"Yin Li?" The woman looked puzzled for a moment before saying, "I don't know anyone named Yin Li. The reason I know you have returned is because the Heavenly Book told me so; it wasn't me who brought her here to find you. I am Jinlan, a maidservant by your mother's side."
"Are there any others here?" I asked Jinlan.
Jinlan shook her head and said, "There is only me here."
This only deepened my confusion; if there was no one else here, then what was Yin Li doing?
"What’s wrong?" Jinlan asked with concern upon seeing my serious expression.
"Auntie, do you know about the Dark Abyss?" I said to Jinlan.
"What about the Dark Abyss?" Jinlan's expression grew very agitated.
I sensed that Jinlan knew something and explained everything to her. After listening, her face fell as she said, "It's possible that the person you've been searching for is a remnant of the Previous Empress and that person named Yin Li might also be one of them."
As soon as I heard that, it felt like something had suddenly shifted within me.
"Auntie, do you know who was connected to the Previous Empress?"
Jinlan shook her head. "So many years have passed; some people might have changed their faces by now. Wait a moment, I remember something. This is something your mother left for you."
With that, Jinlan turned and walked to a spot, retrieving an object and placing it in front of me.
"What is this?" I asked, looking at the glowing stone.
However, I knew this was no ordinary stone.
"This is your mother's Energy Stone. She asked me to give it to you. After your mother was killed by the Queen, I secretly took you away from the heavens and threw you into the Cycle of Reincarnation. I found a Dead Infant to deceive the Queen so that you could be safe. You must keep this Energy Stone well; it is a gift from your mother. When you encounter something you cannot handle, you can open it," Jinlan explained.
I nodded and carefully stored the Energy Stone away.
"Aunt, thank you for all your hard work over the years," I sighed, feeling a deep sense of guilt for my mother's suffering.
"It's no trouble; it's what I should do. Your mother was very kind to us servants when she was here," Jinlan replied.
"Auntie, I want to take you with us. I don't know if you'd be willing to come along."
Jinlan's loyalty to my mother touched my heart deeply.
"Never mind; I'm used to being here with your mother. It's kind of you to offer. If you ever miss me, just come back here to see me, and I'll be satisfied," Jinlan said.
Seeing her response, I didn't press further and walked outside. Old Five anxiously asked when he saw me emerge, "Heavenly Emperor, are you alright?"
I shook my head; my entire face bore a heavy expression.
What Jinlan had told me added another layer of guilt regarding my mother's fate.
"Your Majesty, what is wrong?"
I shook my head and said, "You all go ahead; I want to take a walk alone."
"Understood," Old Five and the Celestial Maiden left the area.
Soon after, I found a quiet spot and took out the Energy Stone that Jinlan had given me.
A flash of green light suddenly flickered across the Energy Stone, catching me off guard. After a moment, I felt the Energy Stone in my hand lift unexpectedly, transforming into a beam of light that stood before me.
"Child," a voice suddenly emanated from the light.
Then, I saw a woman appear before me. I was stunned; this woman was the same one I had seen on the altar. Could she be my mother?
I looked at her with excitement as she smiled and said, "I finally get to see you."
