The night was as dark as ink, and Daiyi town seemed to have lost its usual liveliness in this quiet night. Every house was immersed in a dimness. There were few pedestrians on the street, only a few hurried figures passing under the street lights, their steps quick and their faces showing obvious worry. This unusual calm and tension seemed to remind every resident that tonight, Daiyi town was no longer safe.
Mayor Eldrick and the sheriff walked slowly along the dimly lit streets towards the location of the the Tesnan family. Under the street lights, the light in the ancient lampshades trembled incessantly, as if resisting the surrounding darkness. Though faint, these lights were like guardians in the night, illuminating their path forward.
"Chief, do you think this is really the work of a monster?" Mayor Eldrick's voice carried a hint of uncertainty, his eyes scanning the darkness around him, as if searching for any potential threats.
The chief sighed, his eyes filled with complex emotions. "I don't know, Mayor. But in our small town, such things have never happened before. This is a serious warning, caused by whoever or whatever it may be."
They slowly approached the the Tesnan family. Every house on the street was unusually quiet, as if the whole town was holding its breath. When they arrived at the the Tesnan family's door, a strong smell of blood hit them, sending shivers down their spines. The smell spread in the night breeze, mingling with the surrounding air, creating an unbearable atmosphere.
The entrance to the the Tesnan family was surrounded by warning signs, prohibiting unauthorized entry. Two guards stood at the door, their faces filled with seriousness and vigilance. As the mayor and the police chief approached, the guards immediately became tense, but quickly relaxed upon recognizing them.
"Good evening, Mayor, Chief." A security guard said in a low voice, with a hint of trembling in his voice.
"Good evening." The Mayor nodded, his gaze piercing through the doorway, trying to glimpse the situation inside. "How is the situation at the scene? Have you found any new clues?"
"There's nothing yet, Mayor," another guard replied, his eyes filled with obvious fear. "The situation at the scene is very bad, and we are still working hard to collect evidence."
The mayor took a deep breath and slowly walked through the gates of the the Tesnan family. His footsteps sounded unusually clear in the silent night. He knew that an unbearable truth awaited him, but for the safety of Daiyi town, he had to face it all.
When Mayor Eldrick and the sheriff slowly stepped into the doorway of the the Tesnan family, they found a typical family living room with furniture scattered about, indicating a sudden disaster. On the wall hung a family photo of Tesnan with smiles all around, creating a stark contrast with the grim scene before them. Their steps were extremely cautious, as if each one could touch upon some traces that should not be touched. The night breeze brought a chill, along with the unbearable smell of blood.
The mayor and the sheriff witnessed a heartbreaking scene: the body of Tesnan lay face down near the doorway, his body unnaturally twisted, emitting a strong smell of blood. Strangely, there were no obvious signs of struggle near the doorway, suggesting that Tesnan may have been swiftly struck fatally without any defense.
The mayor squatted down, his gaze fixed on the remains of the Tesnan. His eyes were filled with sadness and sympathy. He closed his eyes and silently prayed for the unfortunate soul. The sheriff also squatted down and turned to the police officer who was carefully documenting the scene.
"Is this the body of Mr. Tesnan?" The sheriff's voice was low and full of respect.
The police nodded, his voice tinged with sorrow, "Yes, Chief. Mr. Tesnan should be the first victim. Based on our preliminary assessment, his death was very rapid. The perpetrator's methods were extremely precise and efficient."
The police carefully pointed to the wound on Tesnan's chest, "This is the fatal wound, a roughly five-centimeter piercing wound located in the front chest. From the angle of the wound, the attacker seems to be very familiar with the lethal parts of the human body. In addition, there is another wound located at his left kidney in the lower back, seemingly inflicted after the fatal blow."
This description left both the mayor and the police chief speechless. Such precise and brutal methods did not seem like something an ordinary person could achieve. It further reinforced the police chief's earlier statement that the perpetrator was likely not human, but rather some kind of being with extraordinary abilities.
"This... this is just too terrifying," the mayor said in a low voice, his tone filled with uncontrollable anger and sadness. " Tesnan, a whole family, they should not have suffered such a fate."
The sheriff stood up quietly, determination shining in his eyes. "We must find the culprit, not only for the the Tesnan family, but also to protect our townspeople. Whether human or monster, they cannot escape justice."
The mayor nodded, standing up with a firm gaze. "Yes, sheriff. We will make sure of that. Our town cannot be ruled by fear."
Next, Mayor Eldrick and the sheriff continued to delve into the the Tesnan family, where they found the kitchen area behind the living room on the first floor in a state of chaos. The dishes were broken, food and spices were scattered on the ground, indicating a sudden melee. Most shocking of all, the back door of the kitchen seemed to have been violently struck by some tremendous force, with the door frame twisted and the wood boards cracked.
On the floor, a clear trail of blood led them towards the back door. As they approached the back door, they arrived at an open area, which led to a path that went to a small river. On the other side was the edge of the Shadowy Forest, with tall and dense trees shrouded in an ominous shadow.
The mayor was about to walk to the door when he carefully looked down and suddenly kicked something on the ground. He lowered his head and found it to be a severed woman's arm, pale in color with bloodstains at the break, casually discarded on the grass. This horrifying discovery made him involuntarily shiver, lose his balance, and fall to the ground.
The sheriff immediately reacted, quickly went forward to help the mayor, and asked with concern, "Mayor, are you okay?"
The mayor calmed down a bit, shook his head to indicate that he was fine, but his eyes were filled with shock and concern: "This... this is too terrible. What happened here?"
