I furrowed my brow at the thought of the little fox being tormented by the Evil Spirit. This couldn't go on like this.
"Feng Ju, quickly subdue the Evil Spirit," I said to Feng Ju.
Feng Ju noticed the little fox's predicament and acted immediately. In just a short while, the Evil Spirit was subdued, causing the little fox to fall to the ground, gasping for breath.
"Are you okay, little fox?" I asked, looking at her with concern.
The little fox shook her head, stood up, and with a defiant expression said to us, "I was just about to take care of that Evil Spirit myself! You two showed up and interrupted me; this should count as my achievement!"
Feng Ju and I exchanged bewildered glances. What kind of achievement was that?
Seeing that we were silent, the little fox grew anxious. "You’re not having second thoughts, are you?"
I smiled but remained silent. Feng Ju rolled her eyes at the little fox and walked out of the underworld. The little fox immediately followed Feng Ju, saying as she walked, "Why are you like this? I almost defeated the Evil Spirit; you came out to help me!"
Feng Ju stopped and seemed a bit irritated. "Alright, you've already been tested. You failed on your own; you can only blame yourself. Go back now."
The little fox's face fell at Feng Ju's words, looking as if she might cry. I stepped forward and gently patted her back. "Don't cry; it's alright. If she won't take you as a disciple, you still have me."
The little fox quickly stopped crying, wiped her tears, and looked at me with excitement. "Really? You really want to take me as your disciple?"
I nodded seriously but reminded her that we still needed to return to the demon realm because I hadn't forgotten my promise to White Snake.
"Great! From now on, I'll do whatever you ask!" The little fox exclaimed eagerly.
Since Feng Ju had other matters to attend to, I took the little fox back to the demon realm and headed towards Black River.
"Are we here to help White Snake break free from her confinement?" the little fox asked me.
I nodded; it was only natural. After all, White Snake had helped us before, and now we should fulfill our promise to her.
The little fox nodded and stepped in front of me, calling out towards the Black River, "White Snake, we have come!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, ripples began to form on the surface of the lake. White Snake was emerging.
Seizing the moment, I cast a spell on White Snake, separating her from Water Snake. Instantly, a cloud of black mist appeared in the air.
"What is that?" the little fox asked, puzzled.
I furrowed my brow and replied, "That is the tainted energy hidden within her."
Then we saw White Snake detach from her current form, returning to her original appearance as Flower Spirit.
"Thank you," Flower Spirit said with a look of deep gratitude.
I acknowledged her with a nod and was about to leave with the little fox when Flower Spirit suddenly called out to me, "Wait! I have something to tell you."
I paused and looked at Flower Spirit in confusion. "What is it?"
She appeared hesitant, unsure whether to speak.
"It's fine; just say it."
Seeing my encouragement, Flower Spirit stopped hesitating and said, "Can you take me with you?"
Her request surprised me. "Aren't you going to stay here?"
The Flower Spirit shook her head, a look of disappointment on her face as she said, "I don't want to anymore. You have been kind to me, and I can do anything for you."
The seriousness on the Flower Spirit's face caught my attention. After a moment of thought, I realized that there was still a position missing in the Former Heavenly Court. It wouldn't hurt to let the Flower Spirit take that seat.
"Alright, then come with me to the heavens. I'll make arrangements for you," I said to the Flower Spirit and the little fox.
Upon hearing my words, their mouths dropped open in surprise. "What? To the heavens?"
I feigned indifference at their astonished expressions. "What's wrong? Isn't this normal? Didn't you know I came from the heavens?"
"But this... this is just too surprising!" The little fox looked utterly shocked.
I sighed a bit helplessly. "So, does that mean you prefer staying in the Demon Realm?"
As soon as the little fox heard this, she quickly shook her head. "No, I want to go to the heavens with you! Besides, I've already become your little apprentice. How could a little apprentice leave their master?"
"Can you tell me your identity?" After a while, the Flower Spirit finally snapped back to reality.
"What if I said I'm the Heavenly Emperor? What would you two think?" I asked curiously, watching their reactions.
Upon hearing this, they were instantly dumbfounded. "What did you say? You're the Heavenly Emperor?"
Their mouths gaped wide open, clearly shocked by my statement.
"What's wrong? Don't you believe me?"
