After a few days of rest, both A Yao and I had recovered and returned to school, while Uncle Tiger went back to the village. As Uncle Tiger put it, the village was his roots. 0

No one knew about Feng Jie's death. Due to the sensitivity of the matter, Captain Wu requested the school leadership to keep it confidential and told everyone that Feng Jie had taken a leave of absence due to family reasons. 0

It was surprising that such an incident could happen in college, but no one seemed particularly curious or suspicious. However, I knew deep down that Feng Jie had died for me, and that was something I could never forget. 0

A Yao seemed to have sensed something was off regarding Feng Jie and continuously comforted and guided me. During this time, our relationship gradually warmed up, and life felt quite fulfilling. 0

That was until an unexpected visitor appeared. 0

One day, while A Yao and I were having lunch in the cafeteria, which was bustling with people, a woman suddenly appeared in front of me. Before I could react, she snatched my food and slammed it onto the floor with a loud crash, drawing the attention of many around us. 0

A Yao and I were momentarily stunned before I felt a surge of anger rise within me as I glared at the middle-aged woman before me. 0

I didn’t know this woman at all and had never interacted with her; I couldn’t understand why she would do such a thing. 0

I angrily asked her why she was making these accusations against me. To my surprise, she plopped down on the ground, crying out that I had bullied her and frightened her daughter. 0

Her voice was loud enough for everyone in the cafeteria to hear within moments, and whispers began to circulate among the crowd. 0

Feeling embarrassed, I confronted her about her false claims and warned her that if she continued like this, I would call the police. 0

This did not intimidate her; instead, it seemed to embolden her further. She claimed that a big man like me was threatening a lonely woman like her and asked everyone to judge my actions. 0

The people present had no idea what was happening. With the woman crying so sorrowfully from a position of perceived weakness, they began to side with her. Some even pointed fingers at me, accusing me of being shameless and calling for help from the police. 0

Before long, the police arrived. Upon seeing them, the middle-aged woman acted as if she had found support. She wiped her tears, stood up from the ground, and pointed at me while accusingly telling the officers that I had killed her daughter and demanded they arrest me because I was a murderer. 0

At that moment, the police officer's gaze towards me changed, and he immediately handcuffed me. I was taken away in the midst of everyone's murmurs, and naturally, the middle-aged woman got into the car as well. A Yao was very anxious, repeatedly calling my name. 0

Seeing A Yao's worried expression warmed my heart, so I comforted her, telling her not to worry and that I would be back soon. 0

Upon arriving at the police station, I was treated as a criminal and subjected to questioning by the officers. I felt helpless while the middle-aged woman looked at me with an air of arrogance. Although I was furious inside, there was nothing I could do. 0

After completing the statement, the police told me to stay there and not leave, then began questioning the middle-aged woman next to me. 0

To my surprise, during her statement, the middle-aged woman mentioned me in nine out of ten sentences, insisting that I was the murderer of her daughter. 0

I was both angry and helpless as I complained to the police that I didn't even know who her daughter was, so how could I have killed her? 0

Unexpectedly, after I finished speaking, the middle-aged woman shouted at me loudly, claiming that her daughter was Feng Jie. 0

In an instant, I froze, feeling a sense of speechlessness wash over me. 0

Seeing my reaction, the middle-aged woman seemed to have caught her prey and kept telling the police, "Look, he has nothing to say now! What are you waiting for? Arrest him!" 0

My unnatural reaction was misinterpreted by the police. They immediately pressed me down onto the table. At that moment, the middle-aged woman became furious and picked up something nearby to throw at me. 0

After all, there wasn't enough evidence to prove that I was a murderer. The police managed to stop her just in time, and chaos erupted in the station. 0

Just then, Captain Wu returned. Seeing the commotion, he shouted loudly, startling everyone into silence. 0

Captain Wu's gaze suddenly fell on me; he seemed surprised by my presence. He approached and noticed the handcuffs on my wrists and asked what was going on. 0

I explained everything to Captain Wu. He immediately became angry and shouted at the two officers beside him to release me quickly—did they want to be reported? 0

