After overcoming Bald Qiang's last line of defense, the door leading inside was right before them. Through Observer's Eye, Xiao Yefeng quickly noticed at least ten people behind the door holding guns waiting for someone outside to open it. Time was of the essence; Xiao Yefeng and Jiang Xing chose to launch an assault. They took a machine gun from another member of the Metaphysics Society and after switching out magazines, Xiao Yefeng grabbed a flashbang and swiftly pulled its pin.
With Xiao Yefeng's immense strength, the flashbang shattered two layers of bulletproof glass. A burst of white light erupted behind the door accompanied by cries of panic. Seizing this moment, Xiao Yefeng darted inside; his hands moved rapidly as he executed Intercepting Finger technique. In an instant when the effects of the flashbang faded, everyone guarding the door collapsed to the ground as their central nervous systems were severed by Intercepting Finger—rendering them unconscious for some time.
It could be considered a way to save the members of the Metaphysics Society some handcuffs and medical expenses! As Xiao Yefeng led the charge, he subdued his opponents without injury. If he couldn't, he would take them down with a single shot. Finally, the familiar room appeared before him! At that moment, under the gaze of his Observer's Eye, he saw six people inside: five practitioners and one ordinary person—just the right number!
Suddenly, the door burst open, and a hail of bullets flew in. Fortunately, Xiao Yefeng and his companions reacted quickly, dodging just in time. The bullets ricocheted off the walls and fell silent. After a moment of contemplation, Xiao Yefeng realized something was wrong! He kicked open the door, and the scene inside came into view. There were not six people as expected; only one remained—a smiling old man holding an empty submachine gun. It was Zhang Xiuhong!
The other five sources of Yang energy were represented by five Yellow Talismans, each containing a strand of hair from one of the missing individuals. Clearly, Xiao Yefeng's Observer's Eye had been deceived. Not to mention Jiang Xing and the others' insights under their Yin-Yang Eye.
"Where are they?" At that moment, Fu Cheng was driven to madness. He was responsible for guarding them, yet these people had vanished without a sound. This left him struggling to face Jiang Xing.
"Haha! You won't catch my son! Old Zhu is a deity; he can fly away! Just wait; a new era is about to arrive!" Zhang Xiuhong sat on the sofa, muttering nonsensical things. After searching the room thoroughly, they found no secret passages.
"How could this be?" Fu Cheng exclaimed as he scanned the area in agitation.
At that moment, Xiao Yefeng grabbed Zhang Xiuhong and pulled him outside. With a swift kick towards the sofa beneath Zhang Xiuhong, there was a loud crack as metal broke. The single-person sofa flipped over, revealing a narrow passage beneath it.
Seeing that the secret passage had been discovered, Zhang Xiuhong slumped to the ground while Xiao Yefeng descended into it. The members of the Metaphysics Society all followed him down the passage except for those left behind to clean up the scene. It became clear that this passage had been dug out privately and led directly to the underground sewer system. The city's prosperity concealed all its underground filth; at that moment, some realized just how dirty these sewers truly were.
After scanning his surroundings, Xiao Yefeng indeed found fresh water marks. Without wasting any time, they plunged into the water and pursued forward. Under his Observer's Eye, navigating through the underground posed no obstacles for Xiao Yefeng. After several twists and turns, they encountered two sources of Yang energy from True Spirit Realm practitioners ahead. However, after experiencing interference from Yellow Talismans in the bar earlier, Xiao Yefeng had begun to doubt his sensing abilities.
At this point, Jiang Xing called for everyone to halt their advance. With a wave of his hand, two bolts of lightning pierced through the walls and struck the Yang energy sources behind them. Once again, it turned out to be an illusion; as the Yellow Talismans shattered, they were temporarily obstructed.
Though frustrated, they couldn't afford to be careless. Continuing their pursuit through stalactite arches, they soon reached their first fork in the path. After some discussion among them, Jiang Xing led ten people to pursue left while Xiao Yefeng took the remaining ten to go right. Fu Cheng followed Xiao Yefeng since Jiang Xing was at a higher realm; he wouldn't be at a disadvantage in battle.
However, everyone underestimated the twists and turns of the sewer and the escape speed of Zhu Feng and his companions. After passing through three forks and splitting up to pursue them three times, only two members of the Metaphysics Society remained behind Xiao Yefeng. Looking around, it was clear that the five from the opposing side had already scattered. After navigating through several turns, Xiao Yefeng finally led his two companions to one of their exit points!
Climbing up the ladder, Xiao Yefeng was the first to emerge from the sewer. To his surprise, he found himself in the outskirts of Hangzhou, at the very spot where he had initially defeated Zhu Ganglie. The abandoned warehouse was not far away, and just then, the other two appeared one after another. The three of them began a fan-shaped search, heading toward the direction where the footprints had disappeared.
At that moment, two gunshots rang out. The two members of the Metaphysics Society fell to the ground after being shot. Fortunately, both were skilled enough to dodge upon hearing the gunfire, sustaining only superficial wounds. However, their ability to retaliate was still affected.
The gunshots had already revealed their position on the roof of the abandoned warehouse! Almost instantly, as the two shooters turned their guns toward the boulder where the three were hiding, a dark muzzle suddenly emerged from the lower right side of the boulder. A rapid series of gunfire erupted, instantly silencing the two shooters who had held a positional advantage. There was no doubt about the marksmanship of the shooter.
The shooter was none other than Xiao Yefeng. Although one of his injured companions could not continue keeping pace with him due to a foot injury, he left them behind after signaling for help and made his way alone toward the abandoned warehouse in darkness.
At that moment, a car engine roared from within the abandoned warehouse. It was unclear which of the five intended to escape by car! Therefore, Xiao Yefeng positioned himself right outside the warehouse door. Last time, he had let Bigfoot from Evil Wolf Squad escape due to their flashbangs and strong bulletproof capabilities; today, he did not believe history would repeat itself.
Inside the abandoned warehouse, it was Zhu Feng who was driving. After hearing a series of gunshots followed by silence from above, Zhu Feng realized that those two useless individuals had been killed. Without hesitation, he started the car and prepared to leave; naturally, he hadn’t considered taking those left on the roof with him.
Zhu Feng stuffed a palm-sized package into his backpack but then took it out again uneasily and placed it in an inner pocket of his clothing. He zipped up that pocket securely before rearranging his clothes. With a heavy foot on the accelerator, Zhu Feng sped out through the door of the abandoned warehouse. He knew there were pursuers from the Metaphysics Society outside and that driving out would make him an easy target; however, at this moment, driving was his only option. Zhu Feng was gambling on whether or not his pursuers could hit a speeding car.
Just as his car burst through the door, Xiao Yefeng—hidden outside—locked onto one of its rear tires. A single shot rang out as he blew out a tire; instantly, the car began to skid sideways. Gritting his teeth, Zhu Feng refused to stop and continued driving. At that moment, another gunshot echoed from behind him. Zhu Feng heard a whizzing sound and glanced at his dashboard; he saw that his fuel tank was rapidly depleting—clearly punctured by a bullet.
