"Do you know where this place is?" I asked Old Five while pointing at the screen.
Old Five looked around as if searching for something, then said, "Isn't this the Dark Abyss?"
I was taken aback by Old Five's words and replied, "How do you know about this place?"
Old Five smiled sheepishly, scratching his head. "I heard about it before because I was worried that Heavenly Emperor might ask about it."
I narrowed my eyes, sensing something was off; this was too unusual.
The Dark Abyss was a place known only to a few beyond the celestial beings. Could it be that Old Five had been asking other celestial beings?
"Old Five, tell me honestly, who told you about this?" My tone grew serious.
Old Five paused for a moment, looking somewhat flustered. "What's wrong, Heavenly Emperor? Did something happen? Is this not allowed?"
I shook my head and said to Old Five, "It's possible that the person you asked isn't trustworthy, so we need to investigate."
Old Five seemed to grasp the gravity of the situation and said, "Heavenly Emperor, I was inquiring with a Celestial Maiden from Herbal Kitchen."
"A Celestial Maiden?" My heart filled with more questions. How could a mere Celestial Maiden know such things?
I immediately rushed with Old Five to Herbal Kitchen, which was bustling with activity at that moment.
"Come here," I called to the nearest Celestial Maiden.
This Celestial Maiden, an official from Herbal Kitchen, froze upon seeing me, then quickly bowed with a respectful expression. "Greetings, Heavenly Emperor."
I acknowledged her with a nod and instructed her to gather all the Celestial Maidens from Herbal Kitchen.
She promptly went to carry out my request. In no time, all the Celestial Maidens had gathered before me and Old Five.
"Take a look and see which Celestial Maiden told you," I said to Old Five.
Old Five nodded seriously, observing the Celestial Maidens. I was also watching them closely.
I noticed a hint of tension on their faces; perhaps our actions had caused them to feel panic.
Old Five scrutinized the scene several times, but still appeared to find nothing. I grew anxious and urged Old Five, "You must look carefully."
Old Five seemed to be in a hurry as well, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. Clearly, he was under pressure too.
"Heavenly Emperor," Old Five approached me with a troubled expression and whispered, "Heavenly Emperor, there is no one here that we are looking for."
"Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?" I asked Old Five.
With utmost seriousness, Old Five replied, "Heavenly Emperor, rest assured, I did not make a mistake. There is indeed no Celestial Maiden here as previously mentioned."
I turned to the Celestial Maidens standing before us and asked another one, "Are all the people from the Herbal Kitchen here?"
The Celestial Maiden nodded and said, "Yes, but wait, it seems like one is missing."
After saying that, she turned to ask another Celestial Maiden, "Is Yin Li not here at the Herbal Kitchen?"
The other Celestial Maiden confirmed, "Yes."
Upon hearing this, I sensed something was amiss and instructed the first Celestial Maiden, "Take us to where she lives immediately."
We followed the Celestial Maiden to Yin Li's residence. The moment we opened the door, a cloud of black mist surged out from inside the house, startling everyone.
"Be careful!" I shouted loudly and then dispelled the black mist.
"This is Evil Energy!" exclaimed the Celestial Maiden with an excited tone, her face showing signs of fear.
"Yes, who is this Yin Li?" I asked sternly.
The Celestial Maiden was startled by my question and replied, "Heavenly Emperor, this Celestial Maiden was originally from Glamorous Palace. We brought her to Herbal Kitchen because we felt sorry for her."
As I spoke with the Celestial Maiden, my gaze fell upon the large bed in the room, where it seemed someone was lying.
I cautiously approached, and when I got a clear look at the person on the bed, a flash of ruthlessness crossed my eyes.
"Ah, that is Yin Li!" the Celestial Maiden exclaimed as she came over, her face showing signs of fear upon seeing the scene.
I glanced at the Celestial Maiden lightly, but I could understand her feelings; after all, what lay on the bed was a very terrifying corpse, swollen and unrecognizable.
"What happened? How did she end up like this?" I asked the Celestial Maiden.
The Celestial Maiden paused for a moment, shaking her head. "In response to the Heavenly Emperor, I don't know. Yin Li has a strange personality and rarely communicates with us."
I looked at the corpse on the bed and waved my hand casually, incinerating it. The Celestial Maiden cast me a complicated glance and said, "Heavenly Emperor, did Yin Li do something wrong?"
"It's not that she did something wrong; there are some matters I need to clarify with her," I replied calmly.
The Celestial Maiden seemed to ponder for a moment before suddenly recalling something. "Heavenly Emperor, I just remembered something."
"What is it?" A glimmer of hope ignited in my heart.
