Living Funeral
"Damn it," I thought as I let the baby bite me. After being wrapped in red paper, the baby suddenly let out a cry, but it was an odd sound, one that made my eardrums vibrate. However, the crying didn't last long; soon the baby fell silent and became completely still.
Is it dead? I asked myself internally. It seemed that way, so I tossed the baby onto the ground.
The Ghostly Pregnant Woman continued to call for the baby, urging it to help her, but the baby could no longer move. Before long, it transformed into a wisp of black smoke and vanished without a trace. Seeing this, I finally breathed a sigh of relief. At that moment, the Yin Yang Flag in the woman's hand continued to flutter, while the Ghostly Pregnant Woman's spirit form continued to dissipate.
Time passed second by second. The Ghostly Pregnant Woman let out a roar, "You killed my child! I will not let you go!"
But despite her fury, she was already too weak to retaliate. It was then that I realized this woman still had some power left. The Ghostly Pregnant Woman was drawn into the Yin Yang Flag, and she let out one last unwilling roar.
I sighed in relief, but I could still feel blood flowing from my thigh, and my head felt a bit dizzy.
The woman approached me and asked, "Did that baby bite you?" Her expression was emotionless.
I glanced around for the Taoist priest, but he had disappeared without a trace.
"Yes, it bit me," I replied. The woman said, "Then you're finished; prepare for amputation."
What the hell? I was immediately alarmed. Amputation? I panicked and said to her, "Stop joking around! Think of something to help me!"
The woman replied, "I already thought of a way."
"What way? Amputation?"
I didn't want to joke about this kind of thing. I said to the woman, "You brought me here, so you have to take responsibility!"
The woman paused for a moment, her hair covering her entire face. I couldn't tell if she was looking at me or not. After a few seconds, she spoke, "Lift your leg."
I didn't hesitate and quickly raised my leg. The woman tore open my Patient Pants with her hands, glanced at the wound, and said, "Not too deep, thankfully."
Then she took a knife and made a cross-shaped cut on my leg. Her head leaned toward my thigh, and given the awkwardness of the bite location, anyone unaware might think she was doing something else.
Her mouth soon touched the spot where I had been bitten.
I asked, "What are you doing?" The woman didn't respond, but I quickly realized what she was doing—she was sucking out the Toxic Blood.
She inhaled and exhaled for several minutes before saying, "All done," and then ripped a strip of cloth from my pants to wrap around the wound.
She said, "It should be fine now. When you get back, apply some ash a few times, and it will heal."
I nodded, thinking to myself that this woman was indeed beautiful yet kind-hearted! She handed me the Yin Yang Flag and said, "Take this and follow me outside."
I nodded again and asked if everything here was taken care of.
The female ghost replied that everything was settled and we could leave. Holding the Yin Yang Flag, I followed her outside with my eyes closed. After about five minutes of walking, I heard a noisy commotion near my ears. I opened my eyes to see people bustling around me. I realized we had returned to the original place.
At that moment, I took out my phone to check the time—it was almost ten o'clock. I wondered how things were going with Gao Ling. With that thought in mind, I quickly called Gao Ling.
The phone connected quickly, and I asked Gao Ling, "How's it going over there?"
Gao Ling replied, "I was just about to ask you the same thing. Fei, you've been changing for quite a while now, and you haven't answered my calls."
I told Gao Ling that I had run into some issues on my end and urged her to hurry up.
Gao Ling said, "Fei, once you're done changing, come down quickly. Things are about to start here too."
I acknowledged her and asked for her exact location before heading to the hospital room to change my clothes. The woman was sitting in the room, and I couldn't help but ask, "Are you here to exorcise ghosts for the hospital? Why do the nurses here seem so afraid of you?"
After a few seconds of silence, she finally responded, "Because I can see through the filth in people's hearts. They fear me because I can see right through them."
Wow, that was unsettling. After changing into my clothes, I didn’t head downstairs immediately. Instead, I asked her, "Is the situation with the mysteriously deceased infants in the hospital resolved?"
"No, there's still a Faceless Wizard," she replied.
There really is a wizard! I thought. "Aren't you going to deal with it?" I suggested that she should go since I believed her abilities were quite strong and she could easily handle the Faceless Wizard.
However, she said she wouldn’t go. "The Ghostly Pregnant Woman has already been subdued; without her, the Faceless Wizard has lost its support. You all should go quickly."
It seemed like she knew what we were up to. But since she refused to go, I couldn’t force her. Just as I was about to leave, I ran into Nurse Wang Yan. She quickly noticed the blood flowing from my head and asked what happened.
I replied, "It's nothing."
But Nurse Wang Yan insisted, "Nothing? Let me help you bandage it."
I said, "Forget it, I have urgent matters to attend to," but Wang Yan replied, "I'll help you bandage it for free. I won't tell the hospital to charge you." I paused for a moment and said, "Alright then."
Wang Yan quickly and skillfully bandaged my injury and asked where I had gotten hurt. I didn't have time to chat with Wang Yan, so I simply said, "I fell."
After the bandaging was done, I rushed downstairs, and at that moment, Gao Ling called me again.
As soon as I answered the phone, before Gao Ling could say anything, I blurted out, "Are you in a hurry to reincarnate?" Gao Ling was taken aback for a moment before responding, "Fei, can you move a bit faster?"
By the time Gao Ling spoke, I had already exited the hospital building. My foot still hurt a little, but I couldn't ignore Gao Ling's urgency! When I reached downstairs, I was panting heavily.
Gao Ling saw me and asked, "What happened to the bandage on your head?"
I replied, "Just a little accident."
Gao Qing looked at me for a moment without saying anything. After a pause, she said, "Let's go."
Zhao Fan walked over and touched my head. I looked at Zhao Fan in surprise. Zhao Fan had a puzzled expression and said, "What are you doing?"
Zhao Fan awkwardly chuckled a few times and replied, "It's nothing; I just wanted to touch it."
What kind of excuse is that? But I didn't bother to argue with him. We quickly made our way to the garage and went upstairs through the side door. It seemed like Black Dog was unusually quiet today.
As the four of us crept upstairs, we heard a voice. He had been there all along—what was going on? What should we do?
The voice was somewhat rough, yet familiar. Zhao Fan immediately reacted, saying, "Isn't this Ouyang..."
I quickly gestured for Zhao Fan to be quiet, but his voice clearly attracted the attention of those inside. A voice from within asked, "Who is it? Is someone outside?"
We became a bit tense, and at that moment, Gao Ling even started to mimic a cat's meow. However, after just two meows, the Black Dog inside began to bark furiously.
As the saying goes, cats and dogs are natural enemies from past lives; so when the cat meowed, the dog got angry.
It was clear that Director Ouyang was inside, but could Director Ouyang be the Faceless Wizard? That was impossible; at that time, Director Ouyang was with us in the monitoring room watching the surveillance footage.
Moreover, the figure of the Faceless Wizard did not resemble Director Ouyang's plump physique, which left me feeling somewhat puzzled.
Director Ouyang's voice rang out from within, currently scolding the Black Dog and telling it to stop barking.
One of the Black Dogs ignored him and let out a pitiful cry before everything fell silent.
Director Ouyang continued, "What should we do now? I originally thought we had invited a bunch of useless people, but unexpectedly they managed to kill the Pregnant Ghost Lady. What do we do now?"
At first, I thought Director Ouyang was talking to himself. Just then, a pleasant and melodious voice chimed in, saying, "Why are you panicking?"
