If the website could be accessed, Black Cat said that it was not suitable to enter the area where Yokai were present.
As for Black Cat, I thought for a moment. It was broad daylight, and even if there were Yokai around, it shouldn't pose much of a problem for us. After all, the Yang Qi was abundant right now. I began to speak with Black Cat, but she shook her head, insisting that we should not go in. She explained that the environment inside the Cemetery was different; it was like two separate magnetic fields, and it was a haven for Yokai.
I didn't quite understand what Black Cat meant by "haven," but I decided to heed her advice and stayed outside.
Captain Wu was puzzled and asked when we would go in. We hadn't been able to enter last night, and he wondered if we would still be able to find the corpse today, especially since the back mountain was so vast.
I wasn't worried about what Captain Wu said; after all, we had Black Cat with us. I reassured him.
So, Captain Wu and I waited outside the Cemetery until evening. Perhaps Captain Wu's patience had worn thin; he stood up and said, "Little brother, it's already afternoon. If we go in at night, it will be even more dangerous."
I thought Captain Wu made a valid point. I gently nudged the sleeping Black Cat in my arms. After a moment, she woke up and lazily glanced at me before shaking her head and going back to sleep. I felt helpless and told Captain Wu to wait a little longer.
Captain Wu shot me a look but sat back down. Time passed, and before we knew it, it was nine o'clock.
Suddenly, Black Cat opened her eyes and let out a sharp scream that echoed around us.
For some reason, all the hairs on my body stood on end; it felt eerie. Captain Wu reacted similarly.
He walked over and asked me what was happening. I shook my head in confusion. At that moment, I noticed that the Cemetery had transformed into another scene. A thick white mist suddenly filled the air, and to my surprise, the mist began to take shape into a figure that floated toward us.
This made both Captain Wu and me tense up. Just then, Black Cat jumped down from my arms and stood in front of us as the figure approached. I watched as she spoke to the figure; it nodded at me and Captain Wu before Black Cat turned back to us and pointed at the figure while calling out a few words.
I understood what Black Cat meant and explained it to Captain Wu. His agitation finally settled as he said we should follow the figure.
I nodded in agreement as Black Cat jumped back into my arms.
We followed the figure into the Cemetery. Something felt off tonight; it seemed different somehow. The surrounding area was filled with white mist as if someone had set a fire nearby.
"Captain Wu, let's be a bit more cautious," I said, filled with concern.
Captain Wu nodded, and the white figure in front of us led us toward the back mountain of the Cemetery. Along the way, I kept my eyes on the surroundings. I wasn't sure if it was just my imagination, but I saw several people dressed in black standing in front of the tombstones, their faces expressionless as they stared in the same direction.
Suddenly, my heart skipped a beat. These could not be human; who would come to a cemetery at night?
At that moment, Captain Wu urgently nudged me and said, "Little brother, did you see that? Why are there so many people in the Cemetery? This is not right."
My expression turned serious. I thought it was just me seeing things, but even Captain Wu noticed them. I hugged my Black Cat tighter; perhaps it sensed my anxiety and called out to me a few times, reassuring me not to worry.
But how could I not worry? After all, so many spirits—could this be what Black Cat referred to as Yokai?
Suddenly, the figure in front stopped moving, as if it wouldn't go any further. Its body trembled violently.
I furrowed my brow. What was wrong with that figure?
In the next moment, I heard many voices crying out. My body shivered; weren't those the voices of Yokai?
"Black Cat, what's going on?" I asked urgently.
The Black Cat looked at me and said seriously, "Wang Niu, you all need to kneel down. The Yokai are about to go up the mountain to pay respects to the Ghost King."
Black Cat's words startled both me and Captain Wu. There was actually a Ghost King in this back mountain?
Seeing that we didn't react, Black Cat jumped out of my arms and kicked both me and Captain Wu hard enough that we immediately knelt down. I didn't expect Black Cat to be so strong.
Once we were on our knees, those Yokai standing by the tombstones suddenly sprang into action. They walked toward us along our path.
The atmosphere became tense.
These Yokai seemed oblivious to our presence as they walked forward one after another with vacant gazes.
At that moment, the moon in the sky brightened significantly. Looking up, it truly felt like a night for Yokai to roam.
After a while, the Yokai all walked up to the back mountain, leaving only me and Captain Wu kneeling on the path, our legs already starting to feel numb.
The Black Cat called out to us a few times, as if saying we could stand up now.
I slowly got to my feet, only to realize that my legs were completely numb. I glanced at the back mountain and quietly asked the Black Cat if we could go up, since we still hadn't found Liu Shoubai's body, and He Wei was nowhere to be seen.
The Black Cat replied that we had to wait until the moon dimmed before we could go.
I looked up at the bright moon in the night sky; it was so bright that it seemed impossible for it to dim anytime soon. When would that be?
Suddenly, Captain Wu let out a pained cry. I quickly snapped back to reality and asked him what was wrong.
Captain Wu frowned, his face showing signs of discomfort as he said that he was getting old and couldn't handle kneeling for too long.
I chuckled lightly, feeling a bit guilty, and said that we wouldn't have to kneel much longer; once the moon dimmed, we could head up the mountain.
Captain Wu grunted in acknowledgment and sat down.
Seeing this, I also sat on the ground to wait. After a while, the moon in the night sky suddenly dimmed, and everything around us plunged into darkness, creating an atmosphere where we couldn't see our hands in front of our faces. This left both me and Captain Wu in a predicament; without being able to see the path, how could we climb up the mountain? Moreover, there were so many spirits up there—wasn't that even more dangerous?
Suddenly, an oil lamp appeared before us, illuminating our surroundings. To my surprise, it was brought out by the Black Cat.
Knowing the Black Cat's identity, I wasn't shocked; rather, it was Captain Wu who looked puzzled and asked me again if the Black Cat was really a Cat Fairy.
I couldn't help but laugh and nodded in affirmation.
I picked up the oil lamp and walked along the path. Perhaps it was because of this lamp that my heart felt much calmer. Before long, Captain Wu and I reached the entrance of the back mountain.
At that moment, a very strange cry echoed from within the mountain. This sound spread throughout the entire Cemetery in an instant, and faintly, waves seemed to ripple through the air.
We immediately halted our steps, feeling somewhat at a loss.
Black Cat listened and called out to us before swiftly disappearing from our sight, leaving me somewhat stunned.
Beside me, Captain Wu anxiously said, "Little brother, do you think Black Cat might have left us behind?"
I reassured him that it wouldn't happen; perhaps Black Cat sensed something and went to check the back mountain first. If we waited a bit, Black Cat would surely return.
Captain Wu nodded, but as time passed, Black Cat still hadn't come back, and there was no sound from the back mountain either. This made me increasingly worried. What if something had happened to Black Cat inside?
"Meow."
I suddenly felt a surge of excitement; Black Cat was back! Sure enough, in the next moment, Black Cat darted into my arms and said we could go in now—the Yokai and the Demon King inside had been subdued.
I looked at Black Cat in confusion and asked what was going on.
Seeing me talk to Black Cat, Captain Wu interjected in surprise, asking if Black Cat could actually speak human language.
I nodded and focused all my attention on Black Cat. It explained that this was the Yin Limit. The magnetic field here was different from the outside world, essentially creating another realm—equivalent to the world of Yokai, which naturally had its own Yin Limit.
I shook my head, not fully understanding. As long as we were safe, that was what mattered. Black Cat seemed a bit helpless and continued, saying that the Yin Limit was time-sensitive. We had to leave the back mountain after the Yin Limit ended and find Liu Shoubai's body immediately without delay.
