As the butler walked down, I noticed that a figure was closely following him.
No, to be precise, it was a Wraith.
The Wraith clung tightly to the butler as he descended. I watched cautiously as Director Huang stepped forward, intending to speak with the butler, only to be pushed aside by him.
Director Huang was taken aback, surprised by the butler's actions, as if he had become a different person.
I quickly stepped in and pulled Director Huang behind me. To prevent the Wraith from attacking, I immediately pressed the Dog Blood against the butler's forehead. In an instant, the butler began to convulse.
Seeing this, Director Huang paused and asked what was wrong with the butler.
I explained that there was a Wraith looming behind him and that in order to save the butler, we needed to eliminate the Wraith.
While I spoke with Director Huang, the Evil Spirit behind the butler began to emit smoke. Recognizing this as a good opportunity, I strode forward and plunged a wooden sword made of peach wood into the Evil Spirit. A piercing scream echoed as the Evil Spirit vanished.
The butler collapsed as well, but fortunately, Captain Wu was quick enough to catch him and helped him onto a nearby sofa.
"Little brother, what on earth is going on?" Director Huang furrowed his brow, likely realizing that things were becoming increasingly serious.
I frowned, about to respond to Director Huang when suddenly footsteps echoed from upstairs.
In that moment, everyone heard it. Who else could possibly appear at this time?
"Be careful; those two Rabbit Demons are showing up," I warned Captain Wu and Director Huang.
Just after I spoke, the two Rabbit Demons appeared before us, revealing their true forms this time.
Director Huang fainted at the sight.
Captain Wu hurriedly helped Director Huang onto the sofa and asked how we should deal with these two Rabbit Demons. To my surprise, our words reached the ears of the Rabbit Demons, who sneered and remarked that our attempts to eliminate them were nothing more than foolish dreams.
I reminded Captain Wu to stay cautious and not let his guard down.
At that moment, I felt a chilling presence closing in on me, but for some reason, it suddenly vanished.
Suddenly, the leading white Rabbit Demon spat out Black Blood.
I was taken aback, realizing that this might be a good opportunity to deal with the Rabbit Demon. I quickly drew the wooden sword I had just used to slay the Wraith and lunged at the bleeding Rabbit Demon. However, another Rabbit Demon struck me against the wall with a powerful blow.
Pain surged through my entire body as I bit down hard on my lip. Struggling to rise again and confront the two Rabbit Demons, something unexpected happened.
The bleeding Rabbit Demon was suddenly enveloped in a burst of white light. In just a few seconds, the Rabbit Demon was completely healed.
"Do you even know what you're doing?" the white Rabbit Demon said coldly to me.
"I'm here to kill you," I replied, refusing to back down.
The white Rabbit Demon burst into laughter, as if it had heard something incredibly amusing. Pointing at me, it exclaimed, "You think a mere mortal like you can kill an immortal? How ridiculous! Do you even know what that light was?"
I shook my head, and the white Rabbit Demon continued, "That was a blessing from the immortals. How dare you act against them? You must not understand the power of Yin Chai."
Upon hearing this, I was taken aback. How did Yin Chai come into this?
The corners of the white Rabbit Demon's mouth curled into a strange smile. It moved its mouth slightly, producing some odd sounds, and soon after, the lights around us dimmed.
My chest tightened instantly, and Captain Wu appeared somewhat anxious as he asked what was happening.
I looked around and saw that the ceiling had transformed; it was now shrouded in black mist.
"Very soon, you'll get a taste of the Eighteen Layers of Hell," it said ominously.
As soon as those words fell, I heard the sound of chains clinking—an eerie sensation that seemed to come from both far away and close by. My heart raced; could it be that Yin Chai had truly arrived?
I quickly grabbed Captain Wu's hand and urged him to hurry.
However, before we could escape through the door, we were startled by what appeared before us.
It wasn't human; it had the body and appearance of Ox-Head and Horse-Face.
They were Yin Chai.
They seized their chains and swiftly ensnared our necks. In an instant, Captain Wu and I found ourselves unable to breathe.
They glared at us with fierce eyes, looking as if they wanted nothing more than to kill us on the spot.
The two Rabbit Demons laughed heartily at this scene, strutting toward us with smug expressions. They looked down on us and said, "This is what happens when you offend the immortals."
After taunting us, the two Rabbit Demons turned to face Yin Chai, instructing them to deal with us thoroughly.
Yin Chai seemed to hold great respect for these two Rabbit Demons and acknowledged them with a nod. We were then dragged toward the door by Yin Chai.
My heart sank suddenly. If this continued, both Captain Wu and I would surely die at their hands. I quickly reached into my back pocket and pulled out a talisman, sticking it directly onto the chains binding the two Yin Chai. However, to my dismay, it had no effect whatsoever.
I was stunned.
"Hmph, you really don't know your limits. This is Yin Chai; do you think you're a ghost?"
I frowned involuntarily, and at that moment, my breathing became increasingly labored. Just then, an unexpected turn of events occurred.
A beam of white light shot into the villa, injuring the Yin Chai and the two Rabbit Spirits, who let out piercing screams. Not only that, but thick smoke began to billow from their bodies.
At that moment, Captain Wu and I were saved. After catching my breath for a moment, I stood up and helped Captain Wu to his feet.
"Cough, cough, that was close," Captain Wu said excitedly.
I nodded in agreement. "Yes, thankfully something unexpected happened."
As I spoke those words, my gaze remained fixed on the beam of light that had appeared in the villa.
Moments later, to our astonishment, we saw a figure materialize before us, shimmering with starlight.
Was that Heavenly Palace?
Instantly, my heart was filled with curiosity.
To my surprise, when the two Rabbit Demons saw the figure appear, they froze for a moment before immediately begging for mercy, calling out for Heavenly Palace to spare them.
I turned my gaze toward the figure in shock.
What astonished me even more was that when Heavenly Palace turned its attention toward me, I recognized Old Director!
Wait a minute—Old Director is Heavenly Palace?
In an instant, both Captain Wu and I exclaimed in disbelief; this was utterly incredible.
Old Director smiled kindly at us and waved something in his hand. We then watched as the two Rabbit Demons and the Yin Chai begging for mercy vanished from sight.
Moreover, the black mist within the house dissipated as well.
"Old Director, what is going on? How are you Heavenly Palace?" I rushed over to Old Director now that everything seemed resolved.
"Yes, Old Director, how did you die?" Captain Wu followed up with his question.
The Old Director smiled after hearing our words and said, "These things have long been predetermined; it's just that the time hasn't come yet, including for you."
As he spoke the last sentence, the Old Director suddenly looked at me.
I was taken aback and asked him what he meant.
The Old Director smiled mysteriously, not directly answering my question. Instead, he said that the matter concerning the Big Boss had already been resolved. Tomorrow, the Big Boss would wake up normally, and his condition was gradually improving.
After saying this, the Old Director vanished.
Captain Wu and I exchanged glances, still unable to shake off the surprise from earlier. By this time, dawn had broken.
Director Huang and the butler, who had been lying on the sofa, woke up. Upon seeing Captain Wu and me, they paused for a moment and asked if something had happened.
We nodded. Since this matter couldn't be explained in a short time, Captain Wu and I decided to skip over that part and simply said that the Big Boss's illness had been cured and that after a period of rest, he would be able to return to normal completely.
Upon hearing this, Director Huang and the butler were very pleased and immediately went upstairs to see the Big Boss. We followed closely behind them.
