I felt my face turn pale as I realized the implications of what I had just encountered. Earlier, I had found it strange that Captain Wu had gone with those twenty officers, yet he was unharmed while they were in trouble. 0

I quickly explained the situation to A Yao. Although A Yao looked a bit unhappy, he agreed to help. After escorting A Yao back to the dormitory and exchanging a few more words, I rushed to Captain Wu's house. 0

As I approached the door, I heard a cacophony of sounds from inside, as if there was some sort of commotion happening. My heart raced, and I forcefully slammed against the door, but it was incredibly sturdy. With no other option, I hurried down to the security booth and asked the guard for help, insisting that something was wrong in room 301 and that we needed to get in quickly before someone got hurt. 0

Room 301 was where Captain Wu lived. 0

Upon hearing that lives were at stake, the guard wasted no time; he grabbed his tools and rushed upstairs with me. 0

When we reached the door, the noise from inside had suddenly stopped, which only heightened my anxiety. What if something had happened to Captain Wu? 0

The guard, however, seemed skeptical. He thought I was trying to pull a fast one on him and questioned why someone who didn’t belong in the neighborhood would be there at such a late hour. Was I trying to steal something? 0

I was taken aback and felt anger rising within me. Who would come all this way in the middle of the night just to steal? Just as I was about to argue with him, we heard Captain Wu's agonizing scream from inside. 0

My heart sank. I immediately urged the guard to open the door. The guard seemed startled by Captain Wu's scream; after a moment of hesitation, he snapped back to reality and began breaking down the door. 0

Once it swung open, what we saw inside was horrifying: Captain Wu was ensnared by a mass of black mist around his neck, looking as if he were on the verge of losing consciousness. 0

The guard froze in shock at first. But I couldn’t afford to wait for him; I dashed inside and grabbed a nearby chair, swinging it at the black mist. Though I wasn’t sure if it would work, doing something felt better than doing nothing. 0

To my surprise, my strike caused the mist around Captain Wu's neck to dissipate immediately, and he collapsed. I rushed over to support him and glanced back at the remaining mist. Although it had dispersed somewhat, it still lingered in the air, keeping me on edge—who knew if it would regroup? 0

I gently shook Captain Wu and asked if he was alright. 0

He slowly opened his eyes, gratitude shining through them as he nodded slightly. Suddenly, a crackling sound filled my ears as if something was emerging from somewhere. 0

Confused, I scanned the surroundings but found nothing unusual. At that moment, Captain Wu moved slightly; his eyes widened in shock as if he had seen something startling. Following his gaze, I turned toward the wall opposite us and gasped—the wall was seeping blood. 0

In mere moments, the entire wall became stained red, and then the blood began to form into words in Thai. 0

The Thai script was the same one that Captain Wu had shown me earlier. In an instant, the phrase "The coffin opener, haunted by vengeful spirits, is as good as dead" flashed through my mind. 0

At that moment, the black mist hovering in mid-air began to coalesce again, forming a dense mass. This startled Captain Wu, who immediately shouted at me, "Little brother, be careful!" 0

I instinctively turned to look at Captain Wu, but suddenly felt a chill behind me, a cold and eerie sensation creeping over me. 0

Before I could turn back, the black mist surged toward me. In an instant, I lost consciousness and collapsed onto the ground. 0

After what felt like an eternity, I heard someone calling my name. 0

Struggling to open my eyes, I saw Captain Wu looking anxious. The black mist I had seen before was gone. 0

I was momentarily stunned and asked Captain Wu what had just happened. 0

He helped me sit up on the sofa and poured me a glass of water before explaining, "You have no idea. After you fainted, that black mist lunged at me. Just when it seemed like I was done for, a strong wind blew in from the entrance and collided with the mist. It dissipated instantly, and the Thai script on the wall vanished." 0

I looked at the wall in confusion; it was just as Captain Wu had said. Did this mean the curse was lifted? 0

Wait a minute, how could a strong wind have blown in from the entrance? The more I thought about it, the stranger it seemed. Was someone helping me and Captain Wu? 0

"What are you thinking about, little brother?" Captain Wu asked, taking a deep breath. 0

I snapped back to reality, shook my head, and then looked at him again. I asked if he felt unwell and whether he needed to go to the hospital. 0

Captain Wu replied that he felt much better now. He added that this place was no longer safe to stay in and suggested that I move in with him at the police station. He could arrange for a special position for me there. 0

I hesitated at Captain Wu's suggestion; what about A Yao? I couldn't just live at the police station indefinitely. 0

Noticing my silence, Captain Wu asked if I had any concerns. 0

I nodded and voiced my worries about a strange person who had recently appeared around A Yao. 0

It seemed that the danger had passed, and Captain Wu curiously asked me about the strange person. 0

I revealed Qiman's identity. 0

Upon hearing this, Captain Wu appeared to be deep in thought before saying, "Are you hoping that I investigate this person named Qiman?" 0

I initially didn't want to trouble Captain Wu, but fearing there might be greater dangers lurking, I nodded and said it would be a bother. 0

Captain Wu readily agreed, and I followed him as we left. After returning to the police station, he expressed concern for A Yao's safety and mentioned that he would come back to the station in a few days. 0

Seeing that I had agreed to his request made Captain Wu very happy, and he quickly accepted. 0

Once back at my dormitory, I fell asleep almost immediately. 0

The back-and-forth had indeed been exhausting, but before I could sleep for long, I was startled awake by a noise outside my door. 0

It sounded like something was knocking at the entrance. I quickly got up and opened the dormitory door, peering outside. To my shock, I noticed a shadow seeping through the gap of the door. 0

My heart raced as I instinctively grabbed a stick. After all the bizarre events of the past few days, I felt that whatever stood outside might not be human. 0

I cautiously stepped forward a few paces, but just then, the noise outside ceased, and the shadow I had seen vanished. 0

Yet my grip on the stick remained tight. 0

I didn't believe this was just a minor incident. Taking a deep breath, I leaned toward the peephole. Each dormitory building at school had a small peephole installed on its door. 0

What I didn’t expect was that when I looked through it, I would see something horrifying—a bloodied eyeball. 0

I jumped back in shock and let out a scream. 0

At that moment, there was another loud banging on the door, as if someone were repeatedly hitting it with a ping pong ball. 0

This made me even more cautious. I didn't dare to get too close to the door, fearing I might see something terrifying. 0

The noise lasted for a long time, and then, after a while, it quieted down again. 0

After such a commotion, I suddenly lost all desire to sleep. It seemed I would have to stay awake all night. However, despite my thoughts, I couldn't resist the heaviness in my eyelids, and before long, I fell asleep. 0

I don't know if something was watching me from somewhere, but before I could close my eyes for long, the noise returned. The sounds continued to come from the doorway. 0

Not only that, but I also heard footsteps in the hallway, sounding like high heels. 0

I frowned. How could there be high heels here? This was a place for boys, and girls were not allowed in the male dormitory. 0

The sound grew closer, and my heart began to race. 0

Suddenly, the sound reached my door and then stopped, as if someone had stood right outside my dorm room. 0

I swallowed hard and took a deep breath, feeling anxious. At this hour, it couldn't possibly be A Yao, and besides, A Yao wouldn't be wearing shoes. 0

Just when I didn't know what to do, a melodious female voice called out my name from outside the door. 0

In an instant, my body stiffened, and I felt a strange lightness wash over me, while my head seemed to grow heavier. 0
