"Be careful." At that moment, Xiaomei rushed over and pulled me aside, just as a burst of Black Light struck A Yao.
In an instant, two massive holes appeared on A Yao's body.
"A Yao!" I screamed loudly, tears streaming down my face. Despite everything A Yao had done to us before, in that moment, all the resentment I felt vanished completely.
I dashed over and lifted A Yao into my arms. Xiaomei looked at me with a complex expression; clearly, she hadn't expected A Yao to appear and save me so recklessly.
At that moment, A Yao was no longer angry. Her body slowly transformed into glowing fragments that floated in the air, surrounding me entirely.
"Ha, truly seeking your own demise," the voice of the Ghost Gate Sect Master echoed in my ears, and a surge of anger rose within me.
Just then, the fragments surrounding me lifted me off the ground. They formed a mass and surged into my body. Suddenly, everything around me became incredibly bright and blinding.
I seemed to hear the mournful cries of the Ghost Gate Cult members. Not only that, but I also felt something tightly pressed against my chest. Instinctively, I reached down to touch it and froze; there were twelve fragments right in front of my chest.
I was startled; what was happening?
I touched them again, confirming that the twelve red dots were indeed real.
Could it be A Yao?
My eyes widened in shock. In that moment, my body was filled with power, causing me to explode outward.
Instantly, I realized that my body was undergoing a transformation.
The light around me grew increasingly blinding, accompanied by the sounds of mighty dragons echoing all around—it was truly spectacular.
Moreover, I heard a powerful voice declare, "King of Dragons, return."
As the words fell, I felt as if I had undergone a metamorphosis; every part of me transformed into something entirely different.
The surrounding light faded away, and at that moment, I finally saw myself clearly—I was dressed in a full Dragon Robe.
"The King of the Earth welcomes your arrival," Xiaomei said, stunned by my appearance. A few seconds later, she reacted and knelt before me.
I nodded and shifted my gaze to the Ghost Gate Sect Master.
The Ghost Gate Sect Master looked at me in disbelief. "This is impossible, impossible."
Seeing the pale expression on the Ghost Gate Sect Master's face reminded me of A Yao's death. Instantly, a fierce aura surged around me, violently rushing toward the Ghost Gate Sect Master, pinning him in mid-air.
"You owe a debt of vengeance; it is time to repay it," I said calmly.
As soon as my voice fell, countless Vengeful Spirits surged forth from all directions—these were the souls poisoned by the Ghost Gate Sect Master.
"Ah!" The Ghost Gate Sect Master was pierced by these Vengeful Spirits, letting out a horrific scream.
In just a moment, his body was riddled with countless holes.
"Quickly kill him! Grab the Dragon Sword!" Xiaomei's voice reached me. I snapped back to reality as a warm sensation surged from my chest. In an instant, a beam of light emanated from the dragon pattern and transformed into a Dragon Sword.
I immediately grasped the Dragon Sword and leaped into the air above the Ghost Gate Sect Master. Upon seeing me, his eyes filled with malice as he struggled to fight back, but he was held in place by countless Vengeful Spirits, unable to move.
Without hesitation, I plunged the Dragon Sword into his body. In an instant, several beams of light refracted from within him.
Moments later, the Ghost Gate Sect Master's body exploded, sending shockwaves that knocked me to the ground.
"The King of the Earth, are you alright?" Xiaomei hurriedly helped me up.
I shook my head, just about to speak when suddenly everything around us erupted in an explosion, pulling both me and Xiaomei into its chaos.
I had no idea how long it lasted before the sound finally ceased.
I looked around, and everything had changed without my noticing.
As I surveyed my surroundings, I felt a bit lost. Had it really returned to how it was before?
The area had reverted to its original state, as if everything that had happened was merely a dream.
"What is going on?" I found myself momentarily stunned.
