Over there, Zhang Xun asked me, "Did you understand everything?" 0

I replied with a slight "mm," indicating that I did understand. However, the horrifying screams from Zhang Xun's side continued to capture my attention. I couldn't help but ask, "What’s that noise on your end?" 0

Before I could finish my sentence, Zhang Xun said, "That's none of your concern. Just do as I say." But right after he spoke, he suddenly let out a pained cry. 0

I wanted to say more, but the call was abruptly disconnected. 0

I called out a few times, but the earlier screams were still ringing in my ears, making my scalp tingle. 0

I thought about calling back, but I was holding the Urn in my hands. For a moment, I felt indecisive. In the end, I decided against making the call; it might just complicate things further. 0

I sat back down and glanced at the time on my phone. I was surprised to realize that it was already past three in the afternoon. 0

Holding the Urn, I felt a bit hungry. I wondered if there was any Glutinous Rice at his place. Besides, it was past three; Gao Ling should probably be out by now. 0

I walked toward Gao Ling's bedroom and knocked on the door. 0

After several knocks, Gao Ling's voice finally came from inside, saying he was sleeping. 0

I had guessed correctly; this guy was indeed a slacker. He was still asleep at this hour. I asked him, "Are you going to eat?" 0

After a long pause, Gao Ling finally replied, "Yeah! Just wait for me." 0

About five minutes later, Gao Ling emerged from his room, still wearing the same clothes. 0

After I went out with Gao Ling, he drove his not-so-great BYD and took me outside. First, I went to the market to buy Glutinous Rice, and then I bought some incense and Joss Paper. 0

When we got back home, Gao Ling said to me, "Buddy, are you just going to leave the Urn like that?" 0

I nodded in agreement. 0

But Gao Ling continued, "The buddy who told you to leave it like that probably wants to harm you." I looked at Gao Ling in surprise. 0

He had a nonchalant expression, but compared to him, I was more inclined to trust Zhang Xun. 0

Gao Ling glanced back at me and said, "Brother Fei, you really shouldn't doubt me. My family deals with this kind of stuff; how could I not understand a bit? Using Glutinous Rice to ward off evil is correct, but you're using it in the wrong place. When things reach their extreme, they will reverse. Keeping the Evil Energy trapped in this Urn means that if something goes wrong, you're doomed! On the contrary, if you bury this Urn soon and perform a Ritual, it might ensure you a worry-free life!" 0

Gao Ling tried to reach for the Urn again, but I dodged away. 0

I wasn't sure if what Gao Ling said was true or not, but his tone made it sound plausible. 0

Seeing me avoid him, Gao Ling didn't press the issue further. 0

He looked at me with confusion. 0

In fact, this Urn was something Zhang Xun had advised against letting anyone else touch. Although Zhang Xun was young, Old Wang held him in high regard, which spoke volumes about Zhang Xun's abilities. 0

Then Gao Ling added, "It's my uncle who doesn't want me touching your Urn, right?" 0

I nodded slightly without denying it. Using his uncle as a shield should carry some weight. 0

However, what surprised me was that Gao Ling followed up with another statement: "But my uncle isn't exactly a good person either; you can't be sure he'll bring you any good fortune." 0

Gao Ling smiled and then said, "I was just joking; you don't have to take it seriously!" 0

I replied with a simple "mm," thinking that he must be joking. After all, who would slander their own uncle in front of someone else? 0

Gao Ling handed me a cigarette, and I took it and lit it up. 0

However, I suddenly felt that something about Gao Ling seemed a bit off, but it was just a feeling. 0

I needed to deal with the Urn since I couldn't keep holding onto it. After confirming my room with Gao Ling once more, I stepped inside. 0

Once inside, I found an empty cardboard box and poured the Glutinous Rice into it. After that, I placed the Urn inside. 0

Zhang Xun had given me a Pouch, and I pulled it out to take a look. I was quite curious about what was inside the Pouch. 0