"It’s like this: I once saw Yin Li go to the Cold Palace," the Celestial Maiden said.
"The Cold Palace?" I was somewhat surprised.
The Celestial Maiden nodded and continued, "Yes, in the most remote part of the heavenly realm lies the Cold Palace, created by the Previous Empress. The former Heavenly Emperor was quite lecherous and summoned many Consort Tian. The Previous Empress couldn't stand these Consort Tian and used various means to send them to the Cold Palace. I've heard it's a very terrifying place."
"What did Yin Li go to the Cold Palace for?" I asked, looking at the Celestial Maiden with confusion.
The Celestial Maiden shook her head but suddenly remembered something. "Oh right, I recall that there is still a Consort Tian living in the Cold Palace."
"What are you saying? How many people know about this and why hasn't anyone reported it?" I said angrily.
The Celestial Maiden was startled by my tone and said, "Heavenly Emperor, I-I didn't mean to. I hope you won't be angry."
I took a deep breath and said, "Take me there right now."
"Okay."
We followed the Celestial Maiden back to the Cold Palace.
Once we arrived at the Cold Palace, I realized how vast it was, though it felt quite remote. If I hadn't known this place existed, I would have never found it.
I recalled what the Celestial Maiden had said earlier. Could it be that everything was orchestrated by Consort Tian within the Cold Palace?
"Heavenly Emperor, it's right inside," the Celestial Maiden pointed to the large door in front of us.
"Heavenly Emperor, should we go in? It might be dangerous here," Old Five said.
I was well aware of the dangers inside, but if this matter wasn't handled properly, it could lead to even greater risks in the future—risks that could last indefinitely.
"It's fine."
I pushed open the large door, and a loud creaking sound echoed in our ears. Immediately, a chilling aura rushed toward us. In addition to that, I sensed a strange energy that seemed similar to Evil Energy.
"Heavenly Emperor, it seems like there's something else," Old Five also sensed it.
I nodded in acknowledgment and stepped inside. The mist within the Cold Palace was thick, enveloping everything in a white haze.
"Heavenly Emperor, look over there; it seems like someone is standing," Old Five exclaimed excitedly as he pointed.
I looked over and indeed saw a figure standing amidst the mist. I quickly dispelled some of the fog and saw a woman standing before us, gazing at us.
"Who are you?" I called out to her.
The woman gave us a cold smile and vanished in an instant.
"Heavenly Emperor," Old Five called out to me nervously.
"Don't worry," I replied, and then I set up a barrier in the Cold Palace to prevent anyone inside from escaping.
Following the woman's aura, I arrived at a desolate palace.
I pushed open the grand doors and saw that strands of Bai Ling floated everywhere inside.
It looked somewhat eerie.
"Heavenly Emperor, look, it's that woman," Old Five pointed out to me.
I turned my gaze and saw the woman hanging on the Bai Ling, her eyes wide open, devoid of any expression. As I stepped inside, Old Five blocked my path and said, "Heavenly Emperor, be careful."
I reassured Old Five that it was fine and continued to walk in when suddenly the door behind me slammed shut.
"Heavenly Emperor, watch out!" Old Five warned from behind me.
At that moment, the woman hanging on the Bai Ling slowly descended and walked toward me step by step. I felt no fear as her lips curled into a slight smile when she reached me and stopped. "You finally came."
I looked at her in confusion. Could it be that she orchestrated all of this to lure me here?
"What do you mean by that?" I asked her, puzzled.
"Do you know how long I've been waiting for you here?" The woman seemed to ignore my question and spoke to herself.
"What are you talking about?"
Suddenly, she let out a bitter laugh. "Ah, my poor sister died such a tragic death."
"You."
The woman turned around, her expression strange as she said, "Follow me, and you'll find out."
With that, she walked deeper inside. I hesitated for a moment but then followed her in. At that moment, a wall in front of her opened automatically.
"What is this place?" After entering, I realized it seemed to be a tomb. But how could there be such a place in the Cold Palace?
"Do you know where this is?" the woman asked.
I shook my head. She led me to a ritual area filled with various strange objects and patterns.
My gaze fell upon a pedestal in the center, and at that moment, the woman's eyes turned to me as she asked, "Do you know what this place is?"
I shook my head again. The woman walked over to the side where some incense was placed. She lit the incense and inserted it into a holder. Then she called me over. As I approached, I noticed a photograph of a woman on the pedestal. She was extraordinarily beautiful, and her expression conveyed a sense of gentleness.
Curiosity got the better of me. "Who is she?"
"Do you know? She is your mother," the woman said earnestly.
