Living Funeral
In an instant, I was furious...
Tilting my head slightly, I realized the coffin was quite spacious; two people could lie side by side. But suddenly, I felt a sharp bite on my earlobe. Without a second thought, I knew who it was.
I felt as if I had plunged into an ice cellar, a chill running through me.
I cursed, "What the hell are you doing trapping me in this coffin? And what did you do to Gao Ling?"
Ghost Old Three snorted a few times and said, "Don't worry, Gao is fine. He was just too noisy, so I knocked him out. His father is still alive, so I wouldn't dare do anything to him. As for trapping you, it's just to prevent you from pulling any tricks later."
A wooden stick had appeared horizontally in the coffin, pressing against my chest and restricting my movements.
Damn it, this was clearly premeditated. The female corpse felt almost alive; she had just bitten my earlobe. If I had to spend the night like this and somehow survived, it would truly be a miracle!
I tried to struggle, but it was futile. Even when the coffin shook, it didn’t help much.
Seeing the coffin move, Ghost Old Three hurried over. "Brother, do you really want to risk your life and that of the female ghost?" His face now bore a sinister expression, looking far more terrifying than before; the previous naive look had vanished completely.
He was threatening me.
Of course, I wasn’t going to comply easily. Damn it, I was afraid I wouldn’t make it through the night.
After struggling for a while, the Taoist appeared beside me and said, "Don't be afraid."
Looking at the Taoist gave me some reassurance. I blurted out, "What should we do now?" Initially aimed at the Taoist, but Ghost Old Three answered instead, "Just listen to me; this way we both have a good outcome."
The Taoist instructed me, "Bite your tongue until it bleeds, keep the blood in your mouth, and then close your eyes. Don't open them unless I tell you to."
With no other options left, I could only follow the Taoist's instructions.
Damn it, biting my tongue really hurts! Let me tell you, in TV dramas when someone bites their tongue to commit suicide, it's all fake. A wave of metallic sweetness quickly filled my mouth, and I didn’t swallow it but kept it there.
I tried to straighten my body to avoid getting too close to the female corpse, but it didn’t help much.
Ghost Old Three walked over, holding a measuring cylinder with a piece of wood that looked like a Spirit Tablet inserted into it. He also held a Crying Stick and glanced at me before starting to circle around me.
I took a glance at him and then closed my eyes.
Ghost Old Three began mumbling something unintelligible. With my eyes shut, I could only rely on my hearing to perceive everything outside. From the sounds, I could tell that Ghost Old Three was making three counterclockwise circles followed by three clockwise ones.
However, as he continued his mumbling, I started to feel a headache coming on.
At that moment, I sensed the female corpse moving; the two mounds on her chest seemed to be shifting. Before I knew it, her lips were pressed against my neck, and the sensation was enough to make my scalp tingle.
I was terrified… truly terrified… Even though I was a man, this situation genuinely frightened me.
Yet I forced myself not to open my eyes and twisted my body in an attempt to evade her lips. Perhaps she instinctively wanted to make contact with me; the flexibility of her body was increasing, undoubtedly guided by Ghost Old Three.
At that critical moment, my stomach churned as if my insides were about to shift positions.
Just thinking about Ghost Old Three “violating” the corpse made me feel sick, especially since the corpse he had “violated” was now kissing me. I felt like throwing up.
Having seen the Taoist before did ease some of my fear.
However, as the female corpse continued her advances on me, I gradually felt my strength draining away. My body felt like it was turning soft and weak; my breathing became heavier as if I had just finished an exhausting physical task.
The female ghost continued to make contact with me.
I began to understand; this must be a transitional process for Yang Qi. She was currently sucking away at my Yang Qi…
Thinking this way, I realized I couldn’t let her succeed so easily. I struggled against her, but my strength was waning rapidly until I could barely muster any energy to fight back…
Yang Qi was losing control rapidly.
Just then, I suddenly heard someone muttering: "People are separated by thick paper, ghosts are separated by mountains; a thousand evils cannot be conjured, ten thousand evils cannot be opened." As soon as those words fell, I suddenly heard a faint sobbing sound, followed by a piercing scream.
The scream rang right next to my ear, a jarring sound that filled me with terror.
What happened to this female corpse? How could she still make a sound? My heart dropped into my throat, and I thought, surely she has come back to life!
I almost opened my eyes, but at that moment, the Taoist's voice came through again. "Don't open your eyes; your essence will disperse."
I forced myself to suppress my curiosity and fear and kept my eyes shut.