But now wasn't the time to open it. 0

My current situation didn't seem to have reached a critical point yet. 0

The bedroom was tidy, and there was a mirror on one wall. I sat on the bed for a while, lost in thought. Taking a deep breath, I felt a bit of pressure building up. 0

There was still no news from Old Wang; I had no idea how long I would be stuck here. 0

Zhang Xun might also be dealing with some difficulties. 0

As I pondered these thoughts, someone knocked on the door. I snapped back to reality and asked, "Who is it?" 0

Gao Ling's voice came from outside, "Who else could be in this room besides us? It's me. Do you want some fruit? I've brought some in for you." 0

I originally got up to open the door. 0

But thinking about Zhang Xun's words, I hesitated and didn't go to open it. I pondered for a moment and said, "Never mind, it's fine, thank you." 0

However, Gao Ling was outside and said to me, "Hey man, you don't have to be polite with me. The fruit is on the table; just help yourself." 0

I replied with a simple "Okay." 0

After hearing Gao Ling's footsteps fade away, I finally opened the door and stepped outside. 0

Gao Ling was sitting in the living room watching TV. After I came out, he pointed to the location of the fruit. I walked over and took a piece. After taking a bite, I felt a chill behind me, as if someone was right next to me. 0

I turned around but found nothing there. 0

I felt a bit anxious; I still remembered the girl's words and that look in her eyes—especially the phrase "I will always follow you." 0

I glanced around, but just then, Gao Ling cursed, "Damn it, here it comes again." 0

Hearing Gao Ling's shout, he continued, "A new tenant moved in upstairs, and it's haunting us every night with their ghostly wails. Just wait and listen." 0

I didn't think much of it; after all, I wouldn't be able to sleep until after midnight anyway. 0

After eating another piece of fruit, I went to take a shower. 0

After taking a shower, I greeted Gao Ling and went to my room. Lying on my bed, I looked at the urn and felt a strange discomfort in my heart. 0

I flipped through the news, waiting for midnight to arrive. However, as time passed, I still didn't hear the noise that Gao Ling had mentioned! 0

Since I had taken a long nap in the afternoon, I wasn't feeling sleepy at all. 0

When it struck midnight, I began to burn incense—three sticks this time. Thankfully, there was no occurrence of two short and one long stick this time. 0

I inexplicably felt relieved and opened the window for some fresh air. 0

Then, I lay back down on my bed, preparing to sleep. 0

I squinted my eyes but didn't know why. Even after it was past one in the morning, I still couldn't fall asleep. 0

Just then, a knock on the door startled me. I quickly turned on the light and asked who it was. 0

Outside, I heard a voice say, "It's me." I recognized it as Gao Ling's voice. 0

I asked, "Is something wrong?" 0

But Gao Ling replied, "You're not asleep either? Were you disturbed by the noise from upstairs?" 0

I was taken aback. There was no noise at all! I honestly told her that I hadn't heard anything. 0

Gao Ling insisted, "How is that possible? Such loud noise and you didn't hear it? It's a guy and a girl singing! Dude, you can't be deaf, right?" 0

Gao Ling seemed quite serious, but I didn't hear anything at all. So I replied, "There's nothing going on!" 0

Gao Ling insisted, "Open the door, and I'll take you up to see for yourself." 0

I said, "Forget it, I want to sleep. If there's something important, let me know later." Gao Ling sighed at the door and said, "Fine, we'll just endure them for one night." 0

I thought to myself, is Gao Ling losing his mind? There’s clearly no noise; why does he think there is? And he keeps insisting that I open the door. Could it be that he overheard my conversation with Zhang Xun and wants me to open up? 0

I quickly dismissed that idea; the sound of a phone call shouldn't be eavesdropped on. 0

But this Gao Ling... I shook my head in denial again. 0

At that moment, I closed my eyes and was starting to drift off to sleep when I suddenly felt as if someone was standing right by my bed. 0

I jolted awake and saw a shadow... 0
