We had already flown beyond the scope of the Spirit Martial Conference, which eased my heart considerably.
"Look, that's the Bird Tribe's Graveyard," Dumeng Princess said.
I glanced at the place Dumeng Princess was pointing to and felt a chill; it was an Ice Field. I wondered if Dumeng Princess had made a mistake.
"Are you sure this is the right place?" I asked her.
Dumeng Princess replied, "Yes, it is. You'll see soon enough."
Seeing the mysterious look on Dumeng Princess's face, I decided not to press further as our flying beast landed on the Ice Field.
We descended onto the Ice Field, and I looked around, frowning at the lack of anything unusual. There wasn't even a single grave in sight, which puzzled me greatly.
"There’s nothing here," I said, staring at the vast expanse of white, feeling somewhat frustrated.
"Are you sure there's nothing here?" Dumeng Princess asked with a smile.
I hesitated and looked around again, affirming my earlier statement. Suddenly, Dumeng Princess stepped forward and waved her hand. Before us appeared a swirling mass of white mist.
"What is this?" I asked in confusion.
Dumeng Princess remained silent as the white mist slowly dissipated, revealing a ground covered with graves. We were no longer on an Ice Field; we were in a graveyard.
I was taken aback; it had just been an Ice Field—how had it transformed into a graveyard?
Dumeng Princess turned to me and explained, "This is the Bird Tribe's illusion. I mentioned before that the Bird Tribe is very cunning. If our people didn't know this secret, finding the Bird Tribe's Graveyard would be quite difficult."
I nodded and carefully examined the surrounding graves. The Graveyard of Shadows was certainly different. As I looked around, I noticed that all the graves were quite similar and appeared particularly shabby. If this was indeed a graveyard, it should have been more grandiose.
After walking around for a while and finding nothing special about any of the graves, doubt crept into my mind—was the Graveyard of Shadows really so ordinary?
"Wait, I think I've discovered something," Dumeng Princess said.
I looked over at the Dumeng Princess, who stood in the center, seemingly gazing at something.
"What did you find?" I asked anxiously.
The Dumeng Princess pointed at the surrounding graves and said, "Take a good look at what’s wrong with these graves."
I pondered for a moment and carefully examined the graves. At first, I didn’t notice anything unusual, but after staring for a while, I realized that the graves formed a pattern.
My eyes widened in surprise. Although the graves appeared scattered, upon closer inspection, I discovered they were interconnected. Each grave was linked to another, and among these connected graves, one stood at the center, as if many graves were surrounding it.
"Something's not right; it must be this grave." I walked over to a grave on my left.
The Dumeng Princess approached and nodded. "You're right; it's the Graveyard of Shadows. Look closely."
As she spoke, the Dumeng Princess directed a beam of light towards the grave. When the light struck the grave, it suddenly erupted with immense power, knocking both me and the Dumeng Princess back.
In an instant, we felt a powerful wind swirling toward us. The Dumeng Princess was startled and quickly lifted me away.
"Are you okay?" she asked with concern.
I shook my head and turned my gaze forward, only to find that everything around us had changed again.
The various graves had vanished, replaced by a massive tomb.
"Look, could this be the Graveyard of Shadows?" I pointed at the tomb in front of us and asked the Dumeng Princess.
She focused her gaze on the tomb, a flicker of surprise crossing her face before quickly disappearing. She stepped forward, intending to examine the name on the tombstone when I pulled her back.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed? What if there's danger?" I said somewhat angrily; after all, her earlier actions had been quite reckless.
"Dumeng Princess" teased, looking at me with a grin, "You don't mean to say you've developed feelings for me, do you?"
I quickly shook my head and replied, "Don't get the wrong idea. Didn't I tell you before? I have a wife. I'm just worried about you. After all, the 'Beast King' gave me a 'Yin Pearl.' I at least need to honor that 'Yin Pearl,' right?"
A flicker of disappointment crossed "Dumeng Princess's" face, and her tone shifted as she said, "If it weren't for my father giving you this 'Yin Pearl,' would you still care about me?"
I was taken aback; something about "Dumeng Princess" seemed off at that moment.
Seeing me continue to stare at her, "Dumeng Princess" became a bit shy, and we both instinctively avoided discussing the topic further.
"Look, this is 'The Graveyard of Shadows,'" she said, pointing to the large cemetery in front of us.
I glanced over and saw that the gravestones were carved with a very large bird, and atop its head was a crown reminiscent of those worn by ancient women.
"Yes, this is indeed 'The Graveyard of Shadows,' but we can't let our guard down. What if there are some formations around this cemetery?" I said with concern.
"Dumeng Princess" chuckled lightly and said, "What formations could there possibly be here? Come on, let's dig up the corpse. You're the only one interested in the 'Yin Pearl.' In our world, many people aren't interested in corpses; spiritual energy is the most enticing temptation."
I felt my face flush instantly. "Dumeng Princess" didn't continue to tease me and walked straight to the back of the grave to start digging.
With spiritual energy at our disposal, we didn't have to exert much effort. Before long, we uncovered a white coffin.
"Wait a moment," "Dumeng Princess" was about to open the grave when I immediately stopped her because I noticed 'Yin Qi' emanating from the coffin.
