After a few days of recovery, Uncle Tiger was discharged from the hospital. 0

Concerned about Uncle Tiger's health, especially given his age, He Wei's matters were put on hold. 0

I brought Uncle Tiger back to our place, and A Yao was particularly enthusiastic upon seeing him, as she had interacted with Uncle Tiger before. 0

To help Uncle Tiger regain his strength, Captain Wu and I went to the market to buy a hen, hoping that A Yao and Officer Yuan could make some chicken soup for him. 0

However, to our surprise, we ran into He Wei at the market. 0

While selecting a hen, I suddenly spotted someone who looked like He Wei. I immediately informed Captain Wu, who glanced over and confirmed that it was indeed He Wei. 0

We quickly followed He Wei as he walked into a very dark alley. 0

Without hesitation, Captain Wu rushed ahead, but I grabbed his arm and said that this alley might be dangerous and we shouldn't act recklessly. 0

Captain Wu looked at the alley and asked if there was something wrong with it. 0

I didn't answer him but took a few steps forward into the alley. A few seconds later, I suddenly heard some noises. Moreover, I vaguely sensed a presence of dark energy swirling in the alley. 0

I turned around and told Captain Wu that there was dark energy here, indicating it was definitely not an ordinary place. We also had no idea where this alley led. If it was filled with He Wei's people, we would be at a disadvantage. 0

Captain Wu agreed and nodded, saying we should come up with a plan. 0

Just as we were about to leave, we encountered an old woman. 0

The old woman's expression immediately changed for the worse; she even trembled as she spoke to us. "You just went in there." 0

Faced with her reaction, Captain Wu and I exchanged puzzled glances. Why did the old woman look so strange? 0

We nodded at her, but her tone grew more serious as she scolded us. "You fools! Do you know what this alley is called?" 0

Captain Wu and I shook our heads and replied that we didn't know; we were just passing through. 0

The old woman's expression suddenly turned cold, her gaze seemingly hiding some complex emotions as she spoke. "This alley has seen the deaths of seventy-seven adults; it's a very notorious place." 0

Her words immediately caught the attention of both me and Captain Wu. It was shocking to learn that so many people had died in this alley. 0

I glanced at Captain Wu, my eyes filled with questions. After all, discovering such a significant loss must have been clear to him, but Captain Wu shook his head in response. 0

Could it be that the old woman was lying to us? 0

I asked her if she might have made a mistake. 0

The old woman glared at me and said seriously, "Young man, how could I joke about something like this? You’re too young to know what has happened here. This alley wasn’t always like this. Behind this alley lived seventy-eight households, all single men, except for one household that had a young woman." 0

For some reason, the old woman stopped speaking at that point. 0

Captain Wu and I grew anxious and urged her to continue. 0

The old woman glanced down the alley, a flicker of fear crossing her eyes. She pulled us away from the alley and led us to a nearby pavilion. After a sigh, she resumed her story. "That young woman was a prostitute. At first, everyone lived their own lives without bothering each other. But as time went on, those seventy-seven men began to settle down with families while that young woman continued her work, frequently bringing men home. Over time, the families became unhappy; after all, the sounds coming from her house every night had a significant impact on their children. They believed having such a woman living here would corrupt the local atmosphere and even lead their children astray. So, the heads of those seventy-seven households banded together and confronted her, demanding that she leave." 0

"But she refused to budge and remained indifferent, continuing to bring men home every night. In fact, she became even bolder, sometimes entertaining four or five men at once. This infuriated the heads of those households; they worried about what would happen to their children if this continued. Thus, they resorted to drastic measures to scare her off. One night, they all went to her house while she was entertaining several men. They began pouring gasoline around her home." 0

"Isn't that illegal?" Captain Wu interjected at this point. 0

The old woman sighed again. "Yes, it is illegal. The men didn’t intend to kill her; they just wanted to frighten her. But somehow, things went horribly wrong, and she ended up being burned alive." 0

At this moment, a chill ran down my spine. 0

The old woman continued, "No one expected such an outcome. The men were terrified and feared that news of this would leak out, so they hid her body in her home. Time passed quietly; it seemed no one noticed that she was missing since her line of work was rather discreet. However, one night something strange occurred: loud sounds of men and women engaging in intimacy echoed from her house—so loud that all seventy-seven heads of households heard it. They were puzzled because they thought they had killed her; how could there still be sounds coming from her home? They decided to investigate together. To their shock, when they entered her house, the door closed ominously behind them. Even more terrifying was that the young woman appeared alive before them! The next morning, the families discovered their men were missing and began searching for them one by one until they found their bodies in the young woman's home—such gruesome deaths terrified everyone present." 0

"Did they call the police?" Captain Wu asked. 0

The old woman shook her head. "This incident wasn't reported because the police officer who knew about it mysteriously died soon after. After that, no one dared take on the case; it simply faded into obscurity." 0

I furrowed my brow. It was only the male owners who had died; weren't there still family members? So I asked the old woman. 0

The old woman sighed and said, "Those family members are dead too. Not a single one escaped. The night after those men died, the sounds of that young lady and a man in their embrace echoed again, which terrified the family members. After all, they knew very well how their men had died. It was certainly the ghost of that young lady coming to haunt them, scaring those men to death. So everyone was anxious and fled with their children that very night. They thought they could escape, but it was useless; they all died outside." 0

"Since these events occurred, no one has dared to enter this alley. Once, a drunkard accidentally stumbled into it, and that night, someone heard his miserable cries. The next morning, his body was discovered, hanging right where you two are standing now." 0

As she finished speaking, both Captain Wu and I swallowed hard, feeling a chill run down our spines. 0

The old woman looked deeply at both of us and warned, "Don't go in there; you'll regret it." Then she left. 0

Captain Wu and I watched her figure fade away, contemplating what we had just heard. 0

After a while, we snapped out of our thoughts. I asked Captain Wu what he thought about the old woman's story. 0

There seemed to be some doubt in Captain Wu's eyes as he replied, "It's impossible; there would be records at the police station. I'll check it out. If this really happened, then we're in for some trouble." 0

I nodded and glanced back at the alley. Perhaps it was just my imagination, but it seemed like the dark mist within the alley had thickened. 0

This could be considered a gain from our outing. We then left to pick out two hens for Uncle Tiger. 0

Upon returning to our place, we found Uncle Tiger chatting happily with A Yao. Since there were still matters that needed investigating by Captain Wu and me, I handed the hens over to A Yao and prepared to leave with Captain Wu. Just then, Uncle Tiger called out to me. 0
