After saying that, Ling Er disappeared. Wang Niu was taken aback, looking at the gloomy scene around him, and he couldn't help but shiver. Just then, a strange sound came from behind him, causing his heart to skip a beat. He turned to look at the source of the noise and saw something peculiar emerging, which made his heart race. He hurriedly left the area, and as he did, that thing revealed its terrifying true form.
Wang Niu returned to his residence. As soon as he entered, he saw Old Li already sitting there.
Old Li's expression was very serious. "Where have you been?"
Wang Niu's heart sank; he didn't expect to feel a sense of guilt creeping in. He smiled at Old Li and said, "I was just out for a stroll."
As soon as he spoke, Old Li's expression grew even more menacing. He suddenly stood up and walked toward Wang Niu, his gaze sharp and cold. "Have you learned to lie now?"
Old Li's words made Wang Niu's heart race. Did Old Li know something?
He felt increasingly anxious.
"I—I didn't! I just went for a walk," he stammered, unable to meet Old Li's eyes. Old Li snorted coldly and left the room.
Old Li's sudden change in attitude left Wang Niu unsure of what to do.
He returned to his bed and was about to lie down when Old Li walked back in, his tone carrying an eerie undertone. "Come with me; I need to take you somewhere."
Wang Niu's heart raced with unease. Could it be that Old Li intended to kill him?
Despite his fears, Wang Niu followed Old Li out of the residence. He had expected Old Li would take him somewhere obscure, but to his surprise, they arrived at the Funeral Home. He paused for a moment, confused, and asked Old Li what they were doing here.
Old Li glared at him with curiosity. "Of course we're here to work; do you think we're here for fun?"
Wang Niu awkwardly smiled and nodded. "I see. So what are we doing here?"
Old Li shot him a glare and said, "You should know what I do by now."
Wang Niu was momentarily taken aback; he didn't quite understand Old Li's meaning but nodded nonetheless. Old Li looked at him and pushed open the door in front of them. "Come inside."
Wang Niu followed Old Li inside, and soon he saw the bodies laid out on the iron rack.
Wang Niu was taken aback; dealing with these corpses would indeed be a hassle. He glanced around and noticed that there were many more items scattered about.
"What is this?" Wang Niu asked Old Li, pointing at the objects.
Old Li looked over and explained, "Those are the materials for filling the bodies."
Wang Niu was momentarily stunned by his words. Surely Old Li wasn't suggesting that he fill the bodies himself?
To his surprise, Old Li's next statement was, "These three corpses just arrived today. You'll be the one to fill them."
Upon hearing this, Wang Niu froze, feeling lost. He stammered, "But I don't know how to do anything!"
Old Li looked at him calmly. "I can teach you. Just watch how I handle the first body, and then I'll leave the other two to you."
Wang Niu felt a bit frustrated. It wasn't as if he could learn everything in an instant. Was Old Li really trying to make things difficult for him?
However, he kept his thoughts to himself and silently accepted the situation. At that moment, Old Li moved the middle body aside and instructed him to stand by and assist.
Wang Niu glanced at the body, panic flashing in his eyes as he felt completely at a loss. But Old Li didn't hesitate; he picked up a tool from nearby and began stitching up the body with swift movements. In no time, it was transformed into a complete corpse.
"Alright, it's your turn now," Old Li said, handing him the tools.
Wang Niu was momentarily stunned, unsure of what to do. He had been watching Old Li intently, but the speed of his actions had made it hard for him to follow along.
"Master Old Li, I just—"
Before he could finish, Old Li snapped at him, "Are you saying you weren't paying attention?"
Startled by Old Li's reprimand, Wang Niu fell silent and quickly replied, "No, that's not it! I'll get it done right away!"
Old Li shot him a glare before leaving the place.
Now, Wang Niu was completely dumbfounded. What did Old Li mean by that? He just left him to handle everything on his own.
Wang Niu glanced behind him, and Old Li had truly walked away, which made his heart race even more.
He turned his gaze back to the corpse in front of him, then looked at the doorway again, taking a deep breath. Just moments ago, he really didn’t know how to proceed.
At that moment, a teasing voice reached Wang Niu’s ears. “Are you really this cowardly?”
Wang Niu froze upon hearing the voice. He instinctively turned around and saw Ling Er standing right in front of him.
“Ling Er, what are you doing here?” His excitement surged at the sight of her.
“I’m naturally here to help you.”
“You’re here to help me?” Wang Niu was somewhat surprised by Ling Er’s words.
Ling Er nodded and confirmed it. Just then, the corpse suddenly sat up, nearly scaring Wang Niu to death.
“You really have no guts,” Ling Er said disdainfully as she looked at Wang Niu.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Wang Niu quickly changed the subject. “You said you came to help me, so tell me how to do this.”
Ling Er looked at him seriously and said, “Since you asked, I’ll tell you. First, you need to prop the corpse up.”
Wang Niu’s eyes widened in disbelief. She wanted him to prop the corpse up? Wasn’t that asking for his life?
Seeing that he was frozen in place, Ling Er called out to him.
With a helpless expression on his face, Wang Niu finally followed Ling Er’s instructions and propped the corpse up.
"Then what?" He was truly scared inside.
But Ling'er stopped speaking, her gaze fixed on him, making Wang Niu feel uncomfortable under her stare. He forced a smile; if she didn't say anything soon, he might just drop the corpse he was holding.
"Ling'er, please tell me."
Seeing his almost tearful expression, Ling'er finally spoke up. "Do you see that big hole in the back of the corpse? What you need to do is fill that hole."
Wang Niu nodded as if he understood and replied, "Okay."
He turned the corpse over and laid it flat on the table. Once he had it positioned correctly, he set it aside and picked up some materials to fill the body.
As he inserted the items into the corpse, something unexpected happened—the body suddenly oozed a hissing black liquid that looked terrifying. At the same time, a foul odor emanated from it, nearly overwhelming him.
"Are you okay?" Ling'er couldn't help but laugh at his miserable expression.
Wang Niu shot her an annoyed look. Why did she have to be so heartless?
Suppressing his nausea, he asked Ling'er, "What’s going on? Why is there so much black blood?"
Ling'er glanced at the corpse and said, "That's normal. Hurry up! If the blood keeps coming out, it'll be a problem."
Wang Niu could only follow her instructions.
Unfortunately, no matter what he did, the blood kept flowing more and more. Feeling helpless, he watched as Ling'er shook her head. "You're really hopeless. Step aside; I'll handle this."
Wang Niu quickly moved aside as Ling'er flipped the corpse over and began filling in the hole from behind.
"See? Isn't this better?"
Wang Niu pouted; now it was time to give the corpse some makeup.
"Now it's your turn," she said.
Wang Niu could only recall the actions of Old Li from before, but what he didn't expect was that no matter what he did, he couldn't restore the corpse's appearance. At that moment, something strange happened—the temperature of the corpse inexplicably began to rise, leaving Wang Niu at a loss for what to do.
While he was in a daze, suddenly, the corpse opened its eyes and stared at him with an eerie gaze.
He was so frightened that the things in his hands fell to the ground.
"What are you afraid of? This is all a normal phenomenon; the corpse is just rejuvenating."
Wang Niu was taken aback; it was the first time he had heard this term.
"What are you talking about?"
"It's just that the corpse is pretending to come back to life."
"Ah, there's such a thing?"
As he spoke with Ling Er, the corpse in front of him suddenly jumped up and lunged at him. For a moment, he was completely stunned.
