"What's wrong? Just say it clearly," I said, looking at Xiaomin, who appeared anxious. Unable to hold back, I scolded her a bit.
Xiaomin seemed to realize her mistake and immediately apologized. She then said to me, "Heavenly Emperor, the War God’s Divine Dog is fighting with the Flower Spirit, and since this Divine Dog belongs to the War God, I can't intervene."
Upon hearing this, I frowned. If that was the case, things could get troublesome. I knew the War God well; he had a terrible temper and always wore a scowl.
While I was lost in thought, Ruoxi nudged me and asked, "Wang Jun, who are the Flower Spirit and the little fox you just mentioned?"
I turned to Ruoxi, intending to explain, but at that moment, Xiaomin pulled me aside and said, "Heavenly Emperor, you can explain to Queen of Heaven later. If you don't go now, those two will be in trouble."
Seeing Xiaomin's urgency, I dared not linger any longer and quickly followed her back to the heavens.
Xiaomin led me to the Celestial Abode, which she had arranged for the Flower Spirit and the little fox. As soon as we entered, we saw the Divine Dog attacking them.
"Stop!" I commanded.
As my voice echoed through the air, they all halted and looked at me. Angrily, I stepped between them and glared at the Divine Dog. "What do you think you're doing? Why are you attacking them?"
The Flower Spirit and the little fox were both brought up to the heavens by me. Naturally, I was displeased with the Divine Dog's actions. He should have known better; why was he attacking them?
"Heavenly Emperor, they are demons. Since they are demons, they naturally shouldn't be allowed to stay in heaven," the Divine Dog replied coldly.
I looked at the Divine Dog with a faint smile of disdain. How dare he disregard my authority? I immediately raised my hand, summoning wisps of Gas.
"Go," I commanded. The wisps of Gas flew toward the Divine Dog and bound him tightly.
The Divine Dog's expression changed instantly as he said to me, "Heavenly Emperor, what are you doing?"
"What am I doing? No need to report to you. Your actions are unacceptable. Don't think that just because you have the War God backing you up that you can act recklessly here. You should know who is in charge in heaven," I replied harshly.
I never expected that after being Heavenly Emperor for some time, there would still be those who defied me.
"Hmph! Naturally, my master is the best," the Divine Dog retorted defiantly.
"Fine. Since you insist that your master is superior, then there's no need for further discussion." As I spoke, the ropes binding the Divine Dog grew tighter.
"Heavenly Emperor, please show mercy!" A voice suddenly interjected.
I turned to see who it was—just as I had thought; the War God had been watching our confrontation nearby.
"Oh, so it's the War God," I said sarcastically.
The War God caught onto my tone and awkwardly chuckled. "Heavenly Emperor, it's my Divine Dog who lacks understanding and has spoken out of turn. I hope you can forgive him."
After saying that, the War God directly untied the ropes binding the Divine Dog in front of me. However, once he released it, the fallen ropes rewrapped themselves around the Divine Dog.
"Heavenly Emperor, what do you mean by this?" The War God looked at me with an unhappy expression.
"Naturally, I intend to punish him properly. As the War God, you should know what the Divine Dog has done and what you have done," I said, gazing deeply at the War God.
My words were already quite clear; if the War God still didn't understand, that would be quite surprising.
"I'm sorry, I don't know, Heavenly Emperor," to my surprise, the War God directly countered me.
"Oh really? Then you should take a good look at how I punish the Divine Dog." With that, I tightened the ropes around the Divine Dog.
In no time, a miserable expression appeared on the Divine Dog's face.
"Heavenly Emperor, how can you do this?" After saying that, a cloud of black mist appeared in the War God's hand and rushed towards me.
Seeing this, the little fox behind me immediately dashed forward and stood in front of me.
How could I let the little fox take the hit for me? If that black mist came through, it would surely spell death for the little fox at the hands of the War God.
I quickly stopped the little fox and eliminated the War God's black mist.
The War God’s expression stiffened and became quite awkward upon seeing this.
"I didn't expect Heavenly Emperor to possess such great power," he said with a hint of sarcasm in his tone.
I coldly laughed at the War God. "If you wish to oppose me, then come at me."
Upon hearing my words, the War God immediately revealed his true form and ceased to be polite with me.
He hovered in mid-air, brandishing the Heavenly Axe. With a swift motion, he swung it towards me, and I felt a tremendous wave of energy rushing in my direction.
"Be careful!" the Flower Spirit shouted from behind me.
My expression turned serious; this attack could endanger both the Flower Spirit and the little fox. Without hesitation, I drew a Protective Circle in the air, shielding myself, the Flower Spirit, and the little fox within it.
The light emitted by the War God did not harm us.
"Hmph, let's see how long you can hold out," the War God declared as he raised the Heavenly Axe once more to launch another assault.
I turned my Eyeball thoughtfully and devised a plan. I discreetly infused the Protective Circle with Divine Technique. When the War God's beam of light surged towards us again, it was absorbed by the shield.
The War God stared at me in disbelief. "This is impossible! How could this happen?"
I smiled lightly and replied, "Why is it impossible? Your arrogance and self-importance will naturally lead to your downfall."
It seemed he realized something, as he quickly sheathed his weapon and fled.
The little fox blinked in surprise and pointed toward the direction where the War God had vanished. "Master, aren't we going to chase him?"
I shook my head. "No need. The War God will be dealt with by others; our concern is this poor Divine Dog."
With that, everyone's gaze shifted to the Divine Dog.
The Divine Dog was now on the brink of collapse. Seeing its pitiful state, I loosened the ropes binding it and infused a bit of celestial energy into it.
Divine Dog regained his strength and stood up again, looking at me with a complex expression.
"Are you having second thoughts?" I asked Divine Dog.
He paused for a moment, then nodded at me, his eyes reflecting a hint of disappointment. I understood what Divine Dog was disappointed about.
"If you wish to continue following the War God, I can let you go," I said to Divine Dog.
Upon hearing my words, Divine Dog let out a bitter laugh and shook his head. "No need. The War God has already given up on me. I think it's unnecessary for me to continue following him."
Seeing Divine Dog's helpless demeanor, I felt a twinge of sympathy for him.
"So, what do you plan to do?" I asked Divine Dog.
After hesitating for a moment, he looked at me and said, "Heavenly Emperor, if you don't mind, I can serve you wholeheartedly."
Before I could respond, the little fox and Flower Spirit suddenly pulled me aside, looking at me cautiously. "Heavenly Emperor, you can't possibly believe him, can you?"
I glanced at Flower Spirit and then at the little fox before nodding. "What's wrong? Is there something wrong with this?"
Flower Spirit and the little fox exchanged exasperated looks and said, "Heavenly Emperor, if you take him in, what if he turns against you like that?"
I wasn't worried about what Flower Spirit and the little fox said. I walked back toward Divine Dog and asked, "Do you truly want to follow me?"
My tone was very serious. Upon hearing my question, Divine Dog immediately nodded and said, "Yes, I truly want to follow you."
I nodded in response. "Very well. Since you're serious about this, I'll accept you. However, can you make a divine contract?"
The Divine Dog naturally understood what the god's contract meant and did not hesitate to accept it immediately.
I nodded in satisfaction; with this contract, the Divine Dog would not betray me.
Once the matter was resolved, I instructed the Divine Dog to step down.
"Heavenly Emperor, I don't quite understand," the Flower Spirit asked me after the Divine Dog had left.
