Chapter 2 Criminal Organization
The junior police officer finished speaking and hurriedly ran out. Captain Zhu squinted as he watched the junior officer run out. If they were able to solve this murder case, they would receive great credit.
A few minutes later, the junior police officer returned with a laptop and respectfully placed it on the desk.
Captain Zhu opened the computer and found two folders. In the first folder, there were photos taken at the scene. As he looked at the photos of the deceased, his face turned somewhat pale, and he quickly closed the folder. The other folder contained a video file. Captain Zhu clicked to play the video, and a scruffy man appeared walking to the door of Room 804. He suddenly stopped, leaned against the door, listened for two minutes, shook his head, and then entered Room 809. With a loud slap, Captain Zhu angrily closed the laptop.
"What kind of suspect is this? Is Huang Lei going crazy trying to solve the case? Is his brain filled with crap? Damn it, he's making me so angry. When Huang Lei comes back, I'll have him come to my office directly. You can leave now!"
The junior officer looked at the furious Captain Zhu, nodded in fear, and hurriedly ran out.
Captain Zhu then picked up the landline phone on the desk and dialed a number. Before the call went through, Captain Zhu hung up with a snap, then thought for a moment and dialed another number. The phone rang a few times before someone answered.
"Hello, may I ask if you are Director Feng from the municipal authorities?"
"Who is this? The director is in a meeting. I am the director's secretary. Do you have any business?"
"Oh, it's Secretary Yang! It's like this..."
Captain Zhu recounted the case to Secretary Yang and then transferred the case directly to the municipal authorities criminal investigation team.
In the meeting room of the Yang City Public Security Bureau, the first person sitting there was Li Yanping, the director of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Provincial Department. Li Yanping smiled as he looked down. He was in his forties, with dark skin, a short stature, an ordinary face, but his eyes revealed a sharpness.
Sitting in the deputy position is the director of the municipal authorities, Feng Youwei, an elderly director in his fifties with some gray hair. He has a kind face, but gives off a sense of imposing authority without anger.
Below him is the deputy director of the municipal authorities, Wang Zhonghua, in his forties with a somewhat chubby figure. He always looks at people with a smiling face, which is very much like Maitreya Buddha, a smiling tiger in disguise.
Finally, there is Liu Zhensheng, the director of the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the municipal authorities, in his thirties, tall with a square face, and a fierce look in his eyes.
Li Yanping looked at the silent few and began to speak.
"What do you all say? You've signed the agreement now, so you must have some opinions!"
Li Yanping's voice was hoarse but very magnetic. Feng Youwei met Li Yanping's gaze and smiled, though the smile was somewhat bitter.
"I'm telling you, Director Li! I feel like I've been hoodwinked onto your damn ship!"
Li Yanping smiled and said, "Feng, that's not quite right. I didn't force you, did I? You're doing this for the country."
"Director Li, I won't ask any unnecessary questions. I'm just a rough old man with no knowledge. I just want to know what the Blood Kirin Organization is all about. How can I possibly go through all those documents from different eras?"
Liu Zhensheng interjected.
Wang Zhonghua also nodded, indicating his interest in Liu Zhensheng's question. Li Yanping cleared his throat.
"Let me give you a brief overview. Eight years ago, a criminal organization called Blood Kirin suddenly emerged overseas, mainly involved in drug trafficking and occasionally carrying out assassination missions. They had been operating as fugitives abroad, but three years ago, they entered the country and have committed crimes in several provinces. Despite our three-year pursuit, we have been unable to locate their core members. Most of those we have apprehended are just small players. Last year, we captured a key member with the code name 'Mad Wolf' in Shangshi City. In the process of capturing him, we lost over twenty of our brothers."
Li Yanping finished speaking and all three of them were stunned. Feng Youwei thought for a moment and said, "I have heard about this case before. It seems that Lao Hong is in charge of this case! It's basically common knowledge within the Provincial Department, so there's no need to sign a confidentiality agreement, right? There must be something else going on here!"
Sure enough, experience counts for a lot. Director Feng immediately saw the problem and went straight to the point. Li Yanping nodded.
"It seems like the other side knows all about our every move. I suspect that we have a mole among us. I don't trust Lao Hong and the others, so I discussed it with the Provincial Department leader and we are planning a secret investigation."
Three people nodded, and that made sense. Just as they were discussing, the door of the meeting room suddenly rang. Feng Youwei glanced at Li Yanping, and Li Yanping nodded before Feng Youwei shouted, "Come in!" With a click, the door opened, and Secretary Yang walked in with a file in hand.
