The man known as Second Brother glanced to the left, where Luanling hurried over to help me up, concern filling his eyes.
"Are you okay?" Luanling asked anxiously.
I shook my head, and Luanling's face brightened. Just as he was about to say something to me, the man in white and the Blue-Clad Man strode over, pulling Luanling aside to whisper. They occasionally glanced in my direction.
Even without hearing their words, I could sense what they were discussing.
A wave of unease washed over me. If they decided to attack, I had no means of defending myself. As time passed and their discussion continued, my anxiety grew.
I looked over and caught Luanling's gaze. Our eyes met, and I noticed a complex expression in his eyes.
My heart sank. Surely Luanling wouldn’t be swayed by those two men?
I prepared to slip away quietly, but just then, Luanling approached and grabbed my arm. "Where are you going?"
I whimpered a few times, indicating that I wanted to leave.
Luanling looked at me, his emotions becoming increasingly complicated, yet he still held onto my hand tightly.
"Luanling, what are you doing? Why won’t you let him go? Have you forgotten what we just told you? What if he’s from the Other Race?" The man in green rushed over, urgency etched on his face as he spoke to Luanling.
"Yes, Luanling, let him leave the Bird Tribe. He might bring disaster upon us," the White-Clad Man said, casting a complicated glance my way before turning back to Luanling.
"Brother, Second Brother, it’s not like that at all. Father has already agreed to let me keep him here," Luanling said defiantly, glaring at the two men before him.
The Blue-Clad Man's eyes widened in surprise, seemingly unable to believe what he heard. "What did you say? Father has agreed to let him stay with us?"
"Yes, Father," Luanling was about to speak when a middle-aged man stepped out from within. He appeared quite imposing, exuding an air of nobility. Could this be the father that Luanling mentioned?
As soon as they saw the man emerge, they immediately surrounded him, their eyes filled with deep admiration. However, the man did not look at them; instead, his gaze was fixed on me.
"Come here," he beckoned to me, and all their attention shifted entirely to my presence.
I hesitated for a moment before walking up to him. The man placed his hand on my forehead and uttered some sounds that resembled bird calls. A few seconds later, I felt a warm sensation coursing through my body, as if something was trying to break free from me.
In just a few moments, I watched as feathers fell from my body. My previously bumpy skin gradually became smooth, resembling human skin. In no time at all, I had completely transformed into a human form; I had returned to my original appearance.
"What kind of being is this?" the White-Clad Man exclaimed in astonishment.
"Indeed, Father, what is this? Why do I feel no trace of any other race from him?" The Blue-Clad Man also wore an expression of surprise.
"This is a special individual; you must treat him well," the man said, his gaze carrying a deeper meaning.
A chill ran down my spine; it felt as though this man knew my true identity.
"Father, you must be mistaken! He is not one of our kind. Why should we keep him here?" the Blue-Clad Man protested.
"Exactly, Father! What if he brings us danger?" the White-Clad Man added anxiously.
“Luanqing, Luan Bai, this is not how it should be. This young brother carries the Emperor's Light; he may very well become the ruler of this world in the future. You must treat him well and remember what your father said. And you, Luanling, since this young brother was brought here by you, it indicates that there is a bond between you two that needs to be nurtured. You must cherish it.” The man glanced at Luanling before turning his gaze toward me, lingering for a few seconds before walking away.
At that moment, Luanling looked at me with a hint of shyness. I pondered over the man's words about our potential connection.
My mind went blank for a moment as I only wanted to find Ruoxi.
“Luanling, take him to rest. Since your father has spoken, you should take good care of him, understand?” Luan Bai said before leaving with Luanqing.
Luanling looked at me somewhat awkwardly and said, “Please don’t mind what my two brothers just said.”
I nodded, feeling a bit guilty. However, after thinking it over, I decided to speak up. “Luanling, I need to tell you something.”
Luanling looked surprised for a moment but then smiled. “Sure, what do you want to tell me?”
“I want to say that I already have a wife. I came here to find her,” I said as gently as possible, trying not to hurt Luanling’s feelings.
Luanling paused for a moment and shook her head. “I understand; I didn’t have any particular thoughts about it. You’re worrying too much. Alright, let me take you to where you’ll be staying.”
I nodded as Luanling walked ahead of me. I deliberately kept some distance between us.
After walking for a while, I realized I had arrived at an incredibly beautiful courtyard filled with flowers and dotted with twinkling starlight floating in the air.
It looked stunning, almost like a beautiful illusion.
"This is where you will be staying. You should rest well for now. I'll come to find you when it's time for dinner," Luanling said before leaving.
I watched Luanling's retreating figure, feeling a complex mix of emotions inside me.
I stepped into the small wooden cabin in front of me. Upon opening the door, I found it to be very clean. Though simple in appearance, it radiated a sense of tranquility, like a hidden paradise.
I walked over to the bed and lay down directly; I was feeling somewhat tired after the journey.
Just as I was about to close my eyes, a voice suddenly rang in my ears. "Wang Jun, where are you? Come quickly; I'm feeling terrible."
In an instant, I opened my eyes wide and sprang up from the bed. Looking around, I realized that the voice just now belonged to Ruoxi. Had something happened to her?
I rushed out of the cabin, calling out Ruoxi's name, but there was no response.
A wave of unease washed over me. I closed my eyes, trying to sense Ruoxi's presence. Suddenly, her aura appeared vividly in my mind, very strong. I opened my eyes and followed the guidance in my heart as I walked down the path, not paying attention to my surroundings as I hurried along.
However, after a while, the connection in my mind abruptly cut off. I stopped dead in my tracks. What was happening?
Looking around, I realized that the environment had changed drastically. This place didn't seem like Bird Tribe anymore; the surroundings were different, filled with reeds everywhere. My heart sank—had I walked out of Bird Tribe?
"Ha ha, you truly are an anomaly," a voice suddenly came from behind me.
I shivered at the sound; it was eerily reminiscent of Dumeng Princess when I first entered this world.
I immediately turned around and saw the Dumeng Princess sitting high up in a tree, looking down at me.
"You, how did you get here?" A chill ran through me; the Dumeng Princess actually recognized me.
"Naturally, I followed you here." With that, the Dumeng Princess jumped down and began to approach me step by step.
I took a few steps back, and this small movement caught her attention.
"Do you think you can escape like this?" The Dumeng Princess swung the whip in her hand toward me. I didn't have time to dodge, and instantly, a wave of pain surged through my entire body.
I frowned slightly and turned to run, but to my surprise, the Dumeng Princess leaped directly in front of me.
"Do you still want me to give you another lash?" The Dumeng Princess looked at me with a cold smile.
I shook my head and fell silent. The Dumeng Princess spun around a few times and said, "What is it about you that makes Luan Yuan of the Bird Tribe value you so much?"
Luan Yuan—wasn't that the name of the emperor that Luanling called out?
To prevent the Dumeng Princess from turning hostile again, especially since I had no magical power at all, I shook my head and said I didn’t know.
"Hah, what a fool. Also, who is this Ruoxi you keep mentioning? Is she very important to you?" As she spoke, the Dumeng Princess's face immediately filled with murderous intent.