I didn’t swallow the "Tongue Blood" in my mouth either; the atmosphere instantly turned eerie. Ghost Old Three hurried forward after hearing the scream and asked, "What happened? What’s going on?"
There was finally a hint of urgency in his voice.
Ghost Old Three's emotions became agitated as he grabbed my clothes and asked, "Did you do something?"
I still didn’t open my eyes or speak; I simply played dead. This bastard kept shaking me, but I remained silent and kept my eyes closed. Let’s see what he could do!
That was what I thought in my mind.
But soon Ghost Old Three said, "Do you think playing dead will save you? If you don’t speak soon, I’ll drain your blood..." The moment he finished that sentence, I was scared into speaking. Ghost Old Three was ruthless; I truly feared he might do something like that.
I replied, "What does it have to do with me? I didn’t do anything! You bastard! I’m cooperating with you like this, and now that something’s gone wrong, you come to blame me." My words were somewhat slurred since I had blood in my mouth.
Ghost Old Three fell silent for a moment before angrily saying, "You wouldn’t dare play tricks. Do you know what kind of incense those Three Incense Sticks were?"
I answered, how would I know?
Ghost Old Three took a deep breath and said, "Well then, let me tell you: those Three Incense Sticks were made from Corpse Oil. If nothing unexpected happened, you’ve already been poisoned by Corpse Poison. If you try any tricks, don’t expect an antidote."
I had previously heard Old Wang and Zhang Xun talking about using corpses to make Corpse Oil, but later found out that it was all a hoax. However, when Ghost Old Three suddenly mentioned it, I couldn't help but believe him, especially since I had just caught a whiff of a foul odor while holding the Three Incense Sticks.
Upon hearing Ghost Old Three's words, I immediately felt furious. "Ghost Old Three, damn your ancestors! I've been cooperating with you like this, and you still dare to scheme against me?"
Perhaps my emotions were too heightened; I accidentally swallowed the Tongue Blood in my mouth.
Ghost Old Three chuckled ominously, "Brother, as the saying goes, one must always be wary of others! I had no choice but to do this!"
It's well-known that while one should be cautious of others, the next part of that saying warns against harboring ill intentions. Yet this bastard seemed to be plotting against me at every turn!
The moment I swallowed the blood, I thought to myself that it was over. The blood was gone; I had intended to bite my tongue and draw some more, but it was too late. A hand had already gripped my cheek tightly. His fingers pressed down hard on my face, making it impossible for me to close my mouth.
"Brat," Ghost Old Three said, "you think you can play tricks with Tongue Blood? Not a chance."
I twisted my head in an attempt to break free.
But the wooden stick that had been placed across my limbs restricted my movements. With my mouth unable to close, I couldn't retrieve any Tongue Blood. At that moment, despair washed over me.
It was then that Ghost Old Three began rapidly muttering something under his breath. Finally, he spat out four words: "Summoning Order activate." Yet the corpse showed no signs of response, and nothing happened around us.
Still, I kept my eyes closed.
This was my last line of defense.
I had no idea what the Taoist was doing; panic began to swell within me.
"Ah-Hua," Ghost Old Three continued, "what are you waiting for? Now is the time." As soon as he finished speaking, the corpse beneath me began to stir violently. Its tongue extended out and started licking me, and I immediately felt a sensation of being wet.
Was I about to lose my innocence?
But at this moment, things were incredibly urgent! It seemed as though the corpse had gained consciousness.
I still couldn't bring myself to open my eyes. The corpse was all over me, and my mouth was tightly gripped, unable to close at all. Ghost Old Three said to me, "Brother, just accept your fate! Your Yin-Yang Fate has fulfilled A-Hua's wish! Consider it a way to accumulate some good karma for yourself. After you die, I will burn plenty of Joss Paper for you, so you can eat well and live comfortably down there."
Ghost Old Three spoke such nonsensical words.
Even though he was gripping my cheeks, preventing my mouth from closing and my teeth from touching my tongue, I still managed to force out, "Damn it, you son of a bitch! You’re dead, and I’m not burning paper for you!"
As soon as I finished speaking, I struggled even harder. I didn't want to sit back and wait for death; if the Taoist didn't show up, I had to fight for my own chance at survival.
But just then, Ghost Old Three suddenly withdrew his hand from my mouth and pressed down hard on my body. At that moment, I realized there was no hope left; as my Yang Qi drained away, so did my strength.
However, with his hand released, I could finally speak. A wave of immense fear engulfed me as I shouted with the last of my strength, "Taoist, save me!"