"What is it?" "Dumeng Princess" looked at me in confusion.
I pointed at the strong 'Yin Qi' radiating from the coffin and said to her, "Look, there's a significant amount of 'Yin Qi' on this coffin. It's possible that whatever's inside could be dangerous. Although there doesn't seem to be any formations around here, we can't rule out the potential danger from what's inside."
"Dumeng Princess" paused and looked at me curiously. "Are you sure? Because I don't see anything."
I nodded; this Yin Qi was definitely something the Dumeng Princess could not see.
"What should we do?" the Dumeng Princess asked me.
I thought for a moment and looked up at the moonlight. It was bright, but I absolutely could not let the Yin Qi absorb any of it. If it did, something terrible would surely happen.
"Can you turn the moonlight into sunlight?" I asked the Dumeng Princess.
She paused for a moment before replying, "No, only the Wind Tribe can do that."
I felt a bit disappointed. The moonlight shared the same properties as Yin Qi. If they were similar and the Yin Qi absorbed the moonlight, it would definitely grow stronger, and who knows, it might even revive.
Seeing my worried expression, the Dumeng Princess asked what was wrong.
"This might be a bit difficult to handle," I admitted.
The Dumeng Princess fell silent. I glanced at the moonlight above and quickly brainstormed for a solution.
"I know! Duchess, can you lend me some spiritual power?" I said.
The Dumeng Princess suddenly looked up at me, nodded, and immediately placed her hand on my back to transfer her spiritual energy.
In just a moment, I felt a strong force within my body, as if all the hidden Divine Power was being unearthed. I quickly extended my hand toward the moon. At the peak of my Divine Power, I harnessed the spiritual energy that the Dumeng Princess had just given me to unleash all of my hidden Divine Power.
In an instant, a tremendous surge of Divine Power shot from my fingertips into the moonlight above. Immediately, a powerful Yang Qi surged down directly onto the coffin in front of us.
Before long, I saw that the Yin Qi on the coffin had vanished. My heart leaped with joy, but then both the Dumeng Princess and I noticed that something inside the coffin was shaking violently.
We exchanged worried glances; could something unusual be happening inside?
At that moment, thick black smoke began to rise from the coffin, growing denser by the second.
"Is something going to happen?" Dumeng Princess asked, her face showing signs of unease.
I felt a flutter of anxiety in my heart. After hesitating for a moment, I walked over to the coffin and, gathering my courage, pushed the lid open.
Inside, I saw nothing but a skeleton, and resting in the mouth of the skeleton was a transparent pearl. In the center of the pearl was an engraving of a bird.
"This is the Yin Pearl!" Dumeng Princess exclaimed with joy.
My eyes lit up. I had thought every Yin Pearl was the same, but it turned out they were all unique.
I quickly retrieved the Yin Pearl from the skeleton's mouth. As I held it in front of me, my excitement grew; I was getting closer to Ruoxi.
"Be careful!" Suddenly, a powerful surge of spiritual energy rushed toward me, and Dumeng Princess yanked me back just in time.
Before I could react to what was happening, the coffin exploded.
"Oh no! It must have been when we touched something earlier that revived the Yinhou," Dumeng Princess said, her voice filled with concern.
I froze for a moment, my face turning pale. Before I could speak, a woman emerged from the swirling white mist.
She was beautiful, but the sinister expression on her face sent chills down my spine. If I wasn't mistaken, this woman was the Yinhou.
"You have such audacity to disturb my rest," the Yinhou glared at us with fury.
Dumeng Princess and I exchanged glances and immediately prepared to confront her.
We had underestimated her; the Yinhou's power was immense. Before we could get close, her energy enveloped us, rendering both Dumeng Princess and me powerless.
"You truly overestimate yourselves," came the cold voice from the figure in the shadows.
"You ruthless one, if others from our clan knew you were buried here, they would unite to kill you, leaving not even a bone behind," Dumeng Princess said.
"Boldness! A mere beast clan girl dares to speak to me like that? You want me to leave no remains, do you? Then I shall ensure you are shattered into pieces in this world, with no chance to become a ghost," the shadowy figure replied, conjuring a ball of black fire in their hand.
My heart sank. I understood all too well what that black fire signified. Although I had just used the Divine Power within me to replace the moonlight, transforming it into dense Yang Qi and siphoning off the Yin Qi from the figure, I knew not how long they had been buried in this coffin or how much grave energy surrounded them. The Yin energy they possessed was certainly beyond our reach.
"Let her go; I will make you shatter into pieces," I declared, stepping in front of Dumeng Princess.
I am a man; no matter what, I cannot allow any woman to die because of me.
If A Yao was an accident, then I would not let this accident continue to happen.
"What are you saying? Who told you to die for me? Who are you to me? Step aside! It's just a shadowy figure; I can handle it," Dumeng Princess initially froze before pushing me away.
"Heh heh, you two really are dramatic. I have no intention of letting you go; you both will pay," the shadowy figure said, extending another hand, revealing yet another ball of black fire.
I found myself controlled and suspended in mid-air, while Dumeng Princess panicked and urged, "You need to run!"
I felt helpless; I couldn't move at all. My body was completely restrained by Dumeng Princess.
