"Have you found out who did it?" Feng Ju asked me.
I turned to look at Feng Ju and replied, "Not yet, but don't worry, I will find out."
Feng Ju nodded, noticing my tired expression. "Wang Jun, what's wrong? Have you encountered something?"
I shook my head and said it was nothing, though I felt a heavy burden in my heart.
Feng Ju seemed to sense something and didn't press further. After exchanging a few words, she left.
I sighed as I watched Feng Ju's retreating figure. Even though being the Heavenly Emperor granted me immense power, I felt helpless regarding my mother's situation.
I took out the Energy Orb and examined it when Azure Grain appeared at the door. I quickly put the Energy Orb away.
"Heavenly Emperor, what were you looking at just now?" Azure Grain asked curiously.
I shook my head and inquired if there was something she needed.
Azure Grain seemed to remember something and smiled. "Heavenly Emperor, I've come to take you somewhere. I've spent quite a bit of time preparing for this."
I was taken aback, confused as I looked at Azure Grain. "What is it?"
Azure Grain laughed and said, "Heavenly Emperor, you'll find out if you come with me."
With that, Azure Grain took my hand and said, "Heavenly Emperor, please follow me."
Though I felt puzzled, I followed Azure Grain outside. For some reason, I had a premonition that perhaps I could learn something from her about these matters.
At that moment, I felt something moving in my embrace. When I looked down, I was surprised to see the Energy Orb nestled against me.
In the next second, the Energy Orb turned red.
I was instantly astonished. What was happening?
Could it be that Azure Grain belonged to the Previous Empress? Just then, Azure Grain turned to look at me and said, "Heavenly Emperor, you're here, looking rather unkind."
I shook my head, a thought forming in my mind. I pretended to be casual and asked Azure Grain, "Do you know about the Previous Empress?"
As soon as I spoke, Azure Grain paused and replied, "Heavenly Emperor, why do you suddenly ask about the Previous Empress? Is there something going on?"
Azure Grain's expression became very cautious. I took this as a cue and said, "It's nothing serious; I'm just curious."
Azure Grain gave me a deep look and after a moment said, "Heavenly Emperor, actually, the Previous Empress is a very good person. If you got to know her, you would surely be touched by her many admirable qualities."
There was a strange light in Azure Grain's eyes. I couldn't help but snort inwardly; if I ever encountered the Queen, I would definitely kill her. I had not forgotten the suffering my mother endured at her hands.
"Heavenly Emperor, what's wrong?" Azure Grain asked when she saw me silent.
I quickly snapped back to reality and said, "It's nothing. I was just thinking that with someone as wonderful as the Previous Empress, many people must be concerned about her."
In truth, I was trying to lure Azure Grain into revealing more information.
Sure enough, in the next second after hearing my words, Azure Grain immediately responded, "Yes, Heavenly Emperor, many people are indeed concerned about the Previous Empress."
My heart skipped a beat; it seemed that what my mother and Jinlan had said was true.
"Is that so?" I looked at Azure Grain.
Azure Grain had originally intended to say something more, but suddenly stopped, as if struck by a thought. "Heavenly Emperor, let's go. We're almost there," she said.
I took note of Azure Grain's recent actions and responded with a simple "Mm," following closely behind her.
Azure Grain led me to a beautifully decorated place.
Looking around, I asked, "Azure Grain, did you prepare this for me?"
She turned to me, a hint of shyness in her smile. "Yes, this is for you, Heavenly Emperor."
A plan began to form in my mind. "It seems that Azure Grain really has developed feelings for me."
Azure Grain paused for a moment, perhaps surprised by my words, then nodded and said, "Yes, I like you, Heavenly Emperor. I hope you can give me a chance."
I replied lightly with an "Mm," and Azure Grain seemed excited as she asked, "Does that mean the Heavenly Emperor has agreed?"
"Yes. Since you like me, why shouldn't I give you a chance? However, I can only offer you the position of Consort Tian. Would you be willing?" I said to Azure Grain.
"Really? I would love to be your Consort Tian!" she exclaimed as she lunged toward me.
I instinctively stiffened at her sudden movement; it felt uncomfortable, especially considering that Azure Grain was still under the Queen's authority.
"Heavenly Emperor, when will I be able to become your Consort Tian?" Azure Grain asked eagerly.
"So when do you want to become my Consort Tian?" I asked with a smile, though I was already on guard against Azure Grain.
"Right now would be best—if only it could happen immediately."
I looked at the smile on Azure Grain's face, and my anger grew even stronger. I said to her, "How about this? In a few days, what do you think?"
"Alright then, Heavenly Emperor. What do I need to prepare?" Azure Grain replied.
I extended my hand, pretending to be indulgent, and said, "You don't need to do anything; just leave it to me."
Hearing my words, Azure Grain looked very pleased and nodded at me. "Okay! By the way, Heavenly Emperor, I have something to give you."
"What is it?"
Azure Grain released me and walked over to a spot. She placed her hand against the wall, and suddenly, a door appeared right next to her.
Turning around, Azure Grain said to me, "Heavenly Emperor, please wait for me."
With that, she stepped inside. I squinted at the closed door, surprised that there was such a secret here.
After a while, Azure Grain emerged with a Small Wooden Box. She handed it to me and said, "Heavenly Emperor, this is for you. This is something I've made since I was little; it's meant for the Ruler I would give it to. Now that you have become my Ruler, it is only natural that I present this to you."
I took the Small Wooden Box from Azure Grain and opened it to find countless beads inside.
Confused, I looked at the beads in the Wooden Box and asked Azure Grain what they were.
Azure Grain looked at me seriously and said, "Heavenly Emperor, these are my hard work. Every once in a while, I take my efforts and put them into these beads. They are very important to me, so I give them to you with all my hopes. I hope you will cherish them."
Her words stirred something deep within me.
"Yes, I will," I replied to Azure Grain.
Seeing my agreement made her very happy. She then said to me, "Then Heavenly Emperor, you should hurry back and rest."
I didn't linger and left this place, only to return again. However, I concealed my presence; no one would know I was here except for me. The reason I did this was to investigate the descendants of the Previous Empress.
Because of the Energy Orb, I grew suspicious of Azure Grain. Now, I needed to find out if those hidden individuals were all in a place I didn't know about. Thus, I returned to follow Azure Grain.
Azure Grain emerged from within, her face radiating a hint of joy. Although I knew this was unfair to her, the anger in my heart couldn't be quelled when I thought of the suffering my mother endured at the hands of the Previous Empress. Just as my mother said, those associated with the Previous Empress could not be allowed to remain.
It seemed that Azure Grain was headed somewhere, so I trailed behind her. She descended to the mortal realm and arrived at a desolate-looking area.
Azure Grain was very alert, glancing around as if afraid someone was following her.
After confirming there was no one around, she opened a barrier in front of her.
Had I not witnessed Azure Grain open the barrier with my own eyes, I would have never known that there was a hidden space here. She stepped inside, and instead of following immediately, I waited outside for a moment. At that moment, it seemed the barrier was about to close, so I quickly took advantage of the gap and flew in.
Once inside, I realized this place was a manor.
At that moment, Azure Grain had vanished without a trace. I had no choice but to cautiously survey my surroundings and wandered aimlessly. Suddenly, I noticed a relatively concealed spot; my instincts told me that something must be hidden there. Without hesitation, I walked straight over.
