Chapter 44: Filth Bug
From the words of the Insect Emperor, Lian Yun realized that the area covered by the Filth Bug had expanded significantly compared to before, meaning that the Insect Emperor alone could not handle it.

The Filth Bug struck by his fists instantly transformed into black seawater and was pushed back over a hundred meters without touching the ground. Yet more tentacles surged forth from the sides.
One of the Filth Bugs behind him managed to stab at the Insect Emperor's back but narrowly missed; its tip suddenly curved away as if avoiding him entirely.
Lian Yun understood that this was the effect of the Vibrational Force on the surface of the Insect Emperor's body, yet he did not sense any gas entering the Insect Emperor.
After half a minute, within a radius of one hundred meters, five jet-black tentacles, gleaming with a metallic sheen, erupted from a cylindrical water wall about thirty meters high.
Three of the tentacles were shattered by the Insect Emperor, while two were deflected off its back. However, they caused the Insect Emperor to lean forward, and if he wasn't careful, the remaining tentacles could pierce through his front and face.
Fortunately, the Insect Emperor was clearly experienced. He simply turned with the momentum and struck out with both fists, easily smashing all the approaching tentacles before returning to his original stance.
However, after the five special tentacles were destroyed, a mass of gas dispersed into the air, unaffected by any force or pressure, as if it had decomposed.
Yet Lian Yun knew that this gas was what was referred to as Insect Qi. As the battle dragged on, the concentration of Insect Qi in his vicinity would increase to a certain level due to the Insect Emperor's breathing or direct invasion through his skin.
If there were no unexpected incidents, this was a fixed combat pattern for the Insect Emperor—a continuous battle that repeated over a long period.

When the Insect Emperor descended to the ground, it meant that the Filth Bug could reach a length of about one hundred meters. Including the part connected to the ground, it was approximately one hundred thirty meters long. The only way to kill the Filth Bug was to attack within fifty meters above its root.
As for why the Insect Emperor chose to fight on the ground instead of at sea level, it was because, although the surface of the sea appeared calm, the waves could vary dramatically in height, with drops of thirty to fifty meters.
Sometimes, a single wave could render a full-force attack useless. An attack that seemed capable of covering a large area might have minimal actual effect. Therefore, fighting on solid ground was much more stable.
The Insect Emperor's Within a Radius of One Hundred Meters zone created a thirty-meter-high battle area. This not only allowed enough Filth Bugs to emerge but also ensured that every Filth Bug targeted would be successfully killed. This maximized both attack power and kill effectiveness.
This was a lesson learned, which the Insect Emperor passed on to Lian Yun. However, Lian Yun had his own thoughts.
The Insect Emperor's battle efficiency had reached its peak, but he could only earn one billion Imperial Coins in a month, which meant it would take about a hundred years to accumulate a trillion. If Lian Yun wanted to gather a trillion Imperial Coins, his harvest needed to be a hundred times greater than that of the Insect Emperor. Change was necessary.

Although the Soul Sword was originally gray-black, parts of it had now turned gray-yellow. The gray-yellow sections exuded an aura of decay and corruption, threatening to disintegrate at any moment.
