After I withdrew the money with Chen Ming, we split it evenly. To be honest, it gave me a light-headed feeling; I never expected the money to come so quickly.
After saying goodbye to Chen Ming, I returned to the bank and deposited the money into my bank card. Then, I headed to the mall.
Nowadays, many girls love things like lipstick and perfume, so I went to the best counter and bought a set for A Yao. When I checked out, I realized I had spent quite a bit. Although I felt a little pain in my heart, the thought of A Yao coming back to me made it all worthwhile.
After shopping, I took a taxi back to school. Since A Yao had blocked my number, I couldn't contact her. I could only wait at the Girls' Dormitory for her to show up. However, by evening, there was still no sign of A Yao.
My heart sank as I prepared to leave when suddenly A Yao appeared. She was still with that unfamiliar man I had seen before. Without thinking, I rushed over and punched him, but to my surprise, A Yao blocked me and told me to get lost.
People around us turned to look at the commotion, and I felt a burning sensation on my face as the stranger shot me a mocking glance before getting into his car and leaving.
A Yao seemed very angry and walked straight into the dormitory. At that moment, I froze; there was a dark mist swirling around her back.
Without thinking much, my instinct was to rush into the Girls' Dormitory and pull A Yao out. However, she seemed disgusted with me and called for the Dormitory Supervisor, claiming that I was harassing her. As a result, I was taken to the Security Department by the supervisor.
Feeling helpless, I called Chen Ming to bail me out. Once we returned to the dormitory, Chen Ming asked me what happened. I told him about the dark mist surrounding A Yao.
Chen Ming looked taken aback at first and said this was not good; A Yao must be possessed by something evil. Wasn't that similar to what happened with Victim's Daughter? Sighing deeply, my heart grew heavier.
Seeing my worried expression, Chen Ming thought for a moment and said, "Wang Niu, don't worry just yet. I happen to know A Yao's roommate very well; we used to play games together often. We can ask her about A Yao's recent situation since they live in the same dorm."
I immediately perked up and urged Chen Ming to call A Yao's roommate right away. Soon enough, Chen Ming informed me that he had arranged to meet her for a face-to-face chat.
We hurried to the agreed location because this matter was urgent—it concerned A Yao's life.
When we arrived, we met A Yao's roommate—a straightforward-looking girl with a ponytail who gave off a pleasant vibe.
After politely greeting each other, I learned her name was Feng Jie.
Feng Jie said that during this time, A Yao seemed to have completely changed. She often skipped classes and was frequently out late with men, sometimes not returning to the dormitory at all. Previously, A Yao was a model student, never smoking or getting into conflicts with others. Now, everyone in the dorm had been cursed by her, and she had started exhibiting some strange behaviors.
As Feng Jie spoke, my heart tightened as I recalled the dark mist surrounding A Yao. Could it be related to this?
I continued to listen to Chen Jie as she recounted how they often heard noises coming from the bathroom late at night. When they checked, they found A Yao in the bathroom applying heavy makeup, her lips painted red. Not only that, but she was also wearing a red outfit, sitting on the windowsill and humming a bizarre tune. The people in the dorm were terrified by A Yao's behavior, and two of them had already moved out.
After hearing this, cold sweat broke out on my palms. How could A Yao have turned into this? After thanking Feng Jie, Chen Ming and I returned to our dorm. At that moment, it felt as if a thousand-pound stone was pressing down on me, making it hard to breathe.
Just then, Chen Ming's phone rang. To our surprise, it was Victim calling, saying that his daughter was in trouble again. The evil entity hadn’t left; it had returned and was causing even more chaos. He urged us to come over quickly to deal with it or he would accuse us of fraud.
Chen Ming and I were shocked and frightened. Fraud was a serious matter. We had no choice but to temporarily set aside A Yao's situation and focus on Victim's issue.
Upon arriving at Victim's neighborhood, I kept my guard up and looked around. I noticed that the sky was ominously dark, with a mass of black mist almost enveloping the entire area. I was startled; it hadn’t been like this before.
Seeing me frozen in place, Chen Ming asked what was wrong. I pointed at the sky and asked if he saw anything unusual. He glanced up and shook his head, saying he didn’t see anything.
Victim wasn’t lying; the evil entity had indeed returned. But where was the problem? We were following Uncle Tiger’s instructions precisely.
When we reached Victim's house, we found it even more terrifying. The entire building was shrouded in black mist; we couldn’t see inside at all. Even Victim stood far away from his home and hadn’t entered.
Upon seeing us, Victim lamented his situation without energy to scold us further. He urged us to resolve the issue quickly and not just take his money without following through.
Chen Ming and I could only apologize to Victim and steeled ourselves to enter the villa.
Since we couldn’t see clearly inside, I asked Chen Ming to lead me upstairs. However, before we could reach the second floor, an angry male voice shouted from one of the rooms for us to get out immediately or face death.
There was no doubt that this voice belonged to the evil entity. Chen Ming whispered to me about what we should do next—should we still go up? Our strength wasn’t enough to confront the entity; perhaps we should leave the villa first and think of another plan.
I pondered for a moment, nodded, and didn’t dare to linger. I ran out with Chen Ming, just as the villa's main door suddenly slammed shut with a loud bang, startling both me and Chen Ming.
When the Victim saw us come out, he hurriedly asked how things were. Chen Ming and I exchanged apologetic glances with the Victim and explained that the situation was complicated and would take a few days to resolve. However, as soon as I finished speaking, the Victim became displeased. He immediately took out his phone to call the police, accusing us of being frauds who had harmed his daughter. Before long, the police arrived and took us along with the Victim to the station.
Due to the peculiar nature of the case, the officer who received us was unsure how to handle it and had to consult his superior. To my surprise, I found myself face-to-face with Captain Wu again.
Captain Wu was taken aback to see me and asked how I had ended up being mistaken for a fraud. I recounted everything in detail, and Captain Wu didn’t doubt me at all; in fact, he seemed to trust me completely. He even vouched for me in front of the Victim, assuring him that I had the capability to resolve this matter and requested that the Victim give me a few days.
Thanks to Captain Wu’s guarantee, the Victim didn’t press further and left the police station.
Chen Ming sighed in relief when he saw that the Victim wasn’t pursuing the issue any longer. He then asked me when I had gotten such a powerful connection. I smiled but didn’t respond.
Captain Wu glanced at Chen Ming with an expression that suggested he wanted to say something but hesitated.
Noticing this, Chen Ming cleverly made an excuse to leave.
Captain Wu then directly asked me about Uncle Tiger. He mentioned that he had recently encountered a strange case and might need Uncle Tiger's assistance.
I looked at Captain Wu with some difficulty, unsure how to respond. After returning to the village, Uncle Tiger hadn’t taken a break; he had been busy with matters concerning my family and issues in the village. Now that he finally had some time to rest, it felt wrong to trouble him again.
Seeing my hesitation, Captain Wu understood and didn’t press further. He simply told me that if I encountered any difficulties, I could reach out to him.
