Chapter 54 Demon Emperor Emperor Yi
Having originally possessed trillions of Imperial Coins, Lian Yun felt as if a great weight had been lifted from his heart. He planned to enjoy a few leisurely days in Yin Yang City before departing easily.
However, Li Si's statement about a great emperor wanting to see him plunged Lian Yun's mood into the depths of despair.
"May I ask, Brother Li, which great emperor are you referring to?"
"Hehe! Who do you think it might be, Yun Di?"
Li Si seemed to be in quite a good mood, his eyes narrowing slightly with amusement as he joked with Lian Yun.
Yet Lian Yun had no inclination to joke with Li Si. He could only shake his head helplessly and say, "If we’re talking about great emperors, then the Azure Dragon Senior is the only one I’ve ever met! But judging by your tone, Brother Li, it’s clearly not the Azure Dragon Senior."
"And if you have a great emperor in mind, then it can't be the Eternal Emperor. How could I possibly guess who it is? Could it be the Peerless Demon Master?"
Lian Yun asked tentatively.
Seeing Li Si shake his head, Lian Yun suddenly felt both joy and sorrow.
The joy came from the strength of Huaxia; with the Eternal Emperor, the Peerless Demon Master, and that Azure Dragon, Huaxia already possessed the Three Great Emperors. They had formidable power to contend with the Demon Realm.
However, if the Demon Emperor from the Demon Realm was not coming to Yin Yang City, and if it wasn’t one of these Three Great Emperors, did that mean there was another unknown great emperor within the Huaxia Ethnicity?
If that were true, it would indeed be a momentous occasion for the entire nation.
What troubled Lian Yun was not knowing who this great emperor was and why he wanted to see him.
However, Lian Yun quickly dismissed any distractions. Since the other party wanted to see him, he would go and meet them.
Thus, Lian Yun clasped his hands and asked, "May I ask where the Great Emperor is currently and when he would be willing to meet me?"
"Right now!" came the reply. "I will take you there."
"The Imperial City?" Lian Yun asked tentatively. It seemed that what would please Li Si the most was likely to have him step into the Imperial City, enter the court, and strategize for the Eternal Emperor.
Yet, Li Si smiled faintly, shaking his head as he said, "It is in the Imperial City, but not within the palace itself."
Lian Yun nodded, choosing not to ask further. He followed Li Si out of the City Lord's mansion and arrived at the Teleportation Array. They reached the Imperial City and then headed east, passing through the Central Square, moving beyond bustling areas and residential districts until they stopped in front of a humble house.
"My brother once mentioned that I received special attention from the Great Emperor. It seems now that this Great Emperor is not the Eternal Emperor, right?" Lian Yun suddenly inquired.
Although there were some proclamations suggesting that special attention was indeed from the Eternal Emperor, he had yet to receive any summons from him. Instead, it was this Great Emperor who seemed willing to reveal his identity by summoning him. This made Lian Yun reflect on the various privileges he had received since arriving in Yin Yang City, which might have been granted by this Great Emperor.
Perhaps this Great Emperor had reached some sort of agreement with the Eternal Emperor, allowing him to grow rapidly while also fulfilling conditions for leaving Yin Yang City.
Lian Yun felt that only a Great Emperor could negotiate with the Eternal Emperor, and only such power could persuade the Eternal Emperor to overlook his 'not weak' combat abilities.
Li Si smiled without answering but bowed deeply in respect to the ordinary wooden door, saying, "I am Li Si, sent by the Great Emperor to bring Cloud Emperor here."
"Come in; there is no need for excessive courtesy."
The voice was somewhat aged yet soft and gentle, lacking any trace of imperial authority. It sounded almost like a kindly old grandfather.
“Your Majesty, I take my leave.”
The words of the person inside the room were meant to invite Lian Yun and Li Si in together, but Li Si, perhaps out of concern for propriety, declined the kind offer.
Lian Yun, uncertain of what awaited him, did not press the matter. He bowed respectfully and said, “I am Lian Yun, and I humbly greet Your Majesty. I hope for your understanding in my sudden visit.”
“That’s not quite right. It was I who invited you; how could it be a sudden visit?” The person inside spoke with a gentle smile, yet there was an indescribable firmness in his tone.
Though his attitude seemed mild, it carried an air that brooked no contradiction, yet there was no hint of coercion.
Feeling somewhat intrigued, Lian Yun bowed again and said, “I misspoke; I ask for Your Majesty’s forgiveness.”
“Ha ha! Come in! There’s no need for such formalities.”
The Emperor’s repeated insistence on the lack of need for formalities indicated he was someone who did not care much for mundane etiquette. Thus, Lian Yun felt free to enter without hesitation.
As soon as the door opened, Lian Yun was greeted by a warm breeze. Before him lay a golden expanse of rice fields, covering about three to five acres. Beside it flowed a stream, and on a hillside nearby stood an old farmer tending to a vegetable garden, all under a bright sun above.
This scene was simple and unadorned yet extraordinary. Outside Yin Yang City, plants struggled to survive; thus, rice fields were virtually nonexistent. In this place, few had the leisure to farm or labor. Therefore, this pastoral landscape was indeed a rare sight.
Of course, Lian Yun could hardly fathom how such a vast space could exist within this house; his attention was entirely captivated by the old farmer.
The old farmer appeared sun-kissed and dark-skinned. Yet in a fleeting moment, Lian Yun sensed that this old farmer was a ghostly figure—his soul seemed solidified into what resembled a real body.
If Lian Yun's Three Golden Hairs were considered tangible at first, then this old man appeared to be an entity composed of countless strands of golden hair.
In just a few steps, Lian Yun arrived behind the old man. At first, he did not disturb him, but when the old man stopped his work, Lian Yun immediately bowed and asked, "May I inquire why you summoned me, senior?"
The old man turned around, looking at Lian Yun with a kind expression. "A hundred times of baptism will allow you to recover."
This statement was somewhat perplexing and seemed rather chaotic.
However, for some reason, Lian Yun understood completely.
It meant that undergoing the baptism of the Emperor's Flowing Nectar a hundred times would restore the original effects of the Yin-Yang Stage, allowing for an entire level of strength to be gained.
If Lian Yun could reach the Peak Emperor Realm, he would possess the power of a Peak Emperor.
Even if it still had limited usage, there would be many things he could accomplish.
"May I ask your esteemed name, senior?" Although unsure why this person was interested in him, Lian Yun was now certain that since entering Yin Yang City, this old man had been watching him. As for whether the Eternal Emperor had taken notice of him, that seemed less important now.
"Haha! I have long forgotten my worldly name, but the people of Huaxia call me..."
"Emperor Yi?" In a moment of impulse, Lian Yun blurted out the name, only to be left with a look of disbelief on his face.
