A few seconds later, the red mist parted, revealing four young women dressed in red. They carried a Flower Bridge.
I could faintly feel a coolness emanating from the Flower Bridge.
As they drew closer, they stopped in front of me, bowed, and set down the Flower Bridge.
One of the women helped me up and quickly fed me a pill.
In an instant, my body felt even weaker; if it weren't for her support, I would have likely collapsed to the ground.
"Who are you?" I asked.
The woman looked at me expressionlessly and replied coldly, "You don't need to know. Our master sent us to fetch you. You'll understand once we arrive."
As she spoke, a force appeared behind me, pushing me into the Flower Bridge. Once I was seated inside, the curtains of the Flower Bridge closed.
Suddenly, my surroundings darkened. When I tried to look outside, I realized that the Flower Bridge had been sealed off without my noticing. My heart trembled; could it be what they referred to as the Evil Desert Spirit?
Anxiety washed over me, and I knew I had to remain vigilant.
I didn't know how long it had been when the Flower Bridge finally came to a stop, and I heard the sound of women's laughter.
It seemed that it wasn't the dreaded Evil Desert Spirit after all.
Just as I was pondering this, the curtain of the Flower Bridge was pulled open by the same woman who had pushed me inside.
She pulled me up directly and handed me over to a few girls in front of her before leaving.
So, I found myself surrounded by a group of girls, who ushered me into a room. When they opened the door, I was taken aback; it was a large bathing pool. Were they really going to bathe with me?
Suddenly, my face turned red. Could this be the legendary romantic encounter?
Out of nowhere, someone behind me pushed me hard, and I fell straight into the pool, splashing water everywhere.
I became a drenched chicken, and the girl standing behind me burst into laughter at the sight.
"You better wash up well; our master will be coming soon," one of the girls tossed out before leading the others away.
Master.
Who exactly was this master they spoke of?
However, the water here felt incredibly soothing. After a while, I began to feel refreshed and light, as if all my stress had melted away.
Soon, I felt an overwhelming urge to take a nap. I found a spot with some back support, leaned back, and closed my eyes to enjoy the moment.
Time passed, but I didn't see the master they mentioned. Gradually, my guard lowered, and I started to drift off to sleep.
But after a while, I sensed something was off.
There was an unusual sensation on my back that made my entire body tingle. It felt as if two incredibly smooth and soft hands were caressing my back.
From my back to my chest, a wave of heat surged through me.
In just a moment, I felt an intense warmth enveloping my entire being.
I opened my eyes immediately; if this continued, it would awaken the desires buried deep within me.
"Are you awake? Are you comfortable?" A melodious female voice came from behind me.
My body trembled slightly—there was a woman here.
Like a startled rabbit, I snapped back to reality, only to find myself frozen in place. It was the woman who claimed to be a goddess.
"What are you doing here?" I instinctively asked.
She smiled, but her gaze lingered on my chest. I followed her gaze and glanced down at my own chest. In an instant, my face flushed, and I had no choice but to turn away from her.
She didn’t respond to my question. Instead, she stepped out of the pool and walked toward me slowly.
I heard the sound of water splashing. For some reason, I began to feel anxious and kept retreating, trying to distance myself from her.
"Are you afraid of me?" she asked, not advancing any further but sitting down instead, her expression calm as she watched me.
Though I had my back turned to her, I could still feel her intense gaze burning into me.
"What do you want from me?" I asked, unable to withstand the weight of her stare. After all, I was a man, and in such a situation.
The woman laughed and said, "I don't know what you want, but I do know that you want to leave here and return to your own realm, right?"
I stiffened for a moment and quickly turned to look at her. "How do you know?"
She stood up, her figure subtly revealed before me. It would be a lie to say I wasn't moved, but I tried my best to suppress my feelings. After all, I had someone back home.
"I can help you fulfill that wish, but I have a request," she said as she walked toward me.
A captivating fragrance wafted into my nostrils, and suddenly my head felt heavy. I shook it vigorously, trying to clear my mind.
Yet, I was still entranced by that scent.
The woman approached me and extended her hands. For some reason, my body leaned toward her.
My heart raced, but I found myself unable to pull away from her.
"You should understand my request now. I want you to be my husband and cultivate with me," she declared.
I was taken aback and hurriedly explained that I had a girlfriend.
But the woman paid no heed to my words. She seized my neck and lifted me off the ground, slamming me down hard.
In an instant, pain shot through my entire body.
I gritted my teeth and got back up, facing the woman's actions with no way to resist.
The woman flew up from the pool, droplets of water still cascading down her body. Although the scene was beautiful, I felt no inclination to appreciate it.
"You are a smart person; you should know how to choose. Choose me, and everything can be resolved," she said, her eyes fixed on mine.
"I know, but I only want my girlfriend." It was a tempting offer, but I understood that the cost behind it would be significant.
I didn't believe I was lucky; this woman was undoubtedly calculating something.
Seeing my silence, she stepped closer and pointed at my back. "You have a curse from the Evil Desert Spirit on your back, and only I can remove it. If you don't get rid of this curse soon, you will become an Evil Spirit that everyone in the Madness Realm fears. At that point, they will beg me to eliminate you, even those who took you in before—Bule and her Dad—will harbor hostility towards you."
Images of Bule and her Dad flashed in my mind, and a sharp pain gripped my heart.
At that moment, a small knife and a Small Bowl appeared in the woman's hand. She offered the knife to me. "Come on, drop your blood into this bowl, and we will become husband and wife."
I looked at the knife in her hand, hesitating. I thought of A Yao; this would betray her. But if I didn't do this, I couldn't return to my own world.
I gritted my teeth, feeling utterly conflicted. I took the knife from her hand and quickly cut my finger, letting my blood drip into the Small Bowl.
Seeing this, the corners of her mouth lifted slightly as she added her own blood to the bowl. Once our two drops merged together, a massive Lotus Throne suddenly reflected in the Small Bowl.
"What is that?" I asked.
"You'll find out soon enough."
As soon as she finished speaking, a beam of white light burst forth from the Lotus Throne, and its center opened up, releasing two streams of red light.
Before me, two beams of red light transformed into two small children, each holding a lock in their hands.
They extended the locks towards me and the woman. I was taken aback and asked her what they were.
The woman replied, "These are called Heart Locks, a gift from the heavens for both of us."
I pondered for a moment before taking the Heart Lock into my hands. Suddenly, the lock emitted a bright light and then vanished.
I was stunned to see a lock pattern appear on my palm, identical to the one I had just held.
"What is happening?" I looked at the woman.
She glanced at me and walked towards a screen, seemingly changing her clothes. After a while, she emerged looking refreshed and said, "Now that we are married, this lock has entered our bodies. It signifies that we are one. If either of our locks breaks, it means the other will cease to exist, and the remaining one won't survive long either."
I was somewhat astonished. The woman took my hand and said, "My husband, you should go change your clothes. Tonight, we will enjoy the people's reverence in the city, and tomorrow is the Ritual ceremony."
I frowned slightly, feeling uneasy about it all, and my curiosity about the woman's mysterious nature grew.
This woman did not seem like a deity.
"Since we are now married, shouldn't you tell me who you really are?" I stopped and looked at her seriously.
She released my hand and faced me directly. "It's time I told you. My name is Xiruo, and I am the Guardian Deity of this realm. I have existed since the time of Nuwa's creation. Back then, many demons and monsters were born in this Madness Realm, and Nuwa entrusted me with the task of protecting this land."
