"What's wrong?" I asked Xiaomei as she circled around me, her gaze constantly shifting over my body. 0

"You’re missing something," Xiaomei replied, her eyes narrowing as she focused on me. 0

"What is it?" 0

Suddenly, Xiaomei reached out and pulled open my shirt. I was taken aback, unsure of her intentions. She pointed at my chest and said, "You only have two red dots. You need at least three to harness the limited power within you. Only then can you combine your strength with the remaining power of the Princess." 0

I looked down at my chest, noticing that there were indeed only two dots in the center. I began to worry about where I could find a third one. 0

Xiaomei moved closer, sniffing around me before her expression brightened. "Wang Niu, what did you encounter just now? Where is that thing now?" 0

"It was a wraith," I replied. 0

"A wraith?" Xiaomei looked at me in confusion, shaking her head. "That can't be right. How could a wraith carry the aura of the Earth King? Moreover, there’s a trace of the King’s residual soul within it." 0

I seized upon her words and asked about this residual soul. 0

"Didn't the Princess tell you? The King lost twelve souls, and you already possess two of his residual souls. Just now, I detected the scent of a third soul from you," Xiaomei explained. 0

I paused, contemplating what she had said, suddenly feeling that something was off. 0

Xiaomei took my hand and led me toward a hidden chamber, seemingly intent on taking me somewhere specific. Captain Wu hurried after us, wanting to join our journey, but considering that Ruoxi was still unconscious and needed care, I decided to leave Captain Wu behind. 0

Captain Wu agreed without protest. 0

Xiaomei brought me back to the altar, glancing around as if searching for something. 0

"Is this where those restless spirits were found?" Xiaomei asked. 0

I nodded and pointed to the broken altar in the center, saying to Xiaomei, "That group of spirits, to be precise, came out from here." 0

Xiaomei immediately jumped down and walked inside. After a while, she disappeared from sight. I called out a few times, but there was no response from her. Reluctantly, I decided to go down as well, only to discover that there was indeed something mysterious within the altar. 0

"Wang Niu, come over here and take a look at this," Xiaomei's voice came from within. I looked over and saw her crouching by a statue. 0

As I approached, I realized it was a statue of a man, seemingly dressed as a general. 0

"A statue?" I asked Xiaomei in confusion. 0

She shook her head and said, "Look closely." 0

Faced with Xiaomei's insistence, I began to doubt myself but took a serious look. To my surprise, the statue's features seemed somewhat familiar. 0

"Don't you think the statue looks a bit like you?" Xiaomei remarked. 0

"What?" I stared at her in astonishment. 0

"Do you know who this statue represents? It is the King of the Earth. At that time, people created this statue for him and enshrined it in the king's temple. The place we are standing now is exactly where the king's temple used to be." 0

"You mean this is the king's temple?" My eyes widened in disbelief. 0

Xiaomei nodded and turned her gaze back to the statue. "Now, what you need to do is extract the lingering soul trapped within the statue. When we were in the secret chamber, I thought the lingering soul was part of that group of spirits, but it wasn't. The aura of the lingering soul is very strong within this statue, while that group of spirits has been sealed beneath the altar for so long that they naturally absorbed some of its essence." 0

I thought for a moment, could it be that the people from the Ghost Gate Cult sealed many souls beneath the altar just to suppress the lingering spirit within the statue? 0

Listening to Xiaomei's words, I placed my hand on the statue and silently recited the secret phrase she had given me. After a while, nothing happened. Just as I was about to open my eyes and ask Xiaomei, her voice came through, "Don't open your eyes; otherwise, everything we've done will be in vain." 0

I nodded in response to her. 0

At that moment, a chilling sensation traveled from the statue to my hand. Instantly, I felt every inch of my skin expand, and at the same time, my body lost all feeling. 0

This made me a bit anxious, but I kept my hand on the statue. Then, it felt as if my hand was being tightly gripped by another pair of hands. The pressure was something I wasn't used to. 0

"Don't let go; you are now the master of this statue. The lingering spirit is about to return to your body so that you can have three souls," Xiaomei said. 0

