A military officer shouted loudly. His tone was not overly harsh, but his imposing presence would make ordinary people take a couple of steps back in fear.
However, the newcomer stood firm and reached into his robe, pulling out a document. "I am Han Huang, a disciple of Hundred Schools Academy, here at the invitation of Cloud Emperor to serve in the court."
Upon hearing the surname Han and Hundred Schools Academy, the officer's eyes lit up. In recent months, several disciples from Hundred Schools Academy had come to this border area, all of whom were warmly received by General Wang Gui. Regardless of whether those individuals would stay in the country, they had at least provided valuable suggestions regarding border defense.
Given that this was another disciple from Hundred Schools Academy and from the Han Clan no less, the officer naturally did not dare to neglect him.

Han Huang shook his head and said, "There is no token, but I have fought alongside the Cloud Emperor. If the soldiers report this, they should be able to verify my identity. Until then, I can wait outside for a few days. Please have the soldiers relay this message."
"There is no need for that, sir. Regardless of whether it is an invitation from the Lord, as a student of the Hundred Schools Academy, you are naturally welcome within our Cloud Nation. However, I ask that you please wait for a few days at General Wang's location."
"Very well! I appreciate your guidance."
"Please follow me!"
Han Huang approached the officer and cupped his hands in greeting. "May I ask your esteemed name?"
There was a hint of curiosity in his eyes. It was known that at the entrance of this military camp, even an officer could merely be a Captain or a Commander of a hundred men. Yet from their first meeting until now, he felt both the imposing presence of a soldier and the courtesy of a scholar emanating from this officer.
Such demeanor could maintain national etiquette even when facing ministers from other countries, aside from the difference in status. This certainly indicated that he was a person of talent; how could he only be a gatekeeper?
"I dare not claim such honor. My surname is Hong, with the given name Jian. It is an honor to meet you, Mr. Hwang."
Han Huang nodded but was captivated by the military camp before him.
In his view, the camp stretched for miles with countless tents; it appeared chaotic and lacked walls, yet there was an aura of danger akin to a tiger's den. Any army that thought they could charge in without defenses would surely be swallowed whole by this tiger's mouth.
He had no doubt that hidden within were lethal traps.
"May I ask who commands this place? Is there any renowned general here?"
"Haha! The Lord has not appointed any Marshal within Cloud Nation at present. This area is under the command of General Wang Gui, who has been granted the title of Grand General of the North by the Lord."
"Wang Gui? Is the position of Marshal reserved for Mu Shuai?"
Hong Jian's eyes widened in surprise, instantly filled with admiration.
“Ha ha! Your wisdom is unmatched, sir. If only you could assist me, great achievements would be within reach.” A general rode in with several personal guards.
He laughed from a distance and, upon approaching, immediately dismounted and clasped his hands in greeting. “I am Liu Shoujia, sent by the Great General to welcome Mr. Hwang. Please follow me to the Great General's tent.”
“Thank you for your trouble, General Liu.”
“Ha ha! May I ask how you were able to deduce so quickly that the position of Cloud Emperor Marshal is reserved for Mu Shuai and not anyone else?” Liu Shoujia asked as they walked.
“Hmm! The Yue Family Army has allied with the Cloud Nation but lacks a Marshal. It seems Mu Shuai is not within the Cloud Nation. And since Mu Shuai is absent, yet the Yue Family Army is willing to stay, it must be that the Cloud Emperor cannot bear to have Mu Shuai's hands stained with the blood of the people. The Yue Family Army is likely waiting for Mu Shuai’s return.”
“Your wisdom rivals that of the Peerless Demon Master; I am deeply impressed,” Liu Shoujia replied.
Han Huang shook his head slightly and said, “General, you flatter me. With Mu Shuai's ability to command troops, it seems only the Cloud Emperor possesses such feelings and would allow Mu Shuai to leave.”
“The Lord is wise!”
Far away in Cloud City, Lian Yun found himself unexpectedly celebrated.