Xiaomei was also taken aback. After glancing around, she focused her gaze on me and said, "I don't know either, but it seems like we've returned to how things were before. Could it be that the destruction of the Ghost Gate Sect Master caused a reversal in space?"
I shook my head. Just then, a car sped toward us. My heart raced, and as I instinctively tried to dodge it, I was shocked to find that the car passed right through me.
My eyes widened in disbelief, and Xiaomei was equally startled by the scene.
"Are we no longer part of this space? How could there be a spatial reaction?" Xiaomei exclaimed in surprise.
"What do you mean by spatial reaction?" I asked her, puzzled.
Xiaomei looked at her hand and then at me. "Look, our hands—our entire bodies—seem to have taken on a transparent state, and it appears that no one else around us has noticed."
As she spoke, I carefully observed the people nearby. Indeed, as Xiaomei said, our existence felt as insubstantial as air.
She continued, "Moreover, Princess and the others have also vanished. Our only way back is to return to our original world; that's the only way we can find them."
Furrowing my brow, I contemplated the situation. To return to the original world—the one ruled by the Ghost Gate Sect Master—we needed to go back to where we had just fought; perhaps there would be new clues there.
I discussed this with Xiaomei, and we decided to head back to school.
The school still looked normal, bustling with students as usual.
"Let's go to that tree," Xiaomei suggested after taking a quick glance around.
I let out a sound and led Xiaomei to the tree, using the identity of the King of the Earth to open the passage.
A beam of light appeared before us, enveloping both Xiaomei and me.
"Look, we're back," Xiaomei said, pointing at the familiar surroundings.
I glanced around and confirmed that we had indeed returned to the desolate scene created by the Ghost Gate Sect Master.
"Can you sense Ruoxi's location?" I asked Xiaomei.
"I'll give it a try."
After saying that, Xiaomei closed her eyes, seemingly searching for Ruoxi's presence. After a while, she opened her eyes, her face filled with disappointment.
I was taken aback and asked Xiaomei if she felt anything.
Xiaomei nodded and said, "King, you can try too, because your aura is the same as Princess's."
Her reminder made me recall that I could use my power as the King to amplify my aura in search of a similar response. After a while, however, there was no reaction at all, which made me anxious. Could it be that Ruoxi really wasn't here?
"What's wrong?" Xiaomei asked, noticing my dejected expression.
"I can't feel Ruoxi's presence," I said glumly.
"How could that be? Are you sure you're not mistaken?" Xiaomei looked at me in surprise.
"I'm just trying again." I tested it once more, but to my dismay, it still didn't work.
Xiaomei fell into deep thought. After a moment, she exclaimed excitedly, "When the Ghost Gate Sect Master died, it was right when your identity awakened. Could Princess be in Yamen Cave before that?"
"Yamen Cave?" I looked at Xiaomei in confusion. What was Yamen Cave?
Xiaomei nodded excitedly and said, "Yes, it's at Yamen Cave. Yamen Cave is where the King and the Princess used to live; it's on the edge between the human world and the heavens. Let's go take a look."
With that, I followed Xiaomei to the Yamen Cave she mentioned.
On the way, I felt that something was off about the atmosphere, so I stopped. Xiaomei looked at me in confusion and asked, "Your Majesty, what's wrong?"
I shook my head, cautiously scanning the surroundings, feeling an unsettling presence.
"Your Majesty, what is it?" Xiaomei seemed to sense something from my expression and whispered.
"Someone's here. Be careful."
Suddenly, a strong wind whipped around us, and I spotted the Celestial Soldiers hiding in the bushes. My heart sank; I feared that the area was swarming with them.
"Your Majesty, there are Celestial Soldiers. We might be in trouble," Xiaomei said as she stepped behind me, speaking softly.
I immediately became serious; these Celestial Soldiers were likely not here for anyone else but me.
"Attack!" A voice descended from above, echoing in my ears. In an instant, the Celestial Soldiers lying in the grass revealed themselves, shields in hand.
