Everyone present had just undergone the trial of the ruins, and they were all well aware of the capabilities of these Robots. The difficulty of dealing with these Robots was evident, yet among the incoming Robots, there were also some unfamiliar variants.
Among the group of Number Three Robots, there were two labeled as Number Two Robots. These two Number Two Robots were even more imposing than their Number Three counterparts, with four mechanical arms instead of two. Additionally, they carried a cannon as thick as a water barrel on their backs, clearly not meant for show. The giant swords they wielded had been replaced by massive cleavers measuring four to five meters in length.
The most critical aspect was that one of their mechanical arms was equipped with a familiar reflective cannon, while the other held a giant shield that had never been seen before. It was evident that these Number Two Robots possessed enhanced combat capabilities; the cleavers offered increased reach and power compared to the mechanical swords, while the reflective cannon could deflect energy-based attacks. Coupled with the evidently formidable defense of the giant shield, these Number Two Robots were clearly combat maniacs.
"Everyone, look! I've seen these two before, flanking the main hall in the imperial city. My mechanical energy gauntlets left no dents on them at full power! Look at the right side of that one’s chest!" Cao Man pointed at one of the Robots in mid-air.
Indeed, there were two long scratches on the right side of the Robot's chest, clearly made by Cao Man's gauntlets. In contrast, Davis's lance had shattered upon impact, leaving only those scratches as evidence of its strength. Most importantly, through the head of the Number Two Robot, it could be seen that the talisman controlling it was protected within its helmet.
If this Robot's entire body was as sturdy as its chest, then perhaps dismembering it would be the only solution. However, while the members of the Metaphysics Society discussed how to deal with these Robots, new factions and members from the Divine Descent Society and Church were busy strategizing how to seize those flying mechanical weapons. After all, both Cao Man and Xiao Yefeng were clearly wielding weapons obtained from this very place.
Everyone knew about Cao Man's iron fists; however, Xiao Yefeng had just unleashed a Qi attack that resembled a blade of wind. This showcased the unique nature of these mechanical weapons. It seemed unlikely that they would obtain the Heart of Civilization during this trip to Atlantis, but acquiring a few mechanical weapons wouldn’t be too bad either! With dozens of weapons flying around now, grabbing just one would be worth it!
With these thoughts in mind, members from the new faction and Divine Descent Society showcased their abilities and rushed into the air. At this moment, they disregarded what type of weapon it was; they simply aimed to grab whatever they could. Meanwhile, members from the Metaphysics Society, Church, and White Robed Man shouted in unison: "Fools!"
Cao Man had spent so long finding five weapons that could be taken away, and each time he did so involved evading pursuit from Robots. What appeared to be an abundance of treasures was not so easily acquired.
As expected, reality proved this point. A late-stage Viscount vampire from the Divine Descent Society reached for a short sword; however, just as his fingers brushed against it, a massive cleaver flew in and sliced him in half. Fortunately for him, his reflexes were quick enough to save his life at the cost of his right arm.
Similar situations unfolded simultaneously from other directions; however, others weren't so fortunate. In an instant, the Divine Descent Society lost a Silver-Maned Werewolf and a Viscount-level vampire; another member lost an arm. On the new faction’s side, a Sorcerer was decapitated instantly while a ninja from Wa Country met a gruesome end. However, this peak Jonin showcased his abilities to everyone.
Moreover, he revealed a weakness in one of the Number Two Robots—perhaps he died for a good cause! The ninja reached for a large hammer but was swept away by a cleaver from the Number Two Robot. Utilizing his substitution technique, he replaced himself with a large stone; however, he successfully grabbed hold of the hammer. Yet at that moment, instead of swiftly using its cleaver to finish off the ninja who had been left vulnerable after substituting with stone, the Robot struggled to lift its giant shield arm.
The shield came crashing down along with both hammer and ninja onto the ground. The bloodied hammer flew into the air while the ninja was reduced to mere chunks of flesh. This moment made it clear to those remaining: although these Robots were powerful, they lacked intelligence. Just moments ago, if it had simply swung back its cleaver to shatter the stone instead of following through with its programmed attack using another method against the ninja, it could have easily killed him—this was a flaw and an opportunity.
At that moment, all the Number Three Robots landed with a thunderous roar. Twenty-seven Number Three Robots descended, and immediately after their landing, two Number Two Robots positioned themselves beside the Cube, wielding large cleavers to guard all directions around it. Clearly, they were the final protectors of the Cube!
It wasn't that everyone was slow to react; rather, the Robots moved too quickly. Before the Metaphysics Society, the Church, and even the White Robed Man could make a move to seize it, the Number Two Robots had already surrounded the Cube.
"Quickly eliminate all the Robots! Azure Maiden, we must act before the Heart of Civilization completes its transformation. If we can't subdue it in time, unimaginable changes will occur!" Li Xiangjun shouted as she charged toward the approaching Robots.
