do you not believe me?"
Wang Niu turned his attention back to Ling'er and shook his head. "No, it's not that I don't believe you. I just feel like she didn't mean any harm earlier."
Ling'er was taken aback by Wang Niu's response. "Don't let her deceive you! Why aren't you using the Yin-Yang Eye I gave you to see who she really is?"
Ling'er's words struck Wang Niu like a bolt of lightning. Yin-Yang Eye.
He paused for a moment and then looked at the woman again, only to be horrified. This wasn't just any woman; she was clearly a terrifying ghost.
Wang Niu screamed in fright, and his voice caught the attention of the woman inside. She lifted her head to look at Wang Niu, and he noticed a hint of disappointment in her eyes. Wang Niu was momentarily stunned; the woman was disappointed in him.