As soon as she finished speaking, a tingling sensation surged from my palm throughout my body. 0

After a moment, I sensed something settling on me, and a warmth spread across my chest, accompanied by a slight itch. Was the third red dot already appearing on my chest? 0

This feeling persisted for quite some time until eventually, my body returned to normal. 0

I opened my eyes and looked down at my chest. At that moment, two red dots had transformed into three. 0

But Xiaomei was nowhere to be seen. I stood up and glanced around. Just then, I heard some commotion above; it seemed someone had arrived. 0

I quickly hid in a corner. Uncertain of how many people were coming or their strength, I knew I couldn't act recklessly. 0

"You must check thoroughly; the Master said that if we catch him, we will be heavily rewarded," a male voice echoed through the air. 0

I was momentarily stunned, wondering who the Ghost Gate Cult was after. 0

"Boss, what happened to the altar?" A male voice came from above. 0

"It must be the work of whoever the leader is trying to capture. Hurry back and report to the leader." 0

After a while, the voice gradually faded away. I immediately jumped out of the hole and returned to the altar, retracing my steps back to the secret chamber. However, when I got back, something felt off. 0

Captain Wu and A Yao were tied up, but Ruoxi was nowhere to be found. 0

Panic surged through me. Could something have happened to Ruoxi? I rushed over and untied A Yao and Captain Wu, asking them where Ruoxi was. 0

Captain Wu sighed, looking somewhat helpless as he glanced at A Yao, his expression suggesting he had something to say but hesitated. 0

This made me connect Ruoxi's disappearance with A Yao, and I anxiously asked A Yao what had happened. 0

Before A Yao could respond, he sneered, "What? Are you worried about your precious Ruoxi? Did you not see that I was tied up? It was your beloved Ruoxi who did this." 0

"What?" I was taken aback and looked at Captain Wu. 0

Captain Wu shook his head, sighed again, and pulled me aside. He even turned back to glance at A Yao and said, "Little brother, have you noticed that Miss A-Yao has changed?" 0

His words sent a chill down my spine, further confirming my suspicion that Ruoxi's disappearance was somehow related to A Yao. 0

"Is it Ruoxi?" I started to ask but stopped midway. I thought Captain Wu would understand what I meant. 0

Captain Wu nodded, his voice filled with helplessness as he said, "After you left, I stayed behind to take care of Miss Ruoxi. I intended to get her some water, but unexpectedly, when I was leaving, Miss A-Yao suddenly grabbed a knife and lunged at Miss Ruoxi, stabbing her in the chest. I was shocked; I never thought Miss A-Yao would do something like that. Just as I was about to intervene, Xiaomei appeared. She tied both me and A-Yao up and took Miss Ruoxi away." 0

"You mean Xiaomei took Ruoxi?" I looked at Captain Wu in surprise. No wonder Xiaomei had disappeared; could it be that she sensed something was going to happen to Ruoxi? 0

Captain Wu nodded. My heart raced with anxiety—A-Yao had stabbed Ruoxi in the chest. Was Ruoxi in danger? 0

"I need to find Ruoxi." After throwing down those words, I dashed outside. 0

Captain Wu caught up with me just then when A-Yao's voice called out, "Wang Niu, are you really going to leave me behind?" 0

My feet suddenly stopped, my body trembled slightly as I turned to look at A-Yao. 0

A strange expression appeared on A-Yao's face; her demeanor was cold, nothing like the A-Yao I knew before. For some reason, my heart was solely focused on Ruoxi. I didn’t respond to A-Yao and walked out of the secret room. However, I didn’t expect that this action would later bring immense trouble for both me and Ruoxi. 0

"Little brother, do you know where Xiaomei took Miss Ruoxi?" Captain Wu asked breathlessly. 0

I nodded, recalling the tent we had set up earlier in an open grassy area when we returned here. 0

It was a bit far away, and we would need to avoid the Ghost Gate Cult members along the way. 0

I led Captain Wu along the route from the city to the outskirts. Captain Wu looked worried and asked me, "Little brother, why don’t we take Miss A-Yao with us? What if she runs off on her own again?" 0