On another front, Davis added, "Hurry and take down these machines! If Lord Xius doesn't swiftly eliminate them, we'll be in serious trouble! Moreover, if we want to leave alive, we must clear all these machines; only then will the gateway back to the modern world appear!"
Davis's words jolted the remaining new forces and members of the Divine Descent Society into action. After all, these individuals had previously defeated Unit Three machines. Although the twenty-seven Robots were protecting each other, their increased numbers also provided an advantage. While they might not coordinate perfectly, allies could still work together effectively. Soon enough, the Robots lost their ability to resist and collapsed to the ground.
However, at that moment, the Cube in the air continued to disassemble and transform. The originally six-faced Cube had morphed into a bizarre shape covered in spikes and sharp angles. Surrounding it, Qi pulsated rhythmically like a heartbeat.
Meanwhile, two Number Two Robots remained motionless beside the Heart of Civilization. The previously dismantled Unit Three machines seemed inconsequential now. Standing before the two Unit Two machines, everyone was on high alert and defensive. What puzzled them most was that countless hovering mechanical weapons continued to circle above them. Although they posed no immediate threat, their unknown nature kept everyone on edge.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
A series of heartbeat-like sounds emanated from the Heart of Civilization. Suddenly, the dim eyes of the two Number Two Robots lit up. The four cleavers raised abruptly; their handles crossed to form a double-edged sword. In an instant, one of the Number Two Robots grasped where the blades met and began spinning rapidly. The centrifugal force generated by this high-speed rotation was akin to a twelve-level whirlwind, causing everyone nearby to scramble for cover.
As they neared the center of this swirling vortex, people's clothes began to show signs of being swept by blades; some had even sustained injuries. Clearly, the two Unit Two machines were drawing in everyone around them—anyone caught in their storm would be reduced to mere fragments in an instant.
"This is bad!" Liu Entai exclaimed as he clutched a stone pillar that suddenly broke under the pulling force, sending him flying toward the storm.
With a clang! The sword's blade embedded itself deep into the rock of the royal plaza. Xiao Yefeng gripped its hilt with one hand while reaching out with his other hand to catch Liu Entai as he soared past. Their hands clasped together formed an upward human flagpole with only one anchor point: the Mechanical Longsword embedded in the ground.
"Never let go! The storm is about to end!" Cao Man lay on the ground, his body pressed against a massive stone pillar. At that moment, the two Number Two Robots were indeed gradually slowing their spinning, just as Cao Man had said; if they could hold on for just a little longer, they would surely escape the crisis.
However, hope was fleeting, and human interference was unavoidable. Just as the storm was about to cease, a dagger wrapped in Holy Light Power shot in from afar, aimed directly at the hand gripping the sword's hilt.
"Die! Pay for my disciple's life!" roared the owner of the dagger.
In that instant, Cao Man erupted in fury, standing tall against the raging wind and launching his fists toward the incoming dagger. Yet Davis had already calculated this move; Cao Man's fist swept through the air but was half a second too slow, and the dagger had already passed in front of him.
"Davis, I, Cao Man, will definitely kill you!" Cao Man's aura sank as he stood up, using his energy to resist the pull of gravity. However, he could not stop the dagger now. At that moment, Liu Entai saw the dagger approaching and immediately released his grip in despair. Xiao Yefeng focused on self-preservation; without his own tethering force, he would surely be able to evade this attack.
Yet Xiao Yefeng did not let go. In an instant, he activated his Gene Warrior state; intricate scales appeared on his skin as the Carefree Vitality Technique began to circulate. The Symbol Bone on his right arm shimmered with light.
"Zing!" The blade pierced into him; the dagger's tip penetrated through his scaled armor activated by his gene state. His enhanced muscles and bones absorbed the impact of the blade. Originally aimed at Xiao Yefeng's throat, it was instead redirected to his arm as he forcefully pulled Liu Entai away from danger. In that moment, Xiao Yefeng paid for his injury but escaped death.
As the storm dissipated, Liu Entai landed in front of Xiao Yefeng. Xiao Yefeng quickly performed Intercepting Finger to seal off blood flow in his right arm, stopping the bleeding before swiftly drawing out the exquisite dagger.
Meanwhile, at that very moment when the storm vanished, Cao Man charged into the Church's ranks. His iron fists glowed with golden light as he struck down a blocking paladin with a powerful punch. He then lunged toward Davis, landing a heavy blow on Davis's chest. Davis flickered with holy light as he braced against this punch but retaliated with a kick aimed at Cao Man's chest. Although Cao Man managed to block it, he was forced back by the impact; retreating was necessary as Davis's lance was about to strike.
Having failed to kill Xiao Yefeng with one blow, Davis realized he had lost his chance. With Cao Man charging at him, he understood his mistake; Cao Man was more than capable of holding him back. What would happen to the other Church members? But at that moment, Cao Man was like an enraged lion, raining down punches like a torrential downpour while Davis's lance proved inferior to Cao Man's fists in quality.
