The old man, who had been speaking with us, walked behind them, wearing an expression of helplessness. 0

"Ah, it's the old gentleman! Please, save us!" The men quickly knelt upon seeing him. 0

"Ah, it's not that I don't want to save you; it's that I can't. I told you long ago not to do such things, but you refused to listen and believed the words of that Evil Paper Man. Now the retribution has come, and no one can stop it." With that, the old man turned and left. 0

Upon hearing his words, despair washed over the faces of the men. 0

"What should we do? Are we really going to die here?" The leader of the men stood up. 0

"Why don't we escape?" someone suggested. 0

"We can't get away. Have you forgotten? Their ranks have been bleeding continuously, and there is blood on all the walls of our homes," another man replied. 0

"What are we supposed to do then? Are we just going to wait here to die?" 0

Feng Ju and I exchanged glances. 0

"Wang Jun, what do you think?" Feng Ju asked me. 0

"We can tell them now that we can help," I said to Feng Ju. 0

Upon hearing this, Feng Ju nodded and stepped forward to the men. They looked at Feng Ju with puzzled expressions. "Who are you?" 0

"I am here to save you. Don't you want to be saved?" Feng Ju said earnestly, but the men's faces showed skepticism. 0

"Are you really here to save us?" 0

"If you don't believe me, then just wait to die," Feng Ju said as he turned to leave. Perhaps it was his words that frightened them, for they quickly rushed forward and grabbed him. 0

"Master, don't go! We believe you!" they pleaded. 0

"Fine, then you must tell me what happened in this village," Feng Ju asked them. 0

Upon hearing this, hesitation appeared on their faces. Seeing this, Feng Ju sighed and said, "It seems you are unwilling to share with me. If that's the case, then I have no reason to save you. I can only hope you survive the wrath of those vengeful spirits." 0

The men's faces turned even paler at his words. "Master, what do you mean? Do you know something?" 0

Feng Ju nodded seriously. "I do know, but I need to understand the reason behind it all in order to save you." 0

After hearing his words, they no longer hesitated and began to speak. 0

Initially, there were no women in their village, but their lives were quite prosperous; every household was wealthy and lived comfortably. However, a place without women could not thrive. 0

So they went to another area to bring back women as wives. What they did not expect was that once they brought these women home, their lives underwent a drastic change. 0

Their days became increasingly difficult, and every household fell into poverty. 0

They found this very strange and could not understand what was happening. 0

They sought out a fortune teller for answers, and what he told them terrified them. The fortune teller revealed that the women had disrupted their feng shui. To return to their previous state, they would need to kill those women and restore peace to the village; only then would things return to normal. 0

But how could they bear to do such a thing? 0

They did not heed the fortune teller's advice. However, soon after, a horrifying event occurred: one man suddenly died tragically in his home. When the others heard the news, they rushed to his house, only to be nearly scared to death by the sight of his corpse. 0

It was at this moment that they recalled the words of the man from before. If they did not kill those women, the next to die would likely be them. 0

In order to protect their own lives, the men began to act selfishly, extending their hands toward their own wives and children. 0

Their wives pleaded with them in anguish not to do this, but it was as if they were blinded by demons, devoid of any compassion. Just like that, their wives and children died at their hands. 0

"How could this happen?" Feng Ju was deeply shaken by their words. 0

The men seemed to feel guilty as they lowered their heads. Feng Ju asked them, "After you killed your own wives and children, did your village return to its former state?" 0

"Yes, it was just as that man said. The village chief regained his calm, but this is not the end." 0

"What happened?" Feng Ju looked at them in confusion. 0

A trace of fear appeared on their faces, as if they recalled something terrifying. "After we killed those women, for some reason, the next day all the wells we drank from were filled with red blood." 0

"So your retribution has come," Feng Ju stated bluntly. 0

Upon hearing Feng Ju's words, the men fell silent; this was indeed their retribution. 0

"Take me to see," Feng Ju said as he walked ahead. 0

The men were momentarily stunned before they reacted and led Feng Ju into a house. The man who had screamed earlier pointed out a place to Feng Ju. 0

This was where they had served those women. 0

"Master, look, that is the tablet for my wife and child; it has now been broken in two." The man's voice trembled with fear; it was clear he understood what was happening. 0

"Yes," Feng Ju replied calmly, walking towards the broken tablet and picking it up. 0

"This tablet definitely has issues," Feng Ju said, holding up the remaining half of the tablet to the man. 0

Upon hearing this, the man's face turned pale as he exclaimed, "Does that mean they are coming to claim my life?" 0

Feng Ju's expression turned serious. "Yes, it should be because of the Ghost Festival." 0

The men present were stunned by Feng Ju's words. 0

"The Ghost Festival means that those deceased women will return, right?" one of them asked. 0

"That's right. So you all need to prepare well; otherwise, it will be your demise," Feng Ju warned, his eyes filled with intensity. 0

Not long after Feng Ju spoke, the tablet in front of him began to shake violently. 0

"Ah! They are coming!" someone shouted, causing the men to panic and flee as if they had gone mad. 0

I stepped forward, watching the still trembling tablet. "Do you have any thoughts on this?" 0

Feng Ju turned to me and said, "This tablet is indeed linked to those Evil Spirits, but part of it is also man-made." 0

"What do you mean?" I approached and picked up the remaining half of the tablet. 0

"Look, Wang Jun. The piece you have has red on it, while mine has black. The red part is made from human blood, and the black part carries the essence of these Evil Spirits," Feng Ju explained. 0

"In that case, it means someone is targeting this village," I said. 0

Feng Ju took the tablet from my hands and brought them together. To my surprise, the tablets connected seamlessly, and we saw a wisp of White Mist emanating from the combined tablet. In an instant, the White Mist transformed into a black arrow that shot out towards the outside of the house. 0

"Wang Jun, let's chase it," Feng Ju said to me. 0

I nodded and followed Feng Ju as we pursued the black arrow. It flew faster and faster, and I glanced around, noticing that it seemed to be heading toward a nearby village. Just as we were about to continue following the arrow, it suddenly came to a halt. 0

"Wang Jun, look!" Feng Ju exclaimed, pointing in a certain direction. 0

I turned to see that we had arrived at a bustling little town. 0

The arrow had stopped right in front of a fortune teller who was currently reading someone's fortune. 0

"Wang Jun, look at his feet," Feng Ju said as if she had discovered something. 0

I looked closer and saw that beneath the fortune teller's feet was an incense burner, with a strange doll stuck in it. 0

"That doll contains a Ghost Child. Look, that Ghost Child is absorbing that person's Yang Qi," she explained. 0

I furrowed my brow and summoned a bit of celestial energy, preparing to intervene when Feng Ju stopped me. "No, we can't act impulsively." 0