They immediately shook their heads and exchanged glances with each other, still looking incredulous.
Looking at them with a hint of helplessness, I decided it was best to just take them to the heavens.
With a swift motion of my hand, I transported them both to the heavens.
When they arrived at the Southern Heavenly Gate, they seemed completely frozen in place. I watched their dazed expressions and felt a bit frustrated; it was just the heavens, after all.
"Are you all right?" I asked them.
"Ah, Master, this place is so grand!" the little fox was the first to respond, quickly changing her tone.
Seeing the little fox's eager expression, I shook my head helplessly.
At that moment, Flower Spirit knelt down directly. "Thank you, Heavenly Emperor."
I was quite pleased with Flower Spirit's gesture and nodded at her. "You're welcome. Get up now. From this day forward, if you work hard for me, I won't treat you unfairly."
Flower Spirit nodded seriously in response, while the little fox, having overheard Flower Spirit's words, also knelt down beside her, looking as if she didn't know what to say.
I couldn't help but tease the little fox when I saw her silly expression. "Little fox, what's wrong with you?"
"I-I, Heavenly Emperor, I didn't mean to deceive you. I think being your disciple requires great skill, and I'm really not that good," the little fox cried out anxiously.
Her reaction left me somewhat bewildered. "So you mean you don't want to be my disciple anymore?"
"Ah, no! I do want to be one, but I feel unworthy," the little fox sobbed.
I felt a bit helpless and shook my head at her. "What does it matter if you're worthy or not? Just tell me if you want to do it or not."
The little fox nodded at me. Satisfied with her response, I pulled her up and said, "Since you want to be my disciple, I'll have someone teach you well. How does that sound?"
Upon hearing my words, the little fox froze for a moment before showing an extremely happy expression. "Really? That's wonderful! I will study hard and not let you down!"
I let out a sound and helped the little fox up, calling for Xiaomin.
When Xiaomin appeared, she respectfully greeted me. I nodded and said to her, "These two are in your care now. Make sure to take good care of them. One is the Flower God who manages all the flowers, and the other is my little apprentice."
Xiaomin paused for a moment, looking at the little fox with confusion. Her expression showed surprise as she said, "Heavenly Emperor, you mean this is your little apprentice?"
I nodded and looked at Xiaomin, confirming, "Yes, you must take good care of her, understand?"
Xiaomin seemed to have more to say but nodded and took them away.
After resolving the matters in the Demon Realm, I sighed in relief. At that moment, Taishang Laojun appeared again. As soon as he showed up, I knew it couldn't be good news.
"Heavenly Emperor," Taishang Laojun said with a hint of urgency in his tone. This only confirmed my suspicion that he had another issue for me to address.
"What is it?" I replied, a bit irritated. Just as I finished one matter, another one was already upon me.
"Heavenly Emperor, this is something brought from the Demon Realm," he said, and then he transformed into a basket of fruits. The fruits looked quite intriguing.
"What kind of fruit is this?" I asked, puzzled as I looked at what Taishang Laojun was holding.
Taishang Laojun smiled and raised an eyebrow. "Heavenly Emperor, this is Ice Spirit Fruit. Eating it can enhance beauty and nourish the skin."
I took the fruit from him, assuming it was sent by the new Demon Lord.
"Alright," I said as I took the item and prepared to leave.
Taishang Laojun seemed taken aback for a moment, looking somewhat lost as he said, "Heavenly Emperor, I still have something to discuss with you regarding..."
I immediately used Divine Power to seal Taishang Laojun's mouth.
Holding the fruit in my hand, I descended to the mortal realm, arriving at Li Manor where Ruoxi was.
Some time had passed, and I wondered how the Imperial Child and Celestial Child were getting along. When I first arrived, I saw Ruoxi training the two of them.
Upon seeing me, Ruoxi's face lit up with excitement.
"What brings you here, Wang Jun?" Ruoxi exclaimed joyfully as she rushed towards me. I embraced her tightly and, feeling a pang of affection, kissed her forehead. "I've finished handling things and came to see you. I've missed you a bit."
Hearing my words, Ruoxi smiled sweetly. "Really? I've missed you too! By the way, let me update you on the recent situation with the Imperial Child and Celestial Child."
I nodded at Ruoxi and handed her the items I was holding.