"Fengju, a serious murder case has occurred in Zhangfeng Township, Fengcheng District. The local police station has transferred the case to the municipal authorities. Here is the case file."
Feng Youwei looked at Secretary Yang, who took the case file and opened it with a puzzled expression, asking, "Isn't Zhangfeng Township under the jurisdiction of Fengcheng Sub-bureau? Hasn't the criminal investigation team of Fengcheng Sub-bureau been relatively idle recently? Why transfer the case to the municipal authorities?"
"Oh! It's like this, the experienced old criminal police officers from the Fengcheng Sub-bureau have all been transferred to the Provincial Department! This case is a bit tricky, so they had to seek help from the municipal authorities here."
"Tricky? Let me take a look. What kind of case is so tricky?"
Li Yanping curiously looked at the two people. Feng Youwei handed over the file. Li Yanping opened the file and flipped through it page by page, frowning as she read.
Feng Youwei saw Li Yanping's constantly changing expression and gestured for Secretary Yang to leave first. After the secretary left the meeting room, Feng Youwei turned to Li Yanping and asked, "Lao Li, do you think this case could be the work of Blood Kirin? There hasn't been a murder in Yang City for three years."
Li Yanping closed the file and began to ponder. Several people looked at him, waiting for his response. After a few minutes, Li Yanping slowly said, "It's unlikely. Based on my understanding of this organization, they always leave behind a Kirin symbol after committing a crime. Also, the founder of Blood Kirin is a woman named Blood rose, and there is no precedent of them targeting women. However, four years ago, Blood rose died in a foreign riot, and we still haven't confirmed the current leader."
"If that's the case, after Blood rose dies, the new leader won't be able to maintain the original rules. A criminal organization without boundaries in the first place, how could it possibly be so principled."
Liu Zhensheng seemed to nod in understanding after hearing this. After Liu Zhensheng finished speaking, the three people looked at him in surprise, as if to say that this rough man who usually only knows how to fight is now actually thinking about the problem. Liu Zhensheng felt a little flustered being stared at by the three of them, and awkwardly scratched his head.
"Um, did I say something wrong?"
"You're not wrong, and this possibility cannot be ruled out." Li Yanping looked at Liu Zhensheng with a relieved expression, then turned to Feng Youwei and Wang Zhonghua.
"Here's the plan! Currently, we don't have any extra manpower. Lao Wang, you organize the information of outstanding detectives from all the branches and give it to me. I'll select a few to establish a special task force to handle this case. I will personally supervise it. Perhaps it will also be useful in dealing with Blood Kirin in the future. What do you think?"
Three people nodded in agreement after hearing this, indicating that it was also a good approach. After unanimous approval, they all got up and left the meeting room to begin preparing for the work.
In the interrogation room of the Zhangfeng Township police station, two officers sat and scrutinized the unkempt Gu Jie in front of them.
A fair-looking police officer holding a notebook and pen, ready to take notes, while another officer with dark skin and a robust build rhythmically taps on the table. The fair-looking officer speaks first.
"I am Wu Yu, and this is Huang Lei. We are starting the first interrogation, and you must answer truthfully."
"Why waste words with a murderer."
Huang Lei with an impatient look interjected, "What murderer? I've never killed anyone!"
The person is called Gu Jie he looked bewildered, inexplicably taken to the police station and treated as a murderer. He felt really depressed.
"I ask you a question, you answer. I didn't ask who allowed you to speak. Every prisoner who comes in says they're innocent. Do you think I'll believe you?"
Huang Lei slammed the interrogation table and roared, "Name?"
" Gu Jie."
"Gender?"
"Can't you see it? Being forcibly brought here is already annoying enough, and now being treated as a suspect. Gu Jie stared coldly at Huang Lei in front of him and unexpectedly received a slap from Huang Lei. 'I ask you a question, you answer. Keep talking and you'll regret it.'"
Gu Jie Wanting to rub his head that had been hit, he realized that both of his hands were locked to the tiger stool.
"Damn it, a hero doesn't suffer losses."
"What did you say?"
Huang Lei stared at Gu Jie with wide eyes, still wanting to give him another slap. Gu Jie immediately backed off at the sight of this posture.
"It's nothing."
"You better be honest with me!"
After a simple inquiry process, Huang Lei gave a meaningful look at the person called Gu Jie. Gu Jie squinted at Huang Lei in front of him, feeling a hint of danger. Huang Lei continued to ask, "Why did you kill someone?" "I didn't kill anyone!"