Just like that, I was set free. The middle-aged woman quickly reacted and grabbed my collar, shouting at Captain Wu, "How can you let this murderer go?" 0

Captain Wu's expression immediately turned serious as he warned the middle-aged woman not to cause a scene in the police station. He questioned whether she was a murderer, stating that evidence was necessary and not just her words, especially since Feng Jie was not killed by him. 0

Upon hearing this, the middle-aged woman realized that I knew Captain Wu and assumed that he had received some benefit from me, which prompted her to stop her antics and put on another act of crying and shouting. 0

Captain Wu wasn't fooled by her theatrics and ordered someone to take her away. 0

After the police escorted the woman out, I turned to Captain Wu and asked what was going on. 0

Captain Wu gave an awkward smile and said, "Little brother, this situation is our fault for not handling it properly. We couldn't get in touch with Feng Jie's family, so we informed your school about Feng Jie's death, asking them to relay the message. There might have been some miscommunication. You know, I mentioned before about the hospital losing bodies; we still have no leads on that. It's really frustrating." 0

I couldn't blame Captain Wu too much; I just had to swallow this loss. However, I was intrigued by what he had just said and asked a few more questions. 0

As he spoke about the issue, Captain Wu seemed quite troubled. He sat down on a nearby chair, took a sip of water, and said, "It's strange; ever since this hospital lost a body, they've been losing them one after another. We can't figure out what's going on. Can bodies really just disappear?" 0

I nodded and instinctively continued his train of thought, saying, "It might be possible. Look at all the strange things happening around us lately; isn't it normal for bodies to vanish into thin air?" 0

Captain Wu nodded thoughtfully, seemingly agreeing with my perspective. He then said, "Little brother, do you think you could help me get Uncle Tiger back?" 0

"No way," I interrupted Captain Wu directly. There was no chance I would involve myself in that; it would only wear Uncle Tiger out. 0

Captain Wu pouted and said, "Come on, little brother. We've both faced life and death before. How about you lend me a hand?" 0

I looked at Captain Wu incredulously before turning to walk toward the exit. 0

Captain Wu wasn't about to let me go easily; he quickly grabbed my arm and said, "Little brother, aren't you afraid of being egged by people at school? After all, that woman just made a scene in front of so many people. If you agree to help me, I promise to restore your reputation. What do you say?" 0

Captain Wu's words ignited a fire in my heart. Looking at his shameless grin made me want to punch him. 0

I had no choice but to compromise. Captain Wu cheerfully escorted me back to school and, in front of everyone, explained my innocence. 0

When A Yao saw that I had returned safely, she excitedly gave me a big hug. 0

This made my heart feel sweet, as if everything I had endured before had vanished. It made me want to cherish A Yao even more, so I asked her what gift she wanted. 0

A Yao smiled and shook her head, saying, "Wang Niu, let's go watch a movie together. Many couples have been to the cinema; it seems like we haven't gone anywhere." 0

Suddenly, I felt a pang of guilt. It seemed that after being together with A Yao for so long, we had only taken walks around school and hadn't gone anywhere fun. 0

I immediately agreed to A Yao's suggestion. She was very happy, and after booking the movie tickets, we headed to the cinema. Since it wasn't the weekend, there were very few people, but that didn't affect us. 0

After collecting our tickets, I followed A Yao into the theater. At first, there were hardly any people; A Yao and I felt quite comfortable watching the movie and could even chat a bit. However, midway through the film, suddenly a lot of people walked in. 0

This struck me as odd, and I mentioned it to A Yao. To my surprise, she gave me a big eye roll. After all, I was supposed to enjoy the movie with her; did I really want to ruin this beautiful date? 0

Of course not. I obediently watched the film with A Yao, but the longer I watched, the more something felt off. Initially, the temperature in the cinema was normal, but later it became increasingly cold, as if the season had changed. 0

I turned around to look at the people around us; their reactions were quite strange. The people sitting behind us seemed unfazed, their eyes glued to the screen, while those in front were shivering from the cold. Even A Yao began to tremble. 0

I quickly took off my jacket and offered it to A Yao to wear. Then I stood up and left my seat to find a staff member to adjust the temperature inside. 0
